Bucs Are In First Place
September 22nd, 2020Enjoy it, Bucs fans.
Your Buccaneers are now in first place in the NFC South thanks to former Bucs coach Chucky slapping around Sean Payton and the slimy Saints last night in Sin City in a fun game. It was the first home game for the Raiders in their new Las Vegas crib.
Thanks to Chucky’s win, it elevates the Bucs to sit atop first place in the division, tied with the Slimy Saints. The Stinking Panthers and the choking Dixie Chicks bring up the rear, commonly known as “Buccaneers Cove.”
Why was Sunday’s game so important to win? As Pat Kirwan said Monday on his show “Movin’ the Chains,” heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, if a team starts 0-2, then to have a firm chance of making the playoffs, that team would have to close out the season with a 10-4 run.
That’s damn hard to do for any team.
Every loss for the slimy Saints is a win for the Bucs.
Thanks Chucky!

Wouldn’t the saints hold the tie breaker? How are we first?

Celebrate!

The Bucs are not im first place.. How the hell are they in first place when they have a division loss a confrence loss and a head to head loss? You guys are supposed to know all the tie breakers…

I so hope that we kick Chucky’s a$$. I still like the dude, but he’s the enemy now.
September 22nd, 2020 at 2:07 am
Joe stop with the Click bait, Bucs are not in first place or even tied for it. Saints have the head to head win.

Gentlemen: Tiebreaking is a NFL procedure used for the PLAYOFFS, not after 2 games. Sorry to ruin your misery by pointing out that the Bucs are tied for first place with a 1-1 record.

Bucs are NOT in first place. Nice try Joes. 😬
September 22nd, 2020 at 4:39 am
Tie would go to Saints. 😉
September 22nd, 2020 at 4:50 am
The NFL tiebreaking procedure is for the playoffs. I don’t think they use tiebreakers with 87.5% of the season to be played.

We are currently tied based on record…the playoffs aren’t starting after week 2. Enjoy the Saints loss for crying out loud! Sheeesh!

This fanbase, though. Always half empty.

Agree although I think you’re being generous with “half” empty. Many go total chicken little with the falling sky.

Wow, almost everyone commenting here must have a miserable life. 1-1 and tied for first place baby!
September 22nd, 2020 at 7:15 am
Hey, give Joe a break. He doesn’t get to write “The Bucs are in first place often.” In fact, for the past decade or so if it could be written at all, it was up front in the season (like when Fitz was a the QB helm) before Mr. Interception #3 and his predecessors helped throw the seasons away.
Our Bucs have DEN, LAC, and CHI coming up. The Saints have GB, LAC, and DET. Let’s see (and hope) Joe can write this headline again in three weeks. And many times later, like Week 17!

We are in first place now tied with the Saints because tiebreakers do not go into effect until the season is over. Geesh. Quit nitpicking and enjoy the moment.

I just hope the next time around the Bucs throw the kitchen sink at Sean Payton’s offense. We’ve known for years Peyton is a “tricks for kids” type coach. He has no respect for us after trying to run the score up on us last week n last night went for two points vs extra point when there was no need to do so so. I’m so glad Gruden pound him with the tightend n rb.

So are the ones complaining about Joe saying the Bucs are in first place Karens or snowflakes? I’m starting to have trouble telling them apart.
September 22nd, 2020 at 8:29 am
ndog
were we ever in 1st with JW?….LMAO!!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!!!
September 22nd, 2020 at 8:41 am
They beat us head to head but the records are the same. This is just like 2016 when we were tied with Atlanta for 1st place but they had the tie breaker because of the conference games then we gave it away by losing to Dallas and New Orleans.
September 22nd, 2020 at 9:17 am
Man what a bunch of clowns. They are tied for first. Week 17 is the only time tie breakers are going to be used.
September 22nd, 2020 at 9:18 am
Saints are in first place, can’t put us ahead of a team that beat us
September 22nd, 2020 at 9:45 am
We’ll be the division leader if, and when we beat the Saints, and finish the season with more wins then any team in our division. Ties are for losers.
September 22nd, 2020 at 10:12 am
Gruden is doing an excellent job with the raiders, contrary to the mantra of local goobers.
September 22nd, 2020 at 10:49 am
After we beat the Broncos and the Saints lose to the Packers, sole possession of first place baby. Brady will throw for 300 yards and Fournette will rush for 125 yards.
September 22nd, 2020 at 11:15 am
I don’t care if we’re are tied or not. That’s not what matters. What matters are the Playoffs/Superbowl. How we get there is just scenery passing by….sometimes nice to look at, but when we reach the destination, the journey matters little.
September 22nd, 2020 at 4:31 pm
Not entirely correct, although the Bucs are indeed tied with the ‘aints, the ‘aints hold the tiebreaker because of head to head record with the Bucs, division record and conference record so it’s the ‘aints in first place and the Bucs in second place currently.
September 22nd, 2020 at 4:32 pm
Saints had a better divisional record than the Bucs so that is why they are in 1st
September 22nd, 2020 at 4:37 pm
Is everyone happy that we got that settled?
September 22nd, 2020 at 7:58 pm
Wow this is dumb. There are only 3 records in the entire league right now – 2-0, 1-1, 0-2. Yes, we sure are one of those.
September 22nd, 2020 at 10:34 pm
I enjoy watching the Saints get beat very much, I like Chucky and hope they have a good year
September 23rd, 2020 at 1:45 pm
What a stupid article, and totally false. We’ll celebrate once we’ve earned the right to, soon enough…
