“Nobody Is Tougher On Run CMC”
September 23rd, 2020It is cool as heck for Joe to know one of the best running backs in the NFL struggles against the Bucs.
Christian McCaffrey was hurt Sunday when Devin White tackled him on a second-half touchdown run, and he will be out at least a few weeks. He wasn’t exactly lighting up the Bucs before he got hurt. He had 59 yards on eight carries (though he had both of the Stinking Panthers’ two touchdowns on Sunday).
Clark Judge of SI.com points out how Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is McCaffrey’s kryptonite.
It figures that it’s Tampa Bay that sidelines Christian McCaffrey with an ankle injury. Nobody is tougher on Run CMC. A year ago, McCaffrey had 68 yards rushing on 38 carries in two games vs. the Bucs and averaged 55 yards from scrimmage. He averaged 163 vs. the rest of the schedule. Now this.
Why is Joe posting this? Because during The Lost Decade, it sickened Joe to know there were players who absolutely lived off the Bucs. Guys like Drew Brees and Julio Jones and Cam Newton just absolutely cleaned up on the Bucs.
How the Bucs are able to contain McCaffrey tells Joe the tide is turning with the Bucs. Finally. Instead of players piling up numbers on the Bucs every time they play Tampa Bay, now the Bucs seem to hold down Pro Bowlers.
What a refreshing change.
Just think, Bowles’ hex on McCaffrey is so strong, he even found a way to have Vernon Hargreaves stonewall McCaffrey.

Steve’s brother was not impressed with Todd Bowles.

How’d the Panthers manage 3 touchdowns they scored 17 didn’t they?

Joe, you guys do a GREAT Job !
I would sure like to see some articles about the Denver Bronco’s, our next opponent.

Joe starts doing that on Wednesdays after the team’s press conferences.

I don’t think McCafferry was 8 carries for 559 yards, Joes — typo!

I did it too!
He was 18 for 55.

McCaffrey is damn good and the closest thing to Marshall Faulk in the NFL right now. The 2 touchdowns that we gave up to him sucked, but I’m still proud of our guys for stopping him from going crazy against us 3 games in a row.

McCaffrey is way better at the pro level than I ever thought he would be.
Pretty awesome the Bucs D has been able to mostly shut him down every time under Bowles. Gotta love the way our secondary has been playing too, especially our safeties. They’re not mistake-free, but you see the potential For greatness is there.

Make offenses one-dimensional and they become beatable. And don’t fall for the “passing league” junk. We proved that theory wrong. If you put the ball in the air enough times, you WILL turn it over. 7-9 and #3 offense proves it!

It was 59 yards on 18 carries……..not 8

I’ll never forgive him for the Rose Bowl against the Hawkeyes. He tore up Iowa and made us look like dumb donkeys! Was pissed when the Stinking Panthers drafted him thinking I’ll have to deal with this for ten more years. Good thing him tearing up the Bucs was short lived.

“Kobe Faker still does not believe CMC is a elite runner
Very very overrated
Not big and strong enough nor fast and quick elusive enough
Kobe Faker has seen the truly greats and CMC is not elite
1000 yards run and rec is overrated and many running backs will achieve that in the coming future
Break that down per game and the average per game yards per run and passing yards is pedestrian
CMC vs a truly great like Marshal Faulk??????
Lol! Little boy couldn’t hold Faulks jock
Kobe Faker
Would rather have Leonard Fournette than Ed McCaffreys kid”

@Kobe Faker
I hate to defend the enemy, but from their physical characteristics (height, weight, etc.) and what they produce running/receiving, CMC and Faulk are eerily similar. Granted, CMC needs to play for many more years, but he is on a similar career trajectory. Btw, pro football reference can be a good friend if you allow it to be. 😛
