How did the Bucs grade out?

Man, if someone had his personality change this wildly in a week, Joe knows exactly what would happen to him.

He’d get Baker Acted.

Such is the life of following the wild ups and downs of the Bucs in 2020.

One week they play like Jane.

Next week they play like Tarzan.

On a Sunday night for all the nation to see, the Bucs got seal-clubbed by the slimy Saints. A week later, the Bucs curb-stomped the Stinking Panthers.

So in a span of eight days, the Bucs went from failing on every possible level to acing just about every test across the board. As a result, John Breech of CBS Sports handed the Bucs an A- in whipping up of the Stinkin’ Panthers.

The Buccaneers defense finally arrived in the second half and held Carolina to six points. Meanwhile, the offense continued to cruise. Tom Brady and Co. amassed over 500 total yards after being stifled by the rival Saints last weekend. Most of that yardage came from Brady (341) and Ronald Jones (192). Tampa Bay was all smiles after regulation came to a close, as they will not lose any ground within the division this weekend.

As Joe sits in front of his computer at JoeBucsFan.com World Headquarters, Joe honestly doesn’t know what to make of this team.

Is it the team that was seal-clubbed by the slimy Saints? Maybe not. Was it the team that curb-stomped the Stinking Panthers? Maybe not. It is somewhere in-between? Perhaps.

Playing the Rams and the Chiefs the next two weeks should give a great idea of what this Bucs team really is.

The Rams scare me because of Donald.
The Chiefs only scare me because we have nobody with Hill’s speed. Hopefully Bowles works a miracle with scheme

The Buccaneers are a high octane dragster using an experimental parts & tune!

Last weeks part install with Antonio Brown somehow stalled us out and left us sitting at the starting line watching the Saints run away with the win. It happens sometimes…

This weeks tweaks resulted in us firing on all 12 cylinders. Ripping the 1/4 as we every did dream of! Now, no more changes from here on… who’s next?

  3. Alanbucsfan Says:

Defense will need to come up with turnovers. Both Rams and Chiefs offenses are too good.

  4. doctor_berto Says:

SB, no one in the league has someone with Hill’s speed but Dean is one of the closest with his 4.30 40.

The Bucs seem to do best when they’re playing with a lead. When they’re up by two scores, they really take off (see Packers and Panthers). Let’s hope they can jump out to a quick start against the Rams.

I’ve said it before….if it’s a dogfight we are in trouble. this is a great team, but one that racks up stats after the game is in hand. they have to get up by 2 scores to get in their grove, and that is usually a byproduct of the D getting a turnover.

it could be said for any team i guess, but when the D gets turnovers we win. and play man defense until they stop them a few times, then switch to zone.

Maybe I’m getting big headed, but I think that we will win our next two games. The Rams offense doesn’t scare me in the slightest and the same goes for the Chief’s defense (I know they are currently top 10). We are more well rounded than both of those teams and if we have a decent game plan (always a concern) we should soon be 9-2 soon.

I think Bowles has to take chances and get creative with blitzes to compensate for losing Vea. As far as the offense, how about mixing up run vs pass. Like not running up the middle every single first down. Maybe more slant routes and using the TE’s in the seam more to move the ball on first downs. And just focus on moving the chains in the first quarter.
Brady needs to start fast and establish a passing rhythm at the beginning of the game. Can’t go three and out against these teams.

    Ed Zachary…

We will know the future in two weeks.

    Wow The JoeBucsFan.com World Headquarters.
    Made me laugh. Thanks!

The only thing that concerns me about Monday Night’s game is the fact that we’re playing it on Monday Night.

  12. Steven Says:

Unfortunately I believe Jameis Winston was the difference in both of the Saints games, just like John Gruden was the difference in us winning the Super Bowl. Guaranteed Jameis Winston ran the scout team for the Saints letting them know what every formation meant and what we were going to do. They were ready for us just like we were ready for the Raiders.

  13. WhatTheBuc Says:

SB. Dean is the fastest CB in the NFL (at the combine at least).

  14. Joe Says:

    Steven:

Bucs offense is radically different from last year. Unless you think Jameis git a crash course from Belicheat over the summer in a scheme to get back at Brady.

  15. Capt.Tim Says:

A team that had no offseason together. Learning each other every week.
Bucs offense ids the Best in the NFL.
Once they get comfortable together, they will show it consistently.

    Joe:

Different yes but not completely changed.

The Saints have looked mediocre in every other came this year in comparison to the way they looked against the Bucs.

Only beat the Bears, Panthers and Chargers by 3 points each.

Had the 49ers not muffed two punts and dropped a sure fire pick six, the saints lose that game.

Here is what I make of this team, like I have said multiple times, they are building for a playoff run. They could have scored 60 in the game the other day, easily 54 without the inaccuracy of Brady on 2 throws in the endzone. With that said the offense is still are very much a work in progress, they have not looked consistently like what they can be. The Defense is vulnerable in the back end, as we have all seen. Good to see they stepped up in the 2nd half against the Carolina Cats. Again like the good NBA teams that use the regular season to build for a playoff run, the Bucs are in that mode right now, and at 7-3, they seem to be on schedule. I believe they will go 1-1 in the next 2. We will see, but I expect the opposite against the Rams, then the last Prime time fright show on Dale Mabry against the Nawlins. GO BUCS!!! KEEP TOM ALIVE FOR THE TOUCHDOWN DRIVE!!!!

  18. SOEbuc Says:

Play to much zone early. Dean is one of the best PD when they play man defense. Davis is one of the best man CBs. This is what needs to be adjusted.

  19. Mike Says:

I don’t know why most of you are high on the defense. You cannot give the opponents 10-14 points in the first quarter every game. No offense can overcomes that big hole every game.

  20. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

My worry is the Rams want revenge for that 55 we put up on them in LA.
