(Some) Details Of Brown’s Contract

October 24th, 2020

Details.

The specifics of the contract nutcase/cancer wide receiver Antonio Brown signed with the Bucs are starting to bubble to the surface.

In short, per Mike Garafalo, this is a very team-friendly contract. And it seems if Brown is Brown, the Bucs can easily throw him out on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. with little cost.

That is, not counting the collateral damage this clown very easily could cost.

Garafalo took to the NFL Network airwaves this morning to offer what he has learned about the contract.

If you don’t already get the drift, this is all about playing at home in the Den of Depression if the Bucs make the Super Bowl.

You can see Garafolo’s report in the NFL Network video below.

    ________

    Glad Big Racist got banned.
Pretty sure he’d make a stink about that statement!

  4. Buc1987 Says:

I heard somewhere along the line that AB was a jerk….

    Anyone else?

    🙂

  5. adam from ny Says:

so basically he is a hired gun thru the superbowl…

    get pay as you play…

    will he wear #17 ???

  6. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Nutcase? Maybe
Cancer? No evidence he hurt any team he was with – he just hurt his own opportunities- in fact, most former teammates praise his work ethic
Clown? I wouldn’t put that label on someone who may have mental issues stemming from a serious concussion…

His civil suit situation will play out – we’ll see

It’s low risk, high upside potential for Bucs

  7. TampaTown Says:

    Dooosh:
One Buc Place is located on Martin Luther King Blvd in Tampa. If he got thrown/kicked out of the facility that’s where he’d land. Not a racist statement by Joe. I’m still in shock that we signed him.

  8. Rayjay1122 Says:

Brady gets his way and AB wants to play with Brady. I think on the field he will be great and as good as ME13 is, AB is even better. Why wouldn’t we want AB, ME13 and Godwin as our top 3 wideouts? I could care less about his past as I will judge him on the present. But I know there are a shat ton of hypocritical people who love judging.

  9. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

It seems almost like being a head case goes with the territory, being an NFL Star Receiver.
Keyshawn Johnson was a head case too, but he won games for us.
Antonio Brown and Brady already have chemistry between them, so look out NFL.
Imagine being a defensive coordinator, having to prepare for us, especially with ROJO running the ball well.

  10. adam from ny Says:

    seriously tho…

how have the bucs completely stolen the show this year in the nfl…

    over and over and over…

they completely dominate the league, it’s headlines and all sports media and programming…

it’s absolutely insane that the bucs have literally become basically the new america’s team (or something like that)…

the year is 2020…and it is about covid, blm and the buccaneers…

    go figure

  11. teacherman777 Says:

    The girls are lying!

Hes just a healthy man with a strong libido.

    Go Bucs!

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    Whatever.

I just caught this news about an hour ago.

I’m still trying to digest it.

Peeps are right about the lineup of Evans, AB, Godwin, Gronk…sprinkled in with a little Rojo….and…the GOAT at QB. That’s serious firepower if they’re all healthy.

Peeps are also right about his idiocy though. Serious baggage.

I guess you put it all on a scale and weigh out the good and the bad.

With that said….Welcome to the Bucs Antonio Brown!

  13. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Horrible move!!! They just destroyed what chance they have of making the SB …. Chemistry for a perineal losing team is the most important part…. This is an awful decision!! I’m mad FOR the receivers on this team!! I can’t imagine how they feel!!

  14. Allbuccedup Says:

Bucs have two female coaches not good!

  15. Mike Johnson Says:

I know this is Arians all in last hurrah. But why would we take a cancer with a mental illness. I’ll bet a paycheck there is a controversy which upsets the balance of the team. Brown has been knocked upside the head one to many times frequently. Not his fault. He cannot control himself. Now sit back and watch the loose canon unleash.

  16. DoooshLaRue Says:

    TT,

The Brown being Brown was part of my tongue in cheek comment as well.

  17. lambchop Says:

Brate and Watson should not give up their numbers. #81 is available. Should suit the DIVA perfectly to remind us all of another DIVA WR of old.

  18. PatrickG Says:

Although I agree with most of Joe’s comments, there is a very racist undertone here “throw him out on Martin Luther King Blvd”. Come on!!!
That’s a racist undertone? It’s the street that is the entrance to One Buc Palace!–Joe

  19. ItzOK Says:

do we want to win or have the all church choir team. dude was the best receiver in football. if you can replace scotty miller or justin watson with the best thats a no brainer. It takes talent to win. Who knows if Evns and Godwin can stay healthy or if Gronk can stay healthy all year. This is a perfect insurance policy.

  20. CalBucsFan Says:

I’m not voting for AB, I only want him to catch the damn ball and score TDs.

    Welcome to TB!

  21. Caleb Lee Says:

I really don’t like the move. My only positive thought on the matter is that at least I feel that Evan’s and Godwin will hold him accountable in the WR room. I don’t see Evans taking any $#!+.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

But we could have signed an ALL-PRO DT for that money!!!!!

That’s the idiocy I was hearing yesterday from those against this move. Like an all-pro DT is just sitting at home waiting on the phone to ring. LOL!

  23. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Pretty much Rod, there is this magic DT/pass rusher out there available for under million dollars.

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Hey dopes, if AB is a cancer, you know what you do, you cut him… it’s almost like the team knows this and structured his deal that way.

Also if the locker room chemistry is so important and so strong right now, why would he disrupt it? You really think a guy making minimum wage is going to come in and blow the place up, you really think all the other guys in the locker room are that mentally weak they’d just let it happen? For people who think everyone in the locker room having their periods synced is the only way to win – you really have very little faith in those guys to actually have a backbone if AB is acting out. If AB is acting out you have Suh or Jensen go up and knock his teeth out, it’s pretty simple, problem solved, locker room fixed. Have some faith in the locker room leaders.

This isn’t a 22-year old Jameis trying to control D-Jax who has $20m guaranteed. From everything I read AB is damn near broke and needs this money. Why would he act differently? Because he has no other choice.

  25. Rod Munch Says:

It sounds like his base salary would be around $1m or $1.2m, so he’s going to cost around an extra $500-700k against the cap vs a rookie/young player. The per game bonuses are only getting paid if he’s behaving and productive, so the cost and risk factor here is almost nothing. Meanwhile we’re replacing Cecil Grayson with a guy who, if you ignore his character, is a first ballot HOFer.

Again I ask, if we had Brown starting that Chicago game instead of Scotty Miller, do we win? I have zero doubt that the answer is yes. That’s why Brady wants him. Brady didn’t come here to win a community leadership award, he came here to win a SB.

  26. stpetebucsfan Says:

So has he served 6 of his 8 games since the Bucs are 4-2?

Is he allowed to practice with the team before he comes off suspension. IE will he be ready to roll in three games.

  27. SOEbuc Says:

Joe can we get some articles about tomorrows game???

  28. '79 Defense Says:

“That is, not counting the collateral damage this clown very easily could cost.”

    Exactly.

  29. DoooshLaRue Says:

I don’t like the signing but I think as long as Brady keeps him in line he might be alright.

Not defending him but after all the sh!t he’s been accused of $$$ the last 2-3 years he’d have to be a special kind of stupid to not keep his mouth shout and just catch the ball.
He may be…….. who knows, but
He’s got to know this is his last and best chance to keep playing.

And yes Rod, I’m positive that the contract is written for an easy out on our part if he effs up.

  30. Defense Rules Says:

@Tampabuscsbro … “Pretty much Rod, there is this magic DT/pass rusher out there available for under million dollars.”

Years ago the NFL invented this thing called a ‘trade’. Seems like the Ravens were paying attention and recently TRADED their 2021 3rd rnd pick and a 2022 conditional 5th rnd pick to the Vikings for some guy named Yannick Ngakoue or something like that. Rumor has it that he’s a pass-rusher. Another rumor says he’s a pretty good one too.

Not that we need another pass rusher mind you, since we already have Shaq, JPP and … hmmm, cupboard’s not exactly bursting at the seams after that is it. But hey, it’s perfectly reasonable to expect Shaq & JPP to play 90% of all defensive snaps. Well, until it isn’t of course.

  31. Topdoggie Says:

Evans is hurting bad. He is going to fill in. If he behaves he’ll stay if he is still acting nutty when Evans is healthy he will go. Unless Godwin is hurt when evans is back to normal. I just talked to some friends and family in Pittsburgh and they still want him.

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Defense Rules – a 3rd and a 5th and $5mil in salary for a 9 game rental. Sure, that would be nice to have, you can’t have too many pass rushers, but it would have taken up the entire available salary cap space and cost those picks. I’m fine with giving up the picks, but as you said it’s not currently a position in need. Also from reading about Yannick, he wanted to be in Baltimore, so there might have been some behind the scenes dealing where they know he’s going to resign which made giving up the picks easier.

But if there is a NT out there, one we can trade for, then they should do so if they can afford it. The issue is, of course, that most good players on the d-line, the kind where you’re giving up a top pick, are going to cost a hell of a lot more than $1m-2m a year, and what team is going to give up a good NT who is only making that little amount of money?

  33. Rayjay1122 Says:

I can’t believe how many JBF bloggers wear panties..lol. And they are all bunched up. Lmao

  34. Clean House Says:

If this guy really does have mental illness, which it seems pretty clear he does, it is highly irresponsible and childish of this website to give him such a moniker.
I get that it’s your shtick, with others, and others without the mental issues can handle it, but it’s not cool in this case.
Mental illness should not be mocked publicly.
Why don’t you be a better community member and team supporter Joe?

The guy is now a teammate for better or worse, and deserves the benefit of the doubt and a warmer welcome than being called such things by the local press.

It’s irresponsible and a disgrace. Your site deserves to be banned from every press conference and event, with such talk.

This is my opinion, perhaps you’ll reconsider your fFavorite approach with AB

  35. Buc1987 Says:

Rayjay1122…holy crap dude….just discuss covid in here and you’ll see how many of them wear panties.

    Where have you been? lol

  36. Brion Says:

Confused. Should Joe have referred to it as “Buffalo Ave”?

  37. Perimeter Blocker Says:

    I hope we haven’t just prostituted ourselves…🙄

  38. Kobe Faker Says:

“This is what happens when your $18 mill per year Hammy Evans always gets injured

trade him for a 1st round pick

Brady told BA, Licht and the Glazers he hates Leftwich playcalling and scheme

BA doesn’t want to admit he is wrong with his stepchild’s playcalling so he has to appease Brady by bringing in the #1 Narc of the NFL”

    Kobe Faker

  39. PSL Bob Says:

Let’s hope we don’t get eliminated during the playoffs and look back to Oct 23rd as the day the team chemistry started to implode.

  40. Wesley Says:

    P.O.S. racist.

  41. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So….we are getting AB for vet minimum plus incentives…….he will likely replace Cyril Grayson on the roster……

His stats thus far……Zero catches, for Zero yards & Zero TDs

Now….I don’t know about the rest of you but that seems like an upgrade to me.

  42. Cobraboy Says:

Clean House wins the weekly Virtue Signalling Award.

  43. ex-bucs fan Says:

throwing out all of my bucs memorabilia. signing antonio clown has made me an a former lifelong bucs fan. hope they all get vita via’ed.

  44. Nptbuc Says:

Where is all the evidence of him being a “ cancer” ? I must have missed that someplace. A cancer implies that he negatively impacts his team mates does it not? Everything I have read that is that his teammates loved him, loved his work ethic, etc. All garbage that he had were actions off the field in his personal life. Maybe from concussions? Regardless, he has a team friendly contract and a chance to prove himself once again. If he fails, either on or off the field, it’s of no consequence to the Bucs. He knows the rules, knows who he is working for and knows he is unemployed forever if he blows this chance. Not upset at all that he is being given his last, “last chance.” As always, proof will be in the pudding right? GO BUC

  45. adam from ny Says:

we can go 12-4 and they will still left left-twitch go after the season

  46. adam from ny Says:

cybel grayspace is one hell of a receiver…

he will have a job as a shipping and receiving shop in no time

  47. Clean House Says:

It’s true an serious Cobra boy- When you have friends or family or other loved ones with clear mental illness, you know it’s better to consistently treat them with kindness- we have a responsibility to not exacerbate their stress level.

I love hard hitting smash mouth football just like anyone, but when someone is close to the edge you don’t push.

  48. Darin Says:

    Rod
Get a hold. He’s been out of football for a year. He’s a psychopath at worst and borderline personality disorder at best. Put that in a room of 50 and well…we’ve already seen how that ends time n time again. The Gazers are insane, by definition. Now comes the medias questions Every day about Brown. This thing can blow up the team before he even gets to week 9. Please Rodge kick the guy out of the league!!

  49. adam from ny Says:

so basically AB is on the spectrum…

  50. adam from ny Says:

“don’t push me cause i’m close to the edge…

i’m trying not to lose my head”

    – lyrics by grandmaster flash or antonio bryant –

  51. m0j0 Says:

All I can say is no one is going to be able to cover the Bucs in 4 wide sets.

  52. Clean House Says:

I’m not a Dr. I just play one on JBF blog- but it seems to me yes he is on the spectrum- Not sure the best terminology is nutcase- but hey it’s not my site 😂

  53. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Odd…

Not one headline about AB on Buccaneers.com

  54. geno711 Says:

Can Antonio Brown be equivalent to Michael Jordan pushing to get Dennis Rodman for the Bulls?

During the game, everyone on the Pistons, Spurs and then the Bulls loved playing with Rodman. But outside of the actual game, Rodman got along with almost no one.

Rodman issues included almost committing suicide when Chuck Daley resigned from the Pistons. He had a history of significant drug abuse, and domestic violence. He has committed a hit and run, and has been caught stealing. He has been homeless and living on the streets. He admits that he has been horrible to the women in his life and his children.

Rodman went to the Bulls and he was very difficult. However, he also gave them part of what they needed to win a championship because when he was playing on the court, he gave it his all.

I have not followed Antonio Brown as much as I did Rodman being a Pistons fan primarily and a Spurs fan secondarily. I am hoping that the Antonio Brown the Bucs get is actually similar in that his desire, work ethic and play on game day make us a team that is that much harder to reckon with.

Tom Brady recruiting Antonio Brown. Is it similar to Michael Jordan recruiting Dennis Rodman? We will see. Hoping for the best.

  55. Mike C Says:

    Well said geno

  56. Howard Cosell Says:

    PatrickG Says:
    October 24th, 2020 at 12:47 pm

Although I agree with most of Joe’s comments, there is a very racist undertone here “throw him out on Martin Luther King Blvd”. Come on!!!

Good God man! Look at yourself in the mirror! Howard hires minorities and even gives handouts to homeless people….but you hardcore snowflakes are frightening in the energy you waste in just being wrong and way, way, way, WAY over-sensitive. I hope you feel silly for not realizing 1 Buc Place was on Dr MLK. Try spending some time learning math or reading ancient history.

#Life under China will be pure old-school slavery or worse. Blue party wants to sell the country to China. That means selling you to China

  57. Howard Cosell Says:

    Anyhow….yeah….Brown signing….yikes!
As Scooby-Doo would say, “Rote Roh!”

  58. Rod Munch Says:

Darin – oh no, the media asking questions… how can the team handle that pressure!!!!!

    Ugh.

When I talk about people with loser mentalities, that sums it up perfectly.

…If we sign Brown what will other teams say!?!?!

It’s like half the fan base are 12-year old girls.

  59. Cobraboy Says:

This contract is the ultimate “No risk it, no biscuit” deal.

  60. August 1976 Buc Says:

And it is on to the Raiders, lol “It is a beautiful day in the nieghborhood” Contrary to many peoples opinions the Bucs will be just fine. GOAT QB, Stacked offense, Legit Defense. 🔥 SUPER BOWL OR BUCS!!! GO BUCS!!!

  61. August 1976 Buc Says:

lol lol SUPER BOWL OR BUCS!!!!!! GO BUCS!!!!!

  62. Dp4life22 Says:

    Let’s look at facts :
    1) this offense has been at its best when Evans and Goodwin are there and healthy.
If one is out or playing injured we aren’t as productive.
    2) Goodwin and mike have been hurt
    3) AB means no drop off in play and allows theses starters to heal up for late season to Super Bowl run.
    4) when all healthy you put AB opposite Evans Goodwin in slot, gronk getting back in game form every week and Back ups Miller ,Johnson and Watson.
5 ) no one can stop is except ourselves

  63. Anonymous Says:

Oh we all hope so geno. It’s going to be one helluva line up to deal with. Still don’t see why they need all THIS firepower but oh well, I’m all in for whatever this crazy regime is cooking.

    Go Bucs!

  66. Anonymous Says:

  68. Bucsfanman Says:

Buc1987- Our top WRs have been unable to stay healthy. That’s why this signing makes so much sense.
And for the price?! Man please!
Maybe we’ll get that UDFA HUNGRY Antonio Brown and not so much the diva version.
Either way, he’s our diva now!
