“We Started Introducing A More Four-Wideout-Package, So We Could Have All Those Guys On The Field”

Antonio Brown is going to play immediately and the Bucs are preparing to soil the pants of defensive coordinators.

As Joe told Sage Ira Kaufman many times over the summer on the Ira Kaufman Podcast, Tom Brady didn’t come to Tampa to handoff. He’s averaging 38 passes a game and now he’s adding a guy who has been one of the best receivers in the history of the game. That would be Antonio Brown, whose NFL suspension ends next week.

Bucco Bruce Arians told SiriusXM NFL Radio last night that the Bucs already are preparing to alter the offense for Brown’s arrival.

“We started introducing a more four-wideout-package, so we could have all those guys on the field,” Arians said, referring to Brown, Scotty Miller, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

“He’ll have a role as soon as he’s eligible,” Arians continued. “It’s just how much we can expand that role each week. It’ll take a few weeks, but that’s the nice thing, he practices so hard. The quarterback has some history with him. So yeah, it shouldn’t be any problem. The nice thing is he doesn’t have to learn the playbook. He just has to learn the game plan.”

Arians spoke of his working in meetings with Brown yesterday and praised Brown’s recall of “formations and stuff like that” from their days together in Pittsburgh during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

    Superbowl baby !!!!

  2. Cannon Says:

That’s a lethal lineup at “four wide”. Evans, Godwin, Miller and Brown. Go ahead and try to cover them.

BTW, Gronk just released down the seam. Have fun with that.

  3. Casual Observer Says:

Get ’em all healthy at the same time.

    BL is a mastermind!!!!

no doubt he altered the offense for the previous QB last year….

he’s altered the offense for brady…..and now he’s making adjustments to the offense in order to get maximum production once AB arrives…..

i see why brady wanted to work with BL….

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  5. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

If a team runs man against us they are crazy. No way to defend all the Bucs weapons. Most teams I expect will run a zone D. Then we send ME and AB deep and have Gronk, Miller and Godwin get easy catches in the soft spots of the zone; or Fournette and Rojo up the middle.

With the Bucs D, I do not think any team can keep up the scoring pace; not Seattle, not the Packers, not the nasty Aint’s. Ravens will have a harder time running on us and the KC does not have the D to hold us down.

All we have to worry about is staying healthy and showing up to play every game. Lets start with the Giants this week guys.

Hmm. Maybe Brown is on some meds and can keep it together. Maybe he has grown and matured. Maybe the loss in pay was an awakening. . .

Nahhhhh. A leopard doesn’t change his spots.

The question is will the meltdown occur long enough before the playoffs that it can be overcome.

  7. JimbobBucsFan Says:

As for a meltdown for Antonio Brown in the near future, we shall see.

“The nice thing is he doesn’t have to learn the playbook. He just has to learn the game plan.”

Can somebody elaborate on this? Since when is it unnecessary to know the playbook? Or does this mean AB already knew the playbook before he arrived? Hmmmm

  8. August 1976 Buc Says:

Who knows what went on leading up to his arrival in Tampa. But at the same time all he has to learn is the plays that will be used in the game. I would think at least 1 TD will come from AB during the beatdown that the Bucs are going to put the Saints on Sunday Night Football. GO BUCS!!!!!

  9. Captain_Fear Says:

Jimbo- there are on finite number of route concepts and formations . Brady will be likely telling him the route for a few weeks until brown learns all the nuances of the playbook

  10. Cobraboy Says:

@JimbobBucsFan: AB has played with the Arians playbook in Pittsburgh.

  11. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

“a guy who has been one of the best receivers in the history of the game.”
Let’s not get carried away. Limit it to the last 10 years and your hyperbole won’t be too much.

  12. August 1976 Buc Says:

6 100 catch seasons = AB That is historic in the annals of the NFL. GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Tom Brady didn’t come to Tampa to handoff.” And yet, we beat the Packers by running on 60% of our offensive snaps. Whodathunkit?

The beauty of this offense is that it has THREE strengths that are very difficult to stop:

1 – The best QB ever to play the game who also happens to be THE Field General.

    2 – A talented OLine that can run-block AND pass-protect.

3 – Quality weapons, with excellent depth, in both the run game AND the passing game.

Add to that a top-ranked defense that thrives on creating turnovers and it would seem that there’s a formula for success someplace in there.

  14. COREYATX Says:

@Jimbob, it’s, literally elaborated on in the next sentence…

  15. Bculaw Says:

This is refreshing. Remember when Gruden couldn’t figure out how to get A. Bryant and Joey Galloway on the field at the same time?

  16. 813bucboi Says:

The beauty of this offense is BL…

    2019 bucs ranked #3 in offense….and was with a qb tossing 30INTs

2020 bucs ranking is currently #3….and its only the mid way mark with most of our weapons banged….

    BL IS WORKING MAGIC!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  17. David Says:

Screw AB. Can’t stand him. He’s a piece of shi**e.
They should be putting Johnson in there.

And why does everyone keep harping on the history Brady an A.B. have? Wasn’t he with the team for about 1-2 games?

  18. Jerry Jones Says:

@David…Yes,.AB Played a game with NE and he had 4 catches for 2 1st downs and a TD= PRODUCTION.

Not sure if he was in another game besides that one.

  19. Brandon Says:

Jerry… 4 catches, 8 targets, like 60 yards. Hardly anything to be worthy of being called CHEMISTRY. They may have it but have done nothing to officially show it.
