Another Wounded Receiver

September 23rd, 2020

Injured

The guy who took the most snaps at wide receiver for our beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday did not practice today.

That’s Justin Watson, who appeared to hurt his wrist on a Tom Brady pass he should have caught against the Panthers. However, it’s officially a shoulder injury. Watson finished the game with two catches for 48 yards, including being on the happy end of the Brady-Leonard Fournette flea flicker play that netted 36 yards and put the Bucs in the red zone.

Chris Godwin is back to practice after missing Sunday’s game because of a concussion. So if Watson is out, Joe will not be concerned about the receiving corps.

However, Watson has a big role on a special teams unit that is rather than and inconsistent.

Hopefully, this injury isn’t lasting. Bucco Bruce Arians says it’s a “day-to-day” situation with Watson.

@clean I agree. Wind moved the ball coming in. That being said, he should’ve turned around for the catch. I got faith in him because HE’S on the TEAM.
    Go Bucs

  6. Ndog Says:

I’m surprised he didn’t blow out his knee on that duck Brady through him on the flea flicker that was three yards under thrown!

  7. All lives matter Says:

He really has become an integral part of this offense since the last couple games of last season. Get healthy Justin.

Amen Rico. I’ve wanted the like / dislike option forever. There are so many great takes here that it would be nice to show our respect and appreciation to those who make the JBF experience even better. And it also would be fun to pound the few idiots just as a release.

  9. Rico 210 Says:

@Bucs Fan Since ‘76 thank you.
I’m a since ’76 too. I love our Bucs. Man I sold 🥜 in the old Sombrero as a boy scout in the early ’80s.
    Go Bucs

Yeah tbh while I fully get how stupid Grayson’s play was I feel kind of bad for him. Hes so wet behind the ears and comes in and makes a silly mistake.. we’ve all done it. Doesn’t mean he can’t ever be a decent player. I guess if he never gets another ball thrown his way he’s still made it further than any of the rest of us who ever dreamed of being on that field lol

    thanks…lol…

im not giving up on the kid but man…lol…the staff will develop him….

    or switch him to DB…LOL…

    GO BUCS!!!!

Speaking of special teams, anyone heard of Jaydon Mickens. He’s our kick return man. Largely unknown outside Bucs’ circles. And I would add, largely unknown inside Bucs’ circles. That’s because he hasn’t done Jack S*@t this season. Fair catches every ball, even when he’s got return space. And on those few occasions when he decides to give it a shot, tends to get 0 to minus yards. We’ve got to find another kick returner.

  14. Coburn Says:

That’s another idea… WR that can’t catch often become DBs lol.. of course some guys just prefer to tackle than to be tackled

That drop by Watson was crucial. It was on a critical drive. A few plays earlier Gronk drop.

Not sure whats going on with these recievers by they better get their heads out of their rears. The blessing is we get Chris back. I have no idea what we can do at WR3…..Im betting the only reason Grayson was in was because Scotty was so bad. And then we get Watson and hes bad and hurt anyways…….Target McCoy, hell bounce back. And maybe get Brate going? Those are the only decent options i see.

Theyll probably give Scotty another chance. Im nervous itll work.

  19. Easy Says:

    Tyler Johnson time!

  20. Armybucfan Says:

As much as I hate to agree with NDog about anything!!!! That ball was if thrown properly to Watson would have been a touchdown because the safeties bit on the underneath run fake and he had nothing but room. Now that being said … everything else out of ndogs mouth is hard to hear because of how far he has Jay miss’s jock strap down his throat. The only other complaint that I have is our lack of utilization of our amazing pass catching TE corpse. On a happier note I do believe this team is getting better every game and look forward to our continued progressions towards greatness. GO BUCs

  23. JimmyJack Says:

Easy thats a good call on Tyler Johnson but hasent he been hurt for months? Sounds to me like they are stashing him for next year on the injury list.

I dont even think he practiced during preseason. Maybe Joe can clarify?…..Point is I wouldnt count on T.Johnson in 2020.

  24. Bucamania Says:

YES what is the deal with Tyler Johnson’s injury????

If he’s hurt that bad why isn’t he on IR? No one seems to have any answers.

  25. Bucsfan951 Says:

    NPUPPY

3 yards? Try 10! He had to stop, come back, and take a knee to catch it. It was a true duck!
