“This Team Hasn’t Done Anything”
August 26th, 2020Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians is adamant: His team is not buying the hype.
The Bucs are being hyped as the next big thing like you cannot believe. Part of that is fans’ expectations after all the big-time player acquisitions. Another part is the belief one guy who is no longer with the team prevented the Bucs from a playoff berth last year.
Shoot, even the NFL itself is pumping up the Bucs to unreal heights. Look how many times the Bucs are scheduled to appear in primetime this fall?
Arians offered two reasons that his team is not drinking the Kool-Aid. The first is the best example.
“This team hasn’t done anything,” Arians said this morning.
He’s absolutely correct. Joe is scarred after year after year hearing coaches say how talented the Bucs are, only to see the team go out and drop a No. 2 of a 5-11 record on the turf of the Den of Depression.
Another reason Arians is confident his players have not swallowed the hype? Arians said when players think they’ve got it all figured out, that often shows up in practice. Arians said he’s not seeing it.
Joe does know this: Bucs fans are pretty much fed up with coaches bragging how talented the team is each summer, only to be watching other teams in the playoffs.

Well they haven’t even played yet so that is an understatement.

Time to print some humble pie shirts. Worked for the Belicheats for 18 wins in a row. Maybe they could have used it on that last game

Of course Bucs haven´t done anything, but please allow fans, specially the older ones like me enjoy this Hype…..
Ive never been this excited with the bucs in several years, and nobody is going to get that away from me……I hope everybody feels the way I do….

Brady speaks through action, coach is taking note and the rest of the team will follow suit.
August 26th, 2020 at 11:57 am
ZZ…….I sat through Every home game in the 26 game losing streak we started this franchise with!
I am Stoked! Believe me.
August 26th, 2020 at 12:03 pm
sb me 2 buddy
August 26th, 2020 at 12:17 pm
Bucs havent done anything since the early 2000’s.
August 26th, 2020 at 12:21 pm
Been a Bucs fan since 97, I was 14. 2009-2019 have been some of the toughest years to stay loyal as a fan, maybe not as bad as when the franchise was first conceived, but I can’t speak to that, as I wasn’t born yet. Sue me if I’m really excited about this upcoming season. I’m def tempering expectations, as I’m used to the disappointment of the last decade+, but I’m going to roll with this team till the wheels fall off!
August 26th, 2020 at 12:35 pm
I remember the sight of Jeff Garcia with his face bloody, when we played the Chargers, I believe in 08. We actually were pretty good that year, but of course lost the last 4 games of the season. That Jeff Garcia sight I have in my head pretty much epitomizes the Bucs for the last decade!

Let a plaque be emblazened with the words above!
Let it be displayed at the entrance to 1 Buc and behind
the desks of the owners! This is the yoke of the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers!

“This Team Hasn’t Done Anything”
And that includes the coaching staff!!!!!!!!!!!!
And just for Tampabaybucfan’s sake, I will say something “positive”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“This team hasn’t done anything,” Arians said this morning. Well said coach! Good point Joe…year after year after year it has ben said, “We got so much talent…” Blah, blah, blah.
Off topic a bit but look who’s back: Jeremy McNichols. signed by the Titans.
August 26th, 2020 at 2:13 pm
@Jaymiss pick6,
Mcnichols, LOL! I remember he pissed off Jason Licht after he didn’t make the roster with us, and he signed on the 49ers practice squad. It was on Hard Knocks I believe that year, look like Licht took it personal.
August 26th, 2020 at 2:38 pm
If I recall, didn’t BA just say this is the most talent he has seen on a team in 28 years of coaching? Sounds like he is buying into the hype.
August 26th, 2020 at 2:40 pm
Realistic – If the team makes it deep into the playoffs this year are you going to be so critical next year? Let me guess. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!
August 26th, 2020 at 2:50 pm
Thank you Mr. Arians. Just one of the reasons why I stopped commenting here so much. This Buc team is made out like they are unbeatable with showers of praises coming from starved fans despite not having played one game. The hype is off the charts. And we have been here before for many years. So I say wait and see what we got. As an older lifetime fan, I’ve been disappointed more times than I’ve been drunk..with my Bucs.(and thats a lotta times). So I will remain..cautiously optimistic. Hope fans are not disappointed given the anticipation. Bucs better win.

How about if they just make the playoffs unrealisto goes away all together. Heck why don’t you start now . POS

SB, add another to the list. I didn’t go to every home game, but I have listened to nearly every non-televised game since 1976 on the radio. And that can be tough! The difference this year is the addition of Brady. The pedigree he brings to the team and the offensive weapons that surround him (as evidenced by last year’s performance) suggest an offense that is going to be one of the greatest in Buc’s history. Add consistency to the front 7 and a developing secondary and who wouldn’t be hyped. I was hyped the year the Bucs were on Hard Knocks. I was hyped last year with Arians on board. But neither compare to this year. If we don’t get it done this year, I promise I will never succumb to the hype again.

@PSL
Yeah my dad bought Season Tix in 75. We were second row 35 yard line! Right behind the Bucs’ bench! He kept the tickets until 96 when we hired Dungy.
He said he was done paying for losing!
I have never let him live that sale down. 🙂

I love it when BA just slams the truth on the table. Gets away from all the Brady/Gronk national BSPN bullspit.
August 26th, 2020 at 6:17 pm
It is the truth. As hyped as this team is by the media and other entities.
The Bucs could come out with Brady looking worse than Winston.
August 26th, 2020 at 6:48 pm
Lets go after the ole Dolphin record…
August 26th, 2020 at 7:16 pm
SB – I must have been 30 rows behind you at about the 38 yard line. Went with my dad to tons of home games starting in ’76 at 6 years old. Gave up club seats in 2008 unfortunately but hit a few games each year if I can. Watch and listen to every second of all of it since ’76. Go Bucs!
August 26th, 2020 at 7:16 pm
@VABucsfan – your timeline is similar to mine: I started watching them in 95 during middle school. I remember Garcia’s bloody face vividly!
Ah, that 2008 season. At one point we were 9-3 or 9-2, tied for 1st in the NFC with Carolina I believe. I took my first trip out to California to check out San Diego. Bucs had 3 games during my trip, and by time I flew back to FL we were wrapping up our 4th straight loss to finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Good times
August 26th, 2020 at 7:18 pm
SB- giving up the season tix in 96? Ouch!
Understandable given the teams performance up until then, but damn.
August 26th, 2020 at 7:34 pm
unbelievable,
Good times indeed! 2008 was Derrick Brooks last year as well, my fav player of all time!

I’m brand new to the Bucs. Lived my entire life ranching here in Nebraska, following the Huskers through some of the greatest 30 years imaginable… followed by the worst twenty years imaginable. No NFL team really does it for most of us. But l am a huge fan of anyone in any field who consistently over a long period outperforms others who are just as talented or dedicated to their job. That was Tom Osborne. Whatever quality he had that brought out the best in some very average kids was truly amazing. Now that the Big Ten has ruined the party we need to look elsewhere for our football fix. That brings us to Tom Brady. He is another guy who just somehow stands alone above all the other greats. Couldn’t stand the Patriots. But this guy commands respect on a whole new level. Doesnt hurt that there are a few favorite Huskers down there too. Anyway… l guess that makes me a Buc fan now. Been reading this site all summer. A few of you guys might ease up a bit on your fellow fans. Thought we were supposed to all be in this together. Ease up on the negativity. Enjoy the ride. You’re still here after all those losing seasons… but things truly are moving in the right direction. How can that be a bad thing?
August 26th, 2020 at 8:46 pm
Come on now, for the last two decades, the off season is the best part of our year as Bucs fans. Don’t throw cold water on it! Bucs have completely won the off season again! Kind of kidding, kind of not. Not the first game has been played and the Bucs have a lot of changes to adapt to. Super Bowl or playoff talk is silly until we have a winning record and are a dominate team. For now, until we actually win something, lets enjoy the off season.
