Rams Start “Intensive” COVID Protocol

Rough news for the Buccaneers’ next opponent.
News popped late yesterday that the Rams had an unnamed player test positive for The Sickness and the whole team will be working from home today.
In October, the NFL launched enhanced “intensive” guidelines for team responses to The Sickness, and it seems the Rams thought whatever happened meant they should sound this new and louder alarm. They are scheduled to play the Bucs on Monday night in Tampa.
It’s been a rough week for the Rams, who lost their rock of a left tackle, Andrew Whitworth, for the Bucs game with a serious knee injury.

I re-looked “Intensive Protocol” and found this: In October, the league established new guidelines for intensive protocol. It includes rapid point of care tests in addition to daily polymerise chain reaction testing, teams meeting virtually, the wearing of masks and gloves by players on the practice field at all times and a ban on player gatherings away from the facility.
In the midst of this, they have to check out their new kicker.

Bucs Anthem: If you don’t drive or ride in a car, and don’t get near cars, your chances of getting impacted by a car accident are pretty darn slim, right? So while I agree the protective measures are not foolproof for COVID, the probability can be greatly reduced. On the flip side, imagine these young men being all over the community, night and day, and then slinging mucus all over the practice and game field with no testing at all, and surely there is a difference. So it looks like even the measures the NFL takes starting in October are even safer. I’m not sure if any more games have been postponed under the new protocol, but I’d bet my paycheck it’s reduced the risk.

Wow. Just wow Anthem. Our nation just passed 250 THOUSAND dead due to COVID … and it’s spreading like a wildfire right now. Hundreds of thousands more will most likely live the rest of their lives with some lingering effects of this deadly virus. No other nation is even close to those numbers, and ours is only THAT LOW because of the bravery & professionalism of our heroic medical folks & 1st responders.
The one who needs to stop lying to themselves is YOU. Roy’s exactly right; “It DOES matter what you do”. YOUR ACTIONS … or lack thereof … impact many, many others, including potentially those medical personnel who might one day be called upon to save YOUR LIFE. Show them the same respect you expect them to show you and/or members of your family.

This has happened at least a dozen times already under these new measures to prevent spread. It’s precautionary (perhaps above and beyond precautionary) and I would think after a large sample size of these instances people should know to not sound the alarms and assume a game is going to get postponed. 99% of the time the game goes on as scheduled and LIKE CLOCKWORK, no more NEW positive tests will happen with the rams and they will be practicing by Saturday and traveling to Tampa Sunday

BradyBunch…nothing to do with who is President, etc. No reason to hype it up as a big scare, and also no reason to cause a panic for things we cant do. Also no reason to pretend it doesn’t exist and that we can do nothing. Anthem is just plain wrong on his own…nothing to do with politics, and I don’t think even Anthem really believes his own stuff.

This Sickness is real. I’m a business man and I’m a shareholder of five companies in Brazil and one company in the USA.
Well, in one of the Brazilian companies, after two months since the hole team returned to the office, the employees came to us asking for a less restrictive protocol, since there wasn’t a single case so far.
After consulting our legal staff and a medical advice, we agreed to a new protocol.
Big mistake.
Three weeks later, 34 out of our 76 employees tested positive for Covid19. And, unfortunately, one of them is a now intubated, in an induced coma, fighting for his life.
So, do not underestimate the virus, it’s highly contagious and, even if in rare cases, it can lead to severe reactions or deaths.
We must respect science and protect each other. The vaccines are coming, let’s be a little more patient and in a few months the pandemic will be under control.
No need to panic or to became paranoid, but wash your hands, keep some social distance and wear a mask in public spaces are very simple and effective measures.
And… go Bucs!!!

@Roy T. Buford: per your research, if the “intensive” protocol includes the PCR test, keep in mind that test does NOT test for covid, it looks for fragments of RNA remnants that could come from any cold you had in your life, and tests above 30 magnitudes show a massive number of false positives.

Actually there’s been hundreds of thousands of additional excess deaths in 2020 compared to 2019, despite some leading causes of death like car accidents being way down due to covid and shutdowns.

This isn’t difficult to figure out from the son of a bookie’s perspective. I’m no epidemiologist but I can read OBVIOUS DATA.
The U.S. has 4.5% the world’s population. We have more than 20% of the DEATHS!!!! Why? Please spare me the malarky about doc’s miscoding cases to Covid on purpose. The CDC numbers of “extra” deaths this year are way above 300,000. These are deaths above the normally expected deaths from heart disease, accidents, cancer etc.
250,000 of these deaths are easy to account for…the Covid deaths…CDC experts and others believe the larger number is due to people who were just carried out of their apartments dead. They didn’t do autopsies.
But there is CLEAR EVIDENCE!!! In Kansas a progressive Governor announced a mask mandate. Those freedom loving righties like Cobra in the legislature said NO…they gave each of Kansas 81 counties their own choice.
61 red counties said NO MASKS…20 blue counties enacted mask ordinances.
Results were conclusive. The counties with Mask ordinances leveled off their rates while the unmasked counties continued to spike. But hey they were free to die right?
This same inadvertent experiment repeated itself in Tennessee when a Gubernatorial mask order was countermanded by the R legislature and given to localities. Nashville…other larger areas went for mask rules…rural areas did not. Again…those that didn’t saw greater rates than the masked counties.
D.R. is correct…and all of us owe whichever members of his family are doing EMS and front line work our gratitude.
I’m tired of being thanked for my service for a stupid war fought by suckers like me when we have heroes going into work every day to fight this virus. All this denial shows them the same disrespect we showed our Vets when we first got back from ‘Nam.

Considering that (as we ALL know) this virus is especially dangerous to people of color, perhaps we should be asking what’s going on there?
Is their healthcare system better than ours?

StPete … We now live in a world with predominantly 2 extremes. It wasn’t created in just these past 4 years as some have claimed; it’s been evolving here for many years IMO. I consider myself (the fool that I am) to be someplace in the middle. On some issues I’m very conservative (Genghis Khan would be proud). On other issues, I tend to be quite liberal. I ‘suspect’ that you fall into a similar ‘centrist’ category, but I may very well be wrong.
Gave up a long time ago trying to change the minds of those who are more at the ‘extremes’ than I am. Losing battle, and life’s too short. Well, what’s left of it anyways …
