Marpet Doesn’t Practice

November 20th, 2020

Setback.

A day after participating in a full practice, it seems as though Bucs left guard Ali Marpet may have had a setback.

Still in concussion protocol, Marpet was cleared to practice Thursday to see how he responded. It seems the response was poor as he was held out of practice Friday night at the Den of Depression.

Foot-rubbing, car-littering Bucs tight end Rob Gronkowski and tight end Tanner Hudson also did not practice. Gronkowski had a veteran’s day off and Hudson, based on posts on his social media accounts, it appears his father has passed away.

Outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul had limited participation, which is not unusual.

Well..First off ill try to be all empathetic because thats the right thing to do or something and say that Marpet’s health comes first. Obviously. I also think some fans’ reaction is a little dramatic because I’m cynical. These protocols, because of billion dolar lawsuits are going to be OVER THE TOP precautionary. I would not be surprised in the least if Marpet wants to play. Hell hes prob begging to play. League liability, lawsuits, insurance is what i see here frankly, and because of helicopter parenting out of intense fear of being shaken down for more money – they will now have to go a 3rd straight week. Heck, just sit him the rest of the year to be “Safe!”

  12. Allbuccedup Says:

Dont push him now, let him completely recover thru the bye week we will survive.

Easy for you to say from your keyboard gofortheface. Go put a helmet on and run into a wall 60 times every Sunday and see if you need a break.

Condolences Tanner. Get well Ali. For yourself!!!!!

  18. Bucs fan Says:

If he wanted to play all he had to do was say he’s fine lol. He ain’t itching to play. I’m not saying he’s faking but there’s no part of this protocol thats really a symptom checker. Do you have a headache? No. Do you have blurry vision ? No. The minute he says yes to anything he’s out.

  19. Leighroy Says:

Bucs fan, that’s a garbage take. Ali Marpet doesn’t want to play – Are you kidding me? Plus they do have cognitive tests.

This ain’t pee wee football where your kid is tired of you yelling and just wants to go eat orange slices.

  20. orlbucfan Says:

One thing I will give Arians full credit for is he rests injured players whether they are stars or not. Ali M wants to play. If he doesn’t and is still not 100%, good move to rest him. Condolences to the Hudson family.

  21. Mike Johnson Says:

The beast is comin Bucs. Better have an answer for him. That beast be Aaron Donald. The Rams Goat. Don’t block him and we might see Gabbert real early. Just sayin…
