Winning Mentality

October 2nd, 2020

Obstacles are challenges.

Now this is a glimpse into why park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is a winner.

Brady is the personification of an NFL winner. He’s been to nine Super Bowls — nine! Won six of them.

So yesterday in a Zoom conference call, Brady was asked if it is frustrating for him with so many receivers being injured in the first month of the season and if that has kept the Bucs from having a smooth flow offensively.

Brady doesn’t look at it that way. Brady looks at it as receivers who wouldn’t ordinarily practice with the first team or play in a game are getting a lot of quality snaps. Additionally, Brady said he is learning to get on the same page with the backups.

Therefore, Brady said, that makes the backup receivers not just better, but better prepared for when their numbers are called later. In other words, this work will pay off down the road.

“I think you’ve got to take advantage of that situation,” Brady said of backups getting reps with the first team and playing time. “I think you’d ideally like to have everybody out there practicing. The only way to get better is to practice together. You can’t walk through or talk through everything – you’ve got to practice. There are a lot of things that happen out there that are happening in the moment. You’ve got to make really critical decisions [and] everyone has to be on the same page.

“The more you practice together, the more those things are going to come up. I always think it’s a benefit to practice and practice well. When certain guys can’t [practice] for injury – this is a contact sport and things happen – it is good for the other guys to get reps and for them to get in there and prove to everybody that if they did get the chance to be in there, then they’ve got to take advantage of it and do a great job.

“That’s how a lot of guys get their positions – guys get injured and guys never get their job back. That’s just the way football is.”

This impresses the hell out of Joe. Instead of whining “woe is me” and “we will just have to find a way to get past this,” Brady is actually embracing the challenge, not curling up in a fetal position to suck his thumb.

This is just one fantastic example of why Brady is the ultimate winner.

looks like it should be on a football card

  2. Beaner Says:

That is how Brady got his start. Bledsoe got hurt, Brady took over and never looked back.

  3. '79 Defense Says:

He also said “I’ve loved every minute I’ve been here.” That’s the kind of thing you want to hear as a fan. Too bad we didn’t get this guy 20 years ago, but at least we have him now. I really hope we get to see a packed RJS before he hangs it up for good.

This is why Tom Brady is considered one of the GOAT.
Brady works hard at his craft and makes people better at theirs while doing so.

  5. Alanbucsfan Says:

With Godwin out and maybe S Miller out, will be interesting to see if McCoy and T Johnson are more involved in the game plan.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Enter Tyler Johnson…..

Get ready for a heavy dose of dink & dunk……with a guy who’s good at it.

Keep clean with the turnovers & penalties…..sharpen up on ST….and our smothering defense and we will prevail.

  7. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

LOL…contact sport I agree with. However, none of the injuries except for Justin’s appear to be contact related.

Just wish you’d show more respect and stop with the negative Brady moniker. But it is nice to see that you’re warming up to him more. Winston for all his talent just wasn’t the leader that the veteran Brady is.

What exactly does Antifa mean to you joe? It’s always meant anti fascist to me.

Crime including, but not limited to, police assault, arson, vandalism if not looting. Tactics that sure seem to mirror a certain group in Germany that rose in the 1920s.

Agree on beating the brakes off those smug a holes in new orleans!!! Sean payton is the most arrogant coach imo. I don’t understand why we cant gameplan kamara like we do CMC.

  26. Sumosam Says:

Simply put, this ain’t the same old Bucs

  27. Bill M Says:

Evans and Tyler at wideouts. Tanner Hudson at slot. Kid can move and has great hands. A three tight end package on a mud day. Swing Rojo out too. Thats 6 receivers and a mud field favors the receiver on quick cuts. Short to middle distance throws for Brady to unload fast. Mix in a few draws as well when the defense has to focus on. the pass. Off tackle runs on most first downs is too predictable. Go for the dam biscuit. Let Brady control the game. Thats what the Pat’s did. Lots of crossing patterns . Dink them to death and mix in the runs.

  28. Oneilbucs Says:

This is a defense led team Brady is not the driving force of this team . So yall need to stop with the Brady is balling out . And just like I told all yall that it was going to be a different offensive playbook
