4 Injured Buccaneers

September 23rd, 2020

The first official injury list of the week is out.

Chris Godwin was full-go at practice after a concussion in Week 1, so he’s healthy.

However, Scotty Miller has a hip/groin situation and was limited in practice. Justin Watson did not practice, as Joe detailed earlier, with a shoulder injury, not a wrist issue as originally thought.

Donovan Smith is nursing his knee and was limited. No surprise there. And unfortunately, Jason Pierre-Paul showed up with a knee issue and was limited. Remember, JPP had offseason knee surgery and has had various knee woes through his career.

We can not afford to lose JPP!! He is a big part of our up and coming D….now is a time to bring in Clay Mathews for insurance. No depth behind Sack Barret and JPP. Anthony (nelson) who????

  2. Koryc Says:

    JPP will be fine

  3. Mitch Says:

JPP has a warrior mentality that is rare, and he has come back from two career threatening injuries including most recently a broken neck. He has worked through knee problems for the past few seasons and regardless of how much he practices during the week he will be full go on Sundays.

  4. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Never bet against JPP.

    Big mistake.

  5. Bucamania Says:

    Exactly. JPP is a WARRIOR.

  6. Clean House Says:

This genius BS better figure out how to use the tight ends since the 3 & 4 receivers are banged up, the 2 is coming back from head injury and the one has been nursing a hamstring-

Learn to adapt and get creative or suck, Arians

Up to you to take this ship down or not, Captain

  7. Cainishere Says:

I always worry about knees. NFL should fine heavily for deliberate hits to players from the knee down. I am ashamed to say that I have even seen Buccaneer defenders in the past attack the knees of an opponent.

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

Does it really matter if the Bucs use the Tight Ends or not, if they win?

  9. Mitch Says:

    @Clean House

Gronks first two games of the 2018 season with the Patriots : 5 targets 2 receptions and 24 yards.
Currently his first two games of the 2020 season with the Bucs 4 targets, 2 receptions and 11 yards with a bad drop.

Just like last week, Bucs news is being blow out of proportion because of Brady’s presence. Gronk will get more opportunities as the season progresses.

  10. PolkFan Says:

Brate seems to be the odd man out in the TE group, Trade/Release and get Clay here. Super bowl experience will do nothing but help this team, if one of the TEs go down I liked what Tanner Hudson showed last preseason. Hes ready.

  11. DaBux Says:

JPP is going to eat on Sunday. Driskel is horrid.

  12. Wesley Says:

    Rest JPP we’ll need him.

  13. SB Says:

So 2 WRs, our best Pass Rusher, and our starting Left Tackle
    Great!

  14. SOEbuc Says:

The Gronk media bullspit is over (for true Bucs at least). Get Cam Brate out there cus for some reason he’s been a ghost. A #3 WR but they’re not gonna put him on the field because he’s a TE.

  15. Anonymous Says:

Off topic but how refreshing to see our QB scream F-CK!! on the sideline after Rojo’s fumble. Much better than the previous “its ok we got this” or the look of “ahhh man”.

QB passion and putting up with ZERO BS!!

  16. RioDeJaneiro Bucs Fan Says:

    @jaycorr
    You’re completely right!
JPP is a warrior, but he cannot play 95% of the snaps all season long. Sooner or later it’ll take its toll. The depth behind him is unproven. Nelson played only 14 snaps in two games so far for a reason: coaches don’t trust him.
Clay Matthews played more than 50% of the snaps last year with the Rams and produced very well. He won’t be available much more time and he’s affordable.
Sign the guy to relief JPP and Shaq before one of them gets down with an injury. And to prevent fatigue during the games also.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

Rio I was loving the idea of getting Clay Matthews. But Im starting to wonder if its very realistic at this point.

Think of it from his angle he is staying at home staying in shape and probably waiting to join a team thats a serious contender so he can get a shot at a title. He probably want to take these games off to evaluate his options…….But something else he might be looking for is a chance to be the number 1 passrusher. And we cant offer that unless somebody goes down.

The Bucs might not even be on his radar. We will see where he winds up.

  18. SOEbuc Says:

Is Wirfs gonna switch to LT and Haeg start at RT if Smith can’t come back???

  19. teacherman777 Says:

    JPP is a G-O-D!

Most Fire in a Bucs uniform since we lost the Golden 5: Rice, Sapp, Lynch, Brooks, and Barber.

    Go Bucs!

  20. Allbuccedup Says:

Bucs should call Cordy Glenn for a workout before the Eagles sign him for a look. It couldn’t hurt plus Smith doesn’t look anywhere close to a 14.5 million dollar tackle.

  21. TOM Says:

At this point almost anything is better than Smith. Even his backup.
