“DEE-FENSE” (Boom… Boom)
October 25th, 2020So the Bucs have the No. 1 defense in the land. Feels like old times, especially when you watch the defense playing in those pewter pants and white jerseys.
(Weren’t those Jameis Winston jerseys an eyesore?)
Only things missing are Nos. 99, 55, 47, 20 and 97.
Remember folks, less than two years ago, the Bucs had one of the worst defenses not just in the NFL in 2018, but one of the worst in NFL history. Prior to then-defensive coordinator Mike Smith getting bounced by someone over Dirk Koetter’s head, the Bucs were boat-racing to shatter the NFL record for most yards allowed.
The job Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has done is outstanding. How and why have the Bucs returned to their roots as a defense-first team?
Well, NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger has answers. As he often does, he breaks down film and oosts his work on Twitter. In the video below, Baldinger focuses specifically on the Bucs and what they do well and how they do it.
Enjoy!

That picture makes Bowles look like he should be standing in front of a grill on weekends with a spatula in his hand. 🙂

Baldy does it again!!! What a GRRREAT breakdown. Favorite lines …
“The Bucs were down 10-0 with the offense doing nothing. The Bucs defense changed this game. The defense ignited this entire team”.
THAT’S the Bucs of old. This defense is back, and so is our lost identity. Keep the pressure on Todd. Turn the hounds loose. Let them hunt.

@bojim
It is said Todd Bowles has never met any BBQ, he did not like!
I am so glad we have a coach like him.
Baldy gave an excellent breakdown and Yes, our Defense won that game for us.
We were getting our azzes beat by the Packers, who were moving the ball at will on us. Until the Interceptions happened.
When Aaron Rodgers lost his Tackle, it became sack party time for him.

Hell yeah DR…. you got me fired up!
Get it D!!
Go Bucs!

I will wait for some consistency before declaring this D to be best in the league.
They didn’t look that way before the Packers. In fact, they had numerous moments of mediocre.
If these guys throttle the Raiders…IF…my needle will move a few chit marks on the meter toward “best.”
Just not yet.
Gotta do it game in and game out, not this inconsistent stuff…

“Weren’t those Jameis Winston jerseys an eyesore?”
How the F did Nike think that jersey design was something to be proud of? Bizarre. I think a first grader could have done better.

AWWW MAN. We are calling them the “Jameis Jerseys?” That poor ba•••••. Saddled with the worst uniform in NFL history.
