Laser Focus
November 15th, 2020In speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians seemed like he worried that the distractions of the past week may have taken over the mindset of the Bucs for today’s game.
Football coaches go wild about distractions. They actually look for distractions. The weather is too cold. The friggin’ defensive coordinator wore too much cologne. Mars is behind the moon. You name it.
So when the team had to abruptly and radically change its schedule with a tropical storm sort of dumping on the Tampa Bay area at the last moment and then with the plane fiasco yesterday, Arians seemed to think his team had a door opened to meltdown mentally.
That didn’t happen. As Joe wrote earlier, JPP took to Instagram last night and didn’t want to hear anything about distractions from the plane fiasco.
“You’ve got one job to do!” JPP told his followers.
The mental toughness to not let a storm or a plane get in their heads and stay locked in with the job at hand Arians said was impressive.
Throw in the dominant performance against the division cellar-dweller, Arians told the radio audience he was proud of his team’s focus.
Check out this video shot by WFLA-TV Channel 8 photojournalist Bob Hansen. Look how Donovan Smith begins to celebrate the moment RoJo broke free. Look how big ol’ Ryan Jensen raced downfield to slap skin with RoJo?
Think this team isn’t coming together?
Great reaction from #Bucs after the game on Rojo’s 98-yd TD run. Tom Brady said he’s never seen anything like it. Jones said he changed his angle when he looked at the jumbotron and saw Chinn closing on him. pic.twitter.com/UOw5wX25gj

Very happy about this. When the defense met on the sideline everyone obviously took it to heart. I thought Jensen was fairly solid in Marpet’s spot. Bucs mixed it up on first down. Jones more than maid up for the fumble. Good game.

Yes I said it during the Giants game. He has proven he is our best RB and you need to keep him in even if he makes a costly mistake early!

Well, JPP delivered. Again, perhaps the greatest trade in Bucs history.

A great day to be a Bucs fan.

Cut Haeg. He’s useless.

I noticed #14-Chris Godwin was right down the field and almost hugged Rojo after his score. Godwin really is under rated. Can’t wait until he has his breakout game.

I’m impressed that Jensen was not very far behind RoJo!

I like that he didn’t spike the ball. Barry Sanders. Shweet!

I like that he didn’t drop the ball an inch short of the goal line, like some do. I just like that for my Bucs

Awesome, awesome play Rojo. Bucs fans are excited for you.
