Joe’s always interested in retired offensive lineman Max Starks talking Bucs because he spent many years around Bucco Bruce Arians and is a close friend of Byron Leftwich.
Starks is a sometimes co-host on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and yesterday he was asked whether he thinks Leftwich and Tom Brady are likely on the same page.
Starks assured listeners that they go way beyond a working well together.
“I think it’s like peanut butter and jelly,” Starks said. “They’re from the same era, so they see things very similarly.
“I think it’s a great cohesion between those two, you know, I talked to B-Lef throughout this and that was one of the biggest things, he’s like, ‘It’s so easy to have a conversation and make a reference and somebody gets it.’”
Remember when Brady was busted for walking into the wrong South Tampa house (nextdoor to Leftwich’s house) right after he signed with the Bucs? Starks emphasized that Brady hustling to Leftwich’s house is not the norm for a player and coach relationship, and it’s just fine to read into that as an example of the bond that’s been built.
It’s going to be so fascinating to see how this Bucs offense melds the desires of Brady, Leftwich and Arians.
