Nobody knows how future Hall of Fame running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy will perform wearing pewter and red, but count on him not being a mail-it-in, check-collector free agent like some the Bucs have signed in recent years.

McCoy took to Twitter last night and made it clear that he has big goals at 32 years old. McCoy has rushed for 11,071 yards in 11 NFL seasons and he’s gunning for 12,000 in 12 years, something he dubbed the #12kChase.

Joe talked to Bucs legend Mike Alstott about McCoy this morning, an interview to be heard late today on a new Ira Kaufman Podcast. The message was not to count out McCoy taking command or to discount what he brings to the other running backs.

The Tweet below lets Joe know there is real competition at the position, which is a welcome change and should only benefit everyone. T.J. Logan and Ronald Jones already have drawn  training camp love from Bruce Arians. Joe’s not a fan of gifting young players jobs, which is one reason Joe’s a little stressed about the cornerbacks — and happy there’s a lot of strong competition among the running backs.
