Three Plays For Jordan Whitehead

September 20th, 2020

NFL defensive players love to talk about making plays.

Today, Bucs safety Jordan Whitehead made three, including two huge ones in the first half against Carolina.

First, there was Whitehead’s awareness and athleticism on the butchered screen pass by Teddy Bridgewater. It might have been a different game if he didn’t squeeze that unexpected throw. And there was Whitehead shooting in on the Panthers’ ill-advised fake punt to make the tackle and force a turnover on downs.

A tackle for loss came later and it feels like Whitehead did a good job shaking off a minor injury and a major mistake in the Saints game.

At 23-years-old, the Bucs have a hard-hitting safety in Whitehead who has a lot of games under his belt and overflowing confidence.

Very exciting stuff from a fourth-round pick.

I though the secondary especially safety would be a liability but man oh man, Whithead and Winfield are balling. Our entire defense is really coming together nicely.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Wasn’t it Whitehead who came shooting in on the first Panthers play in the 2nd half, to get McCaffery for a 4 yard loss? That was a hell of a play, the way he shot the gap.

AGAIN….before we annoint superstars and bench actual stars perhaps we can remember this was the SECOND game these guys played!!!

No preseason…no intersquad scrimmages….geez…the Bucs still look inconsistent. Can you believe it?

So lets dump on anybody who had a bad play today. Because after all we all know that two games is a very large sample size upon which to base our opinions.

Clodhopper nailed it re this game….this is a game we lose last year.

Joe you might need to keep a running track on “3 plays” It might be closer to 6 or 7 today. And I remember Winfield looked darn good as a blitzer last week. Today he continued that and you could make a case he was our MVP. Winfield after two games is already a solid player. Then today we see some splash play. He has been amazing so far ROY considerations. What a player!!
    GO BUCS!!

yeah i’m loving our safeties and our corners, i do think there is still a lot of room for improvement, the defense saved the day today, i guess that is what complimentary football is all about, and hat’s off to big badass leonard fournette, i just do not see rojo starting any longer, i did not think it would take fournette long, he sure is going to help brady out, hope the dirty taints lose monday night

So very happy to read this post, especially since I took the headline to mean that he only played three snaps!… in total!!

  14. Buccfan37 Says:

This up and coming Bucs defense could have a different player of the week every week.

  15. Brandon Says:

Wanna talk about someone that needs a life? BucAnthem is literally the first two comments on every post by Joe and all he does is complain and cry. What a miserable little turd. Don’t you have a puppy to kick?

  16. CT860 Says:

Whitehead is a baller hard hitting & love the emotion he plays with.

The Defense is coming together really well. Once Shaq starts getting those sacks it’s gonna be a problem for any offense to handle. The corners are playing lights out. Love Davis & Murphy… Dean definitely had a way better game then last week. Definitely a lot to fix put we look good on that side. That’s what you call Buc Ball

  17. firethecannons Says:

yeah, kid balls out and has a ton of experience by now
we are balling in secondary now and they are the future
