“Understand The Offense”
August 18th, 2020Mike Evans is on track for the Hall of Fame if he can find four more years like his last four.
But every player can get better, especially a guy who turns 27 years old this week.
So Joe asked Bucco Bruce Arains today about how what more he’d like to see from Evans. The head coach served up an example.
“Well, it’s pretty hard to improve much. Just continue doing what you’re doing and understand the offense,” Arians said. “We had a little pick play run today and Tom through it and he wasn’t quite ready for it. He came back and he understood right away; he thought he was going to outrun the guy rather than just take it right now and get the first down. Just little things like in the second year of any offense, the intricacies of little things like that, I’d like to see Mike – which he is doing every single day – can’t ask for much more out of him.”
The exciting thing is that Evans can have organic improvement in Year 2 of the offense. Many other offensive players have spoken about the same thing, and it seems Tom Brady won’t have a huge learning curve.
Last year the Bucs finished third in total points and third in total yards. Can they get better? Joe would settle for just as good, sans the 30 interceptions.

If even one of our running backs ends up being above average, the sky is the limit for this offense.

I think they will get better with Brady at the helm. Just as the pick play Arians mentioned, little things like are going to add more dimension (i.e. diversity) to the offense. Three more weeks for everyone to get on the same page!

Organic IS an adjective, I’d love to see you use it as anything else. You can put your Captain Internet costume away.

So how do you have an ‘organic’
(adjective. noting or pertaining to a class of chemical compounds that formerly comprised only those existing in or derived from plants or animals, but that now includes all other compounds of carbon. characteristic of, pertaining to, or derived from living organisms: organic remains found in rocks)………….Improvement???
If you think it sounds right then it must be.
Like I said. I am not an English major.

First time in my life I have ever heard the term ‘organic improvement’ when it didn’t pertain to a fruit or vegetable.
I will just burn the Captain internet costume.
