Friction!

September 17th, 2020

Says what he means.

Can you imagine a football coach who said a player who didn’t play well actually didn’t play well catching so much flack?

That’s sort of the coddled world we live in. So when a coach does speak the truth, it unnerves people.

Bucco Bruce Arians is old school. Remember, this guy coached for Bear Bryant, who has been dead, what, some 40 years?

Joe can only imagine what Bryant would have said about a player who didn’t play well. Whew.

So Arians being Arians — blunt — and Brett Favre’s alarm bells have really lived up what is normally a yawning midweek in the NFL. Naturally, the four-letter is all over this alleged controversy and Jenna Laine of ESPN took to the airwaves this morning to offer insight.

In short, Laine suggests there is no issue between the park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and Arians.

Bill Belichick rarely criticized Tom Brady in public during the 20 seasons that him and the future Hall of Fame quarterback worked together in New England. The legendary coach often would just say some version of “everyone needs to be better.” Singling out one player, even if deserved, just isn’t Bill Belichick’s style.

Bruce Arians is different in that regard. He offered a harsh assessment of Brady’s performance in the Buccaneers’ Week 1 defeat. Arians, in his postgame press conference, put the blame on Brady for both of his interceptions thrown against the Saints, but on Monday he retracted blame on Brady for the first interception and placed it on wide receiver Mike Evans instead.

Bruce Arians didn’t retract any more of his criticism of Brady, though. In fact, he made even more critical comments of Brady when talking to reporters on Monday.

Yeah realistico…….yeah I’m sure that’s why Tom and Gronk came here…….cause they arent privy to the word on the street. They are just two suckers who didnt have a darn clue at all about what’s going on in the orginization……..And you know many teams were interested in Leonard……..I’m sure he just doesnt got no friends around the league that could tell him what’s up with the organization.

Yep your little speel makes a ton of sense……High profile players walking into One Buc blind as a bat. Not a clue what they were getting themselfs into.

I just hope you are a complete and total fraud……Cause you arent just a special type of stupid, you are a scarry type of stupid.

Now please forgive me as I go back to scrolling right on by your posts.

If it takes him 24 hours to figure out who screwed up, how are the players supposed to make in-game corrections? That’s just crazy. Starting to make Realist sound sane.

  8. Big Stinky Says:

Hate to overreact considering I expected to lose to the Saints but that was really bad coaching if you ask me. Don’t expect to beat the Panthers like I did before the season started. Forgot how bad it was last year until Sunday. Going for 2 down by 11 brought it all back, well some of it anyway. Hope Brady can somehow coach these guys up because Arians doesn’t seem to want to do it. If we can’t beat the Panthers we’re toast this year.

Using different tactics on different players has benefits. Not all are motivated alike. This is a non story that will manifest itself if the Bucs continue to lose; or disappear if they start winning.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Big Stinky now I know why we lost. Fans like you expecting us to lose. That’s bad energy and bad vibes in the fanbase…….Negative energy traveling all throughout Tampa Bay infecting out players.

Hey what can I say? I’m superstitious.

This is not the time for low expectations. It’s time to raise our standards and our expectations……Quit expecting this team to lose. This arent the 1992 Bucs no more. Your killing the mojo.

The worst you should ever expect is a tough game. Dont never expect us to get our asses handed to us. We are every bit good enough to hang with the Saints……Talentwise…..Next time expect a dogfight at worst.

  15. JimmyJack Says:

And sorry Big Stinky didnt mean to single you out. You are just one of many saying the same thing……You just happen to be the last guy to said it……and I needed to get that off my chest.

  18. Buccaneerie Says:

The team looked poorly coached….and that is what Bruce Arians should have focused on. Once again 100+ penalty yards. Once again bad decisions and even worse execution in special teams. Donovan Smith ranked 129th of NFL offensive lineman. Very poor results rushing the ball and unimaginative offensive play calling. I think to come down that loudly on one player when the team effort and preparedness was so weak was misguided to say the least. I think Tom should hold a press conference and discuss Bruce Arians 1st season Quarterbacks interception totals throughout his career. He might want to address the fact that Bruce Arians teams lead the league in penalties. Tom has proven his ” Grit” and “Determination” and ability are second to none. He could use a little coaching help though.

  25. Sesteprenelicus Says:

Favre is the genius in all of this. Who would be mentioning his name otherwise?

  26. orlbucfan Says:

Fabre, Brady and Gronkowski, 3 old relics. At least, Fabre is retired. Bucs will not have a winning season cos of the QB position. The 43 y.o. will get injured, carted off the field, and then the lousy backup, Gabbsrd, will replace him. Bowles’ improving defense and we fans don’t deserve this, but that’s what happens when inbreds own the team.
