Joe encourages fans to vote for the Pro Bowl. That way you can’t be able to complain Bucs Player-X didn’t make the Pro Bowl.
Now Nick Shook of NFL.com has an interesting angle. He listed players he expects to make the Pro Bowl for the first time. Not rookies, but first-time Pro Bowlers.
For example, Ali Marpet, if he made the Pro Bowl, would be a first-timer.
Shook believes the Bucs have a potential first-time Pro Bowler on the roster and it isn’t who you may think. Shook would lay his cash on Bucs linebacker Devin White.
Devin White has been a promising linebacker since his 2019 rookie season in Tampa, but with the increased exposure afforded him now that Tom Brady is in town, this could be the year he makes the leap. White is already ahead of his 2019 pace in total tackles (he has 88 so far, three shy of his 2019 total), sacks (five, which is twice as many as his 2.5 sacks from last year) and passes defensed (two, one short of his ’19 total). He’s been all over the field for Tampa Bay, recording 12 hustle stops (stops where the player covers 20-plus yards of in-play distance from snap to tackle) this season, good for the third most in the NFL. With added attention, folks will soon wake up to the potential and effectiveness of White, and that should earn him a Pro Bowl nod.
This would surprise Joe a little only because White isn’t quite a well-rounded linebacker. He is excellent against the run, so-so (though better) in blitzing and needs work in pass coverage.
If Joe had to pick a first-time Pro Bowler on defense, Joe would choose cornerback Carlton Davis.
Now if Joe had to pick a first-time Pro Bowler from the entire roster, Joe would go with Tristan Wirfs.

My hunch is that the primary reason most Bucs don’t make the Pro Bowl is because not enough Bucs’ fans vote. Just a hunch …

Making the Pro Bowl doesn’t even give you much of a chance to get it added to your moniker….Oh wait!!! We did have one player that received that honor.

Devon White I believe leads all linebackers in sacks (NFL Pro Bowl LB voting page).
Ali Marpet should be one also, but has missed some national exposure time.

None get my vote until they show up on a primetime game. Even if they don’t win but play hard and COMPETITIVE Monday I’ll vote for every last one.

The Pro Bowl is a joke. It’s a popularity contest. Voted on by partisans. It used to at least be a trip to Hawaii. Now it’s Orlando. Better than Shreveport, but certainly nothing to get all excited about.
