Unfamiliar Moves By The Football Gods

Implosion alert

A quick look at what happened around the National Football League is making Joe wonder whose soul might have been sold to some guy in a red suit.

And Joe’s not talking about those stupid Bucs color rush uniforms.

The Bucs play at Denver next Sunday, and this afternoon Broncos starting QB Drew Lock injured his shoulder against the Steelers and threw just five passes. Denver lost and fell to 0-2. Oh, and it was announced this morning that Broncos stud RB Phillip Lindsay will miss at least two weeks with a toe sprain.

Also, the Giants, the Bucs’ Week 8 opponent, lost the engine of their offense with a serious knee injury, Pro Bowl RB Saquon Barkley.

Meanwhile in Dallas, the Falcons imploded and lost a 40-39 heartbreaker to the Cowboys after Atlanta choked on covering an onside kick. Hot seat talk about Dan Quinn is sure to heat up as the Falcons are 0-2 for the first time since Matt Ryan arrived. It feels now like there’s a good chance the Falcons will be in disarray by the time the Bucs face them in Weeks 15 and 17.

This kind of helpful stuff isn’t delivered to the Bucs via the football gods very often.

Joe’s not cheering for injuries here, just noting that the Bucs’ path to the postseason has gotten easier in a hurry.

I’m still laughing at that Falcon’s loss… That was hilarious. Up by 15 with under 5 mins to go and they blew it. LOL!

  2. Rod Munch Says:

Todd Gurley – 21 carries, 61 yards, 2.9 yard average.

Wow, where have I seen that stat line before? It’s almost like the offensive scheme matters.

I laugh with you but not too hard. That keystone cops drill we pulled last week against New Orleans was also horrible.

Maybe Brady is football Jesus and asked dad for some help

    Oh Man !!!
I really feel for Saquon Barkley

  6. stpetebucsfan Says:

Brady is a fine Irish name. Perhaps Tom has brought the “Luck of the Irish” with him.

When I hated him as a Patriot I always believed he had superior luck…like when Pete Carroll gave him one of those SB’s with a boneheaded call.

  7. Lamarcus Says:

That’s sad….. we have to depend other teams injuries to think we have a shot

  8. Rod Munch Says:

stpetebucsfan – The Bucs didn’t blow a huge lead, they just lost to a team last week that was better than they were and might have the best defense in the NFL.

  9. Rod Munch Says:

Lamarcus – Really? Because the Saints literally took out one of our star players with a cheap shot and I didn’t hear any talk about how ‘sad’ the Saints were, they were just happy with the W, and happy with the idea that they can hurt a division opponent.

  10. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

Path to the playoffs came with Brady.

    nice try Joe!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

And, the Gods were shining on Joe with his big bet on the game giving 8 1/2…..looked at the end that the Panthers would score…..and the Fournette TD helped….
I bet some Buc betters were sweating….

Somehow, our Bucs will make most games interesting toward the end….one way or another.

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Rod

Point taken…the Falcons blew more than us…pun intended but our play cost us any chance of winning and sealed the deal.

  17. Jerk0404 Says:

Npup you really are a crying miserable little b. All the luck and all the calls. 2 dropped td passes. Your spank bank material needs 2 guys to go down to see the field. Don’t get too excited I brought up Winston and going down. I know you got excited after that line.

  18. Iamabuc Says:

That’s right Lamarcus….. I’m with RodMunch….not sorry one bit. As hard as it sounds; you need to remember all this year’s were the Bucs have lost big time help (Karl Nick’s, Sweazzy, etc….) due to injuries. It just fair that at last we catch a break.

Yeah michael thomas is out so makes it that much more exciting

  23. xxvii Says:

Denver should quickly trade for Winston 😉

NDOG- I am completely with you on how JW got F-ed by his “buddy” Arians and Jason Licht, but at this point, it is time to get back on the Bucs train and enjoy the ride. Can’t blame Brady for coming here. If Bowles lets our defense loose in NO like he did yesterday, we may be 2-0. Gotta take your chances in this league. We sat back and let Brees pick us apart. We have to excuse Game 1. I will still root for Winston as long as he isn’t playing my Bucs. I still say he wins 2 Super Bowls by the time he is done but for now, let’s go Bucs!!! JMO
