Mr. 5,000?

Last year Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, became only the eighth human on the face of the earth to throw for 5,000 yards.

This year it seems Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians expects park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, 43, to throw for 5,000 as well.

Yesterday in a Zoom conference call with local members of the pen and mic club, Arians was asked which positions he expects to get more production from compared to last year.

Arians rattled off three positions. One was quarterback.

“The quarterback position,” Arians began. “We should have as much production and less negative production.”

A 43-year old quarterback throwing for 5,000 yards? That is nearly unthinkable. For example, for quarterbacks 43-and over, Vinny Testaverde holds the record for most yards thrown in a season with 952  — at age 44 with the Panthers in 2007.

The thought of Brady throwing five-times that much is absolutely wild to Joe.

Joe will just go ahead and type it: If Brady throws for 5,000 yards, Bucs offensive coordiantor Byron Leftwich will be interviewing for a head coaching job next year.

Think of it. If Mr. Entertainment is as horrible of a quarterback as some will have you believe, yet he threw for 5,000 yards with Leftwich, and then an old man seven years from AARP eligibility throws for 5,000 the next season, also with Leftwich, then Leftwich certainly knows what he is doing with quarterbacks.

Brady has thrown for 5,000 yards. In 2011, he tossed for 5,235 yards — and topped 6,000 after three playoff games.

  1. Bucsfanman Says:

“Production” and stats, specifically yardage, are NOT synonymous. Better production would be finishing drives and not turning the ball over. Finding and delivering to OPEN WRs.
I have said this a thousand times, yardage as “production” is irrelevant if it does not equal wins.
I expect around 4,000 yards and a much more balanced distribution.

  2. Alanbucsfan Says:

    The JoeBucsFan cult:

Worship at the almighty 5000 yard passing alter and equate ROJO to the Lars Tate/ William Howard era of the late 1980’s.

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

Winston’s yards were largely wreckless garbage yards from heaving the football as the Bucs desperately tried to get out of holes (that most often Winston) had dug. Winston also led the NFL in interceptions and it’s not even close.

Context of the word “some” here: Every single NFL team who needed anything more than a 3rd string QB. Don’t forget, the Saints actually drafted a QB. Yeah, a 7th round, but that’s really a bigger investment interest than $1.2 million to hold a clipboard. As it is, Winton has to compete for that. But yeah, he’s ballin.

Winston led the way of all NFL QBs who passed for the most yards in the NFL last year. How many of those Top 5 in total yards made the playoffs? ZERO. Goose egg. Zip. Check your sheet. Contrast: Yes, Tom Brady did it in 2011, on the way to a 13-3 season. Tom Brady’s 5,000 yards actually contributed to something…Conference Championship and trip to the SB.

  4. BringBucsBack Says:

It kind of sounds like it but, I hope Arians and Leftwich don’t have this magical number in mind as a goal for ego “strokage” or while calling plays. We should have a run game and hence, a more balanced offense if we are to make & win games in the playoffs. Brady: 4700 yards, 31 TDs, 12 INTs; Run game: 1480 yards, 11 TDs, as regular season totals.

    Big “O” there!

    Who dat?

  5. Ndog Says:

Roy you do understand there’s ways to actually look things up before you post it right? Cause you post more stuff that’s complete lies than anybody I’ve seen in my entire life. So there’s a grafic out there that shows that Jameis Winston was the passer with the least amount of garbage time stats in the entire NFL last year yet you post he’s all reckless and just has garbage time stats, again the least amount of garbage time snaps in the entire league last year by percentage not by total by the way.

Also Roy something else you got wrong, that guy they drafted in the 7th round they’ve already moved him to tight end cuz he’s not going to make it otherwise yet “Winton has to compete for that” right? Again please if you’re going to post something actually have some idea of what you’re talking about.

  6. Ndog Says:

Also if you listen closely the question was about depth not starters, yet this this lying, backstabbing, self promoting, non-accountabliity taking, overrated, non-adjusting “head” coach took the opportunity to throw his former QB under the bus yet again.

Keep in mind this is the same person that said just a year ago one of the reasons he came out of retirement was to coach Jameis Winston.

This is the POS you people believe in. He makes me sick and when this blows up hopefully he will held accountable for his arrogance and being a backstabber!

  7. Aceofaerospace Says:

All 32 NFL teams passed on signing Winston as their starting quarterback for the 2020 season, yet we still talk about him. Obviously, 5000 passing yards were not as notable as the interceptions. Otherwise, there would have been a bidding war for him.

  8. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

    Focus on wins.

  9. Ndog Says:

  10. SufferingSince76 Says:

I don’t recall very many people saying Winston is a horrible QB. He is a horrible decision maker, which negates most of the positives he has. You can’t talk about passing for 5000 yards without mentioning 30 interceptions and 7 pick sixes.

  11. D-Rome Says:

Newsflash Joe: Production is not only measured in yards.

Jay-Miss is a BUST. It would have been a mistake to re-sign him and the fact that he’s a bench-warmer proves the Bucs letting him go is one of the few correct decisions they have made over the past five years.

  12. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

I don’t care if Brady throws for 3000 or 5000 yards this season. Wins and losses are what counts in the NFL. And Brady is a winner!

  13. PSL Bob Says:

He could break 5,000, but if he does it will be different that the 5000+ thrown by Winston last year. There won’t be as many bombs, but a lot more YAC, which counts in the passing stats. RBs getting dump off passes and scampering for 20 yds is just as good as Evans having to jump high to haul in a 20 yarder and then being tackled immediately. But the 4000 mark suggested by others is probably more reasonable.

  14. Mike Says:

I love the “we sold the future for a rental” from the JW cult. How can you possibly know that JW would be able to ever get a team to or much less win a super bowl? We could have given that guy a 7 year contract and been screwed for the next 7years. YOU DON’T KNOW what will happen, so stop acting like we threw something away! If 7 years from now JW has SB rings the you can talk, until then be a buc fan and stfu about that guy.

  15. Youngbucs Says:

How many of the others had 30ints and 7 pick 6s? When they threw for over 5000???????

  16. Buczilla Says:

If an average quarterback prone to making big plays (both good and bad) can get 5k, I have no doubt that the best to ever play the game can do it as well with pretty much the same offense. I’m going to have faith that Brady is still elite until he gives me a reason to think otherwise. I waited 5 years for Jameis to cut down on his buffoonish plays, so I”m willing to give Brady a couple of games. 😜

  17. Leighroy Says:

Ndog, you’re right the information is out there! So let’s actually post those stats courtesy of nfl.com….

    Behind total – 2923, Behind by 9-16 Points – 1010, Behind by 16+ points – 398
    Tied – 633
    Ahead – 1553

These numbers don’t seem to be supporting your argument….

Also of note: 4th quarter QB rating: 67.5. Yikes!

  18. Leighroy Says:

    Piling on…

    4th Quarter within 7: QB rating 63.3, TD/INT ratio 1/5, 9 sacks compared to 89 attempts.

Oh and he had 1 attempt in OT that as we all know was a pick-6 to end his bucs career. You can do the math on his rating!

So really, JW3 got worse as the game got closer within reach. Ouch!

  19. Youngbucs Says:

Leighroy he’s just going to skip your post when someone says something else he’ll jump on that😂😂😂

  20. Youngbucs Says:

They don’t like when we post stat facts!!!! They gonna start talking about the defense or a run gm😂😂😂😭

  21. Patrickbucs Says:

Good job Leighroy! NDOG: “Pats will scoop him up and he will win multiple Super Bowls” reality, Broken down CM got the better deal.

The fact he’s still on here defending him is crazy and commendable at the same time.

  22. Ndog Says:

What’s crazy he is 26 years old and could play for 10-15 more years and people are closing the book on him.

Time will tell and it will likely tell us your wrong according to you know history based upon his production to this point.

  23. Youngbucs Says:

See what I’m talking about leighroy skip right on over your post😂😂😂😂😂

  24. Ndog Says:

His post was pointless as it has nothing to do my garbage time stats. Plus what different does it make if I skip over or not, no matter what anyone posts positive about Jameis you guys will find a way to twist it and try to make it negative because that’s what you do. You’ve been brainwashed it’s not your fault I understand.

Does anyone find it curious that the team that led the NFL in penalties last year, was on pace for the first 10 games to have the worst defense in history and have a kicker who missed two game-winning kicks never talks about any of that? Yet they talk about a quarterback that is gone? Is that not confusing or concerning to you at all? Do you ever wonder why the head coach of the team doesn’t ever mention anything that it is still wrong with the team? Interesting how he tries to deflect constantly never mentions anything that actually went wrong that was his responsibility, yeah let’s blame someone who by the way is it even here anymore. Do you find that weird, do you not see how clear this is or do you just not want to see?

I can’t wait till this bum is gone and hopefully he takes all of the brainwashed with him.

  25. Jean Lafitte Says:

Brady has already thrown for 5000 yards. Last year he threw for 4000 yards to a bunch of nobody’s, so there’s no reason with the weapons he has to close or even break 5000 yards. The only thing that could stunt his passing yards total is if we have a good running game this year. With good offensive balance he want really need to prove he needs 5000 yards to win.

  26. Mike Says:

You will find a way to twist it into a positive for JW n dog, you are just as guilty of all your accusations of the JW haters. I don’t hate JW, I just don’t think he is going to be a HOF like you seem to think.

  27. Youngbucs Says:

See what I talking about he ran right to defense run gm gibberish. Completely off topic he can’t refute what you posting so he goes on a mini rant saying it’s pointless 😂😂😂😭😭

  28. Youngbucs Says:

He’s a 🤡 he’d tried to set Roy T straight then you set him straight 😂 and now it’s pointless but he talk facts.

  29. Youngbucs Says:

Ndog Winston is gone and he didn’t take his brainwashed with him🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤯

  30. Ndog Says:

How did anyone set anyone straight, I posted a fact, there is no correcting a fact. Wow did I really just have to explain that.

  31. Ndog Says:

2019 Total Yards Leaders Without Garbage time stats:

    Jameis Winston: 4916 = 7.43% of total
    Dak Prescott: 4438 = 14.31% of total
    Phillip Rivers: 4285 = 7.73% of total
    Patrick Mahomes 4248 = 0.00% of total
    Lamar Jackson: 4157 = 4.06% of total
    Jared Goff: 4154 = 11.20% of total

  32. Ndog Says:

So there’s your proof but like I said it’s pointless because people can’t see beyond what they are told to see. You want me to also show you how well he played outside the pocket, or in the red zone, or on 3rd, etc…

There are a ton a ridiculously positive stats but you never get those because they don’t want you to hear about those, they just want you to think TOs TOs TOs and people fall for it hook line a sinker.

  33. bucsfan951 Says:

I am just glad BA saw the CANCER JAMEIS WINSTON IS and got rid of him and saved this franchise of more years of being irrelevant.

  34. Patrickbucs Says:

NDOG: been to Orleans over a hundred times for vacation and part of my work territory. Have 3 of my best friends that are season ticket holders, go to 3-4 games there a year, just saying. Not a one of them talks about JW. Sucks I can’t go to opening game.

You can bring up all these stats, etc. The whole NFL could of signed him, they choose not to. I could make more then JW this year if he’s cut with that awful signing bonus. I think he has a good chance at a comeback, maybe his closest is a lot more full then you know?

  35. Cobraboy Says:

To show I have compassion for the seriously unfortunate and mentally disturbed, in this case Ndog, who suffers from chronic acute Jameis Christ Obsessive-Compulsive Defense Syndrome, I hereby cast my vote for Jameis Christ for NFL Garbage Time All-Pro Team.

I mean, look at yo’ sheets, he be ballin’…

    Feel better, Little NBoo?

Somehow the Npup sees something 31 other NFL teams don’t.

Is JC still 3rd string, Npup?

  36. Cobraboy Says:

Ndog, there are several stat JC can never live down: int’s, unnecessary sacks, throws into coverage and fumbles.

I wonder what BA was specifically referring to with his “negative production.”

Obviously BA does not have you on speed dial as a consultant.

  37. Patrickbucs Says:

2 time NFL coach of the year screwed him

  38. 40TDs Says:

    Check the sheet!!!

  39. Youngbucs Says:

Ndog and he gave you a complete breakdown from nfl.com. Those same facts are mean nothing to you and are totally useless??? There about the exact same topic any body can cherry-pick stats. There’s 1000s out there to fit any narrative get your loser a$$ outta here.

  40. 813bucboi Says:

    JW str8 trash!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  41. Bucsfanman Says:

Here’s a “garbage time” stat for you guys: The amount of time talking about a player no longer on this team!

  42. Aceofaerospace Says:

I’m shocked that all 32 NFL teams passed on signing Winston as their starting quarterback for 2020. Didn’t any of them read Ndog’s posts? BTW, how old’s Josh Freeman? He’s probably got another 10 years left in him.

  43. Clean House Says:

I have something to add to this conversation-

I’ll just copy and paste the truest statement I’ve read in a while courtesy of NDog

5109 yds, #1 in Total offense, #1 in passing yards, #1 pass yards per game, #2 in TD’s right behind the MVP Lamar Jackson #1 on NFL 100. Check yo sheet suckas he was ballin!! In spite of the sack/ penalty no run/ kicking game dumpster fire.

Enjoy this serious wisdom and truth from NDog

Also if you listen closely the question was about depth not starters, yet this this lying, backstabbing, self promoting, non-accountabliity taking, overrated, non-adjusting “head” coach took the opportunity to throw his former QB under the bus yet again.

This is the POS you people believe in. He makes me sick and when this blows up hopefully he will held accountable for his arrogance and being a backstabber!

  44. Cobraboy Says:

@Clean House: nobody cares if you guys swap spit with your Lord and Savior Jameis Christ.

REAL Buc fans are ecstatic the TEAM moved on from America’s Turnover Machine.

WE are happy he’s eating W’s and checking those sheets while ballin’ on the 3rd string pine in NO.

So BA coached Jameis for a full year and found the dude isn’t coachable…just like he wasn’t coachable at FSU. His final collapse the last two games sealed his fate, and the myriad off-field immaturity just piled on more dirt.

Maybe you’ll join Ndoggie, the Pit Yorkie, away from JBF…

  45. BigHog Says:

    1700 yards rushing 2011 NE Pats…check your sheet….it’s a TEAM game!!!

  46. Roy T. Buford Says:

Ndog, it was garbage yards. Fact. Period.
Along with everything else I said. I don’t know if you are dude or girl, or somewhere in between, that’s in love with Winston, but it’s blind love…blind as a bat.

  47. Youngbucs Says:

Big hog quick go see the wizard for a brain. You really just put up a 2011 stat lol good riddance 🤡

  48. Youngbucs Says:

By the way big hog it is a team gm which means every one get held accountable. Take that loser y’all really thought someone was about to give this dude a mega deal lol he barely got his 5th year picked up.

  49. Patrickbucs Says:

Great point Big Hog they averaged about a first down more then. The Bucs yay! Smh

  50. Cobraboy Says:

Fact is HC lost the team.

    Everybody knows it.

Time to move on and hope JC cleans up his act, judgement and accuracy. Elsewhere. A fresh start for all.

  51. Cobraboy Says:

    JC, not HC.

Head Coach is fine. James Christ? Not so much.

  52. Clean House Says:

Uncoachae at FSU all the way to an undefeated national championship heisman trophy winning season and eventually the #1 overall draftpick
    Dumb comment

  53. Patrickbucs Says:

Zero talent on that roster Clean House

  54. Cobraboy Says:

@Clean House: he blew a gasket on national TV in the Championship Game.

    Check yo’ sheets.

  55. buc15 Says:

    NDOG/Clean House…….bruh…….check yo sheet
