“He’s Given Me A Lot Of Free Will To Go Out There And Make Plays”

September 22nd, 2020

Joe called out Ndamukong Suh for an early-fourth-quarter loaf against the Saints. On Sunday versus Carolina, Suh was anything but a loafer.

He was chasing speedy ball carries down from the behind and his pass rush was revitalized.

Suh had 2 1/2 sacks all last season but racked up two sacks of Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday.

“I got lucky,” Suh humbly said on ESPN TV after the game.

Suh went on to explain to the national audience that the Bucs executing their plan early to shut down McCaffrey led to a lead, which gave them more chances to chase the quarterback.

Interestingly, Suh calmly said he’s a Buccaneers because of the high expectations for the team and a shot at a Super Bowl. “That’s why I came back,” he said.

Joe will note that both Suh’s sacks Sunday came with Will Gholston rushing inside and taking on double teams, and Vita Vea off the field.

Suh also shared his admiration and appreciations of Todd Bowles. “He’s given me a lot of free will to go out there and make plays.”

    Love Suh!

Stud, smart, competitive, mature, DURABLE AF!

I hope we can get to the playoffs and see Suh try and win his SB.

Ndamukong translates to “house of spears”. Couldn’t ask for a better competitor.

  2. Mitch Says:

Vea looked like he’s have trouble some this year. He gets good initial push but he’s not as disruptive yet this year and has people just bounce off of him without making the tackle. I have to wonder if it’s related to his hand injury.

  3. Jeff Says:

How is Geraldine looking these days? Soft, you say?

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Our defense is getting the job done stopping the run…..we shut down Kamara….last night he had 79 yards rushing & 95 receiving…
We essentially shut down McCaffery……put him out of action for a few weeks….and we put Michael Thomas out.
We are punishing Defense and Suh is a big part of it.

  5. BucEmUp Says:

Agrees Vea looks like a shell of himself, out of shape.

  6. Fred mcneil Says:

    Such has a monster game!

  7. Pablo Says:

Can we talk about Carlton Davis being a top 10 at his post? Pablo likes what he see

  8. Fred mcneil Says:

    Suh had a monster game.
    Autocorrect really sucks.socks.

  9. Fred mcneil Says:

    see?

  10. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I had high hopes for Vita Vea this year. Not sure why he is so out of shape. He needs to do more during the offseason if he expect a large second contract.

  11. Bradinator Says:

I expect the issue with Vita is the hand injury putting him behind. When your main go to move is a strength based bullrush and you can’t lift weights and use your hands properly in practice, it’s gotta throw you off.

Suh had a great game. He really blew up guys out there.

I have always been a fan of Will Gholston. You cannot run the ball anywhere near him. If he’s developed a pass rush too, that would be awesome. The dude always works hard.

  12. Swampbuc Says:

    Gerald who?

  13. Destinjohnny Says:

I tell u who has been playing slow and uninspired is 50

  14. Destinjohnny Says:

Vea has been that guy this year
    Unimpressed

  15. DoooshLaRue Says:

Ease up on the GMC stuff guys……..

……or else the Poi Boi, Hawaiian Buc will awaken from his slumber to chime in and remind us all of what a great person Softy is and how all of us haters are just bad, hateful people for not believing the bullish!t.

However, Gummy is gone and the defense now plays great and with a lot of passion.

    Coincidence?

  16. Wesley Says:

    Freakin love this guy!!

  17. JimBuc2 Says:

Uh Fred, FYI autocorrect is optional. Get to your phone’s settings and turn it off. Isn’t it the very definition of arrogance that some pinhead engineer actually thinks he knows better what a user intended to type, autocorrecting ‘errors’ on the fly? Go Bucs! Beat those Broncos
    Go Trump! Keep America Great

  18. Cainishere Says:

Both McCoy and Suh are above average players. Suh is far more aggressive than McCoy was.
It saddens me to not read that Suh likes the Buccaneers.
He fits this team so well and looks bad ass blowing up guys.
Maybe the team needs to try and get closer to ole Mr. Angry Bird.
Lose Suh and you will lose the defensive intensity.
I told you it starts with him, he sets the tone.
If Suh is pancaking guys and getting sacks? you are going to win the game
See last season, offenses plotted against Suh and David and JPP and Shaq ate em alive. Now they watch for JPP and Shaq and the rest of the team opens up on them.
Suh is your anchor who deserves some love.
    GO BUCS!!!

  19. JimBuc2 Says:

Fumble! There’s a lib at JBF World Headquarters. What a shame.

  20. 813bucboi Says:

suh and gholston look better than suh and vv right now….

hell ive seen nunez-roches look better than vv at times….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  21. xxvii Says:

damn never noticed how massive suh is lol…huge arms, big neck, small head.
he played well for sure tho

  22. Hodad Says:

Vea is doing his job clogging the middle. That’s what we drafted him to do, he’s not a pass rushing DT, he’s not a 3 tech like Sapp, or McCoy. He’s doing what he’s supposed to do. The kid I’d like to see get a few snaps is the rookie Davis. His future would be brighter if he got some game snaps next to Suh while Suh’s still a Buc. He’s more of a 3 tech, then nose, so let’s see if he can get to the QB.

  23. August 1976 Buc Says:

Suh still a force, and part of a legitimate NFL defense. GO BUCS!!!

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

He has been the prefect replacement for G McCoy, who I believe is out for the season?

Honestly, Suh has really impressed me. At his age, he shows little sign of slowing down. Same as JPP.

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I hope Shaq Barrett started getting some sacks soon.

  26. Bucsfan951 Says:

Going into the season, I was really excited to watch this offense and was nervous about the defense. After 2 games, it’s flipped. I am excited to watch the defense take the field and get nervous when the offense comes out.

I am chalking the offensive woes to no preseason and a really weird camp. If this offense can continue to grow and this defense can stay consistent, this team can really make the playoffs.

Can you say cautiously optimistic 🤷🏻‍♂️

  27. ModHairKen Says:

Suh is one of a number of very good free agent signings by Licht, anbd it is about time he gets some positive recognition.

    Suh is awesome!!!

  28. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Imagine being on that dudes bad side!! That dude could have been a boss of a criminal!! Lol… Imagine that dude in prison just absolutely mauling people!! Dude is an animal!!! He could wrestle a dang gorilla and hold his own!!!

  29. Cainishere Says:

I know that I lead the charge in signing Suh into retirement whenever that will be.
I am sure Suh will eventually become beloved here it is just a matter of time throughout this season.
I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t like the defense he is playing on.
I also find it hard to believe that he likes going to teams going no place?
The Buccaneers will be the team he will need to cement himself in the minds of people’s memories. That ferocious Buccaneer who demolished just about everyone who is in front of him. Even holds his own when double teamed. In Canton as a Buccaneer. With that much effort from him. why not appreciate old vets and sign them into retirement contracts heavy on incentives with injury out agreements. Suh would feel a lot more appreciated and we would keep our intensity. Same with David JPP ect ect

  30. alaskabuc Says:

Joe- I like how you have Gholston some recognition for his contributions. He is playing the best ball of his career and I think should be given legit pro bowl consideration if he continues to play at this level.

  31. Joe Says:

Won’t go there quite yet with Gholston as a Pro Bowler but he is having his best season so far.

  32. Rod Munch Says:

The play where you could see where Suh wasn’t loafing was on an outside pass to McCaffrey where Suh took a good angle in pursuit and chased him down from the side for a solo tackle. Just nothing something you really expect to see from him.

Gholston had the best game I can remember him having. Not sure who is on that Carolina line, but whoever was playing left guard was awful.

  33. adam from ny Says:

vita is just out of shape…

    it’s glaringly obvious…

    wait until about week 5…

they have always been concerned about him early in the seasons with the heat as well

  34. adam from ny Says:

dam we have a great front 7 though…

  35. Rod Munch Says:

adam – have to wait until the temps get down for Vita to play more minutes. But also remember that he was once again “injured” during camp, so he didn’t get to practice during the summer as much as he wanted to. I’m sure he really really wanted to be out there practicing to build up his stamina…
