Top-Three Offense?
September 6th, 2020How good is the Bucs offense going to be this year? A national talking head has an idea.
Now before Joe gets rolling, this video was recorded recently, before news that the Bucs signed Leonard Fournette to make their offense complete.
Colin Cowherd, who used to work local radio and TV in the Tampa Bay area back in the 20th century, was talking Bucs football on his FS1 TV show and a question was lobbed. Can the Bucs have a top-three offense this season?
As Cowherd explained, why yes they can.
“This is easy,” Cowherd began. “They had a No. 3 offense last year. Which is hard to believe, right? With all of those interceptions.
“They’ve added Gronk, they’ve added Brady. They’ve upgraded right tackle. They’ve added LeSean McCoy.
“They were a really good team at the end of last year. They were just a turnover-prone mess, offensively. But their defense was better. They haven’t had good special teams in forever. That, to me, is their biggest hangup.
“But they will have a top-three offense.”
And then you add Leonard Fournette to this ice cream sundae. Wow.
The only team Joe can see with as much or more offensive firepower in the NFC than the Bucs is the slimy Saints. And that’s a big if.
A week from today, folks. A week from today. 🙂

Let’s play an actual game in this Covid stricken season, before we crown ourselves.
Still waters run deep.

Top ten offense for sure. Top five offense if everyone stays healthy. #1 offense if we win the Super Bowl.

Gonna be FUN as long as TB is standing!

Quote from article, “They haven’t had good special teams in forever. That, to me, is their biggest hangup.”
I agree – this is our biggest weak spot. Seems like Keith Armstrong is going to use more offensive players this year to fill the ST. Ryan Succop is more consistent and should be an improvement at short distance.

@ Alabama
Cutting Dare O. will not help our special teams… That was an odd move in my opinion. Dare was a special teams captain.

Defense is going to be greatly improved, 2nd year, talent upgrades and not having a go back on the field after interceptions

I think we will be a top offensive team, but not in the same categories as last year. With Fournette, the gap between passing and rushing should close. I would also anticipate yards more evenly spread among the skill players.
A balanced, potent offense doesn’t need 5,000 yards passing.

I would imagine that he will be added to the practice squad later today. The rule have changed due to the Covid-19 and I think he will be eligible this year.

^^^further more, where we are ranked should be irrelevant anyway. It’s about WINNING! I’ll take 3 yards and a cloud of dust if it wins us the Super Bowl.

If the defense plays as good as the end of last year and without Jameis throwing 30 interceptions and a half dozen fumbles, we should be keeping the other team’s offense off the field thus increasing our time of production/possession. I imagine Brady will surpass 5,000 yards.

The sheep will soon learn what the “real” fans already know!!!!!!! That you cannot just buy an old roster and slap it together for a one year window!!!!!!!! Worse than the sheep finally “realizing” this fact, will be the years of top 5 draft picks that will come from this so called “all in” which is “really” ole stale biscuit being “old and desperate”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Ice creamsicle sundae”…it was right there 😉

With all this talent, they ought to be the #1 offense, provided everyone stays healthy.
September 6th, 2020 at 11:33 am
I think the Saints main advantage is they know their system extremely well and have continuity. They are very talented and coached well. I think at this point we can say we have more talent on paper. For whatever reason it seems rare that talent on paper translates to trophies. I sincerely hope that isn’t the case with us….

Perimeter Blocker Says, “I think the Saints main advantage is they know their system extremely well and have continuity.”
The Saints have a top tier Offense but I think our defense matches well with their offense. On the other hand, besides their DE (Jordan and Davenport) and CB Lattimore, the rest of the Saints defensive players are just average.
The Saint have one of the best Offensive tackle tandems in the league, but they are undecided on their center. Their offensive scheme requires their tackles to go one and one with the opposing DE. If Shaq and JPP can put pressure on them, Brees, like most QBs, tends to make mistakes.
Like Brady, Brees also has a quick release. The Bucs DBs have been practicing on this by going against Brady and should be better prepared this season.
I think this will be a shocker to most viewers outside of TB. Since the Saints are slow starters, I predict a win by a touchdown.

@ perimeter
I agree. The Saints are going to be a tough test week #1. Most of the main offensive components have been in that offense for several seasons already.
September 6th, 2020 at 1:50 pm
If we stay healthy we should score 40 a game.
That should be the no.1 offense.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:36 pm
‘They were just a turnover-prone mess’…
If not for that they should have won the last few games and made the playoffs and then who knows…
they have made multiple upgrades and finally have an impressive looking team ON PAPER.. Hopefully it is about to translate onto the field…

‘They were just a turnover-prone mess’…
If not for this they should have won their last few games and made the playoffs…
At least they have upgraded several positions and should now be worth watching!

“You build teams inside out
The weakness of the team is offensive linemen Dope Smith and Fat Cappa
The offensive line is going to destroy our offense and our green gullible cornerbacks will deter the success of our defense
We need a solid veteran offensive lineman and a shutdown corner”

I could care less about their offensive and defensive rankings… The only stat that matters is wins!
