“I Give Him A ‘C'”

Not impressed.
Nick Wright of FOX Sports doesn’t get it.
The professional hollerer of “First Things First,” seen and heard weekday mornings on FS1, couldn’t believe his fellow panelists, including Brandon Marshall. The panelists gave park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady high marks in recording his first win as a Bucs quarterback last week.
Wright seemed to think his fellow panelists gave Brady a break and scolded them. In short, Wright was unimpressed by how Brady led the offense.
“I’m starting to get worried about the standard that America has evidently decided to hold Tom Brady to,” Wright said. “We’re giving him B’s, we’re giving him “Good” for a two-turnover, 200-yard performance to a team that might have the No. 1 pick in the draft. [Claps] Bravo. Well done.
“What, are we grading him on a curve? Seriously? What are we doing here? I give him a ‘C.’ He did avoid his fourth-straight game with a pick-six. So his streak was broken. He deserves credit for that. But the overall game? C’mon.”
When Wright received pushback that he was too harsh on Brady, Wright replied, “I’m not tough [handing out grades], I’m honest.”
Did Brady have his best game last week? No. But he didn’t get a whole lot of help in the second half until Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians decided to start feeding Leonard Fournette the ball.
Let’s hope Brady has a solid game today. Joe fears the Bucs may need it.

I expect to see a lot of new things on offense today.
Probably will be some mistakes.
I hope penalties are low. I expect the defense to dominate the Broncos.
2 picks is what we need 5-7 sacks and hopefully a TD on defense.

I think a C grade is about right. Brady has been average at best. I know I know, there’s been drops but still. There’s room for improvement.

Yeah this is the pessimistic joe that doesn’t understand how the Bucs didn’t draft Johnny football or why they would give up America’s QB pro bowler Jameis Winston for home invadin Park violatin Tom Brady.

As with most national media types I’m sure he looked at the stats, never saw a play from the game and now preaches from his podium. Perhaps he missed the 3 terrible drops that would have given Brady a 300yrd/3td game.

Brady didn’t have a good week one, then had an excellent first half last week, then was meh in the 2nd half. Dropping 3 TDs, and having Fournette go down at the one inch line on a pass has hurt his stats, and most people who talk about this stuff just look at the box scores.
In any case I agree, except to say he’s probably more of a C-. There is no way that Brady is happy with his production so far, which is a good thing since it means there’s a lot to come still. Brady is still learning the playbook, still adjusting, and I doubt you’ll see him master anything in the first half of the season. I still think he can play well – for example I expect him to play well today – but I think it will be a while before we see him click on all cylinders.

More blah blah blah… Brady threw some beautiful passes. And they won. All the rest is talk from people who are paid to have something controversial to say. They guy who says Brady looks like Tom Brady isn’t gonna get the clicks or the attention. If Brady throws for 200 yards and we win, that’s a W regardless.

Bucs are 2/1 & improving. No need to grade 1 of the best qb’s in NFgL….
