Bruce Arians Talks Leonard Fournette

August 31st, 2020

A 25-year-old running back just landed on the street healthy and not facing NFL discipline of any kind — after amassing 1.674 yards from scrimmage last season for the Jaguars.

That’s a rare happening.

If Bucs officials are really “all-in” to win it in 2020, then they’ll be on the phone to Leonard Fournette to try and set up an interview and a look at him in person. Please note that Joe didn’t just scream “sign the guy!”

There’s just not much more to say than that.

After practice today, Joe asked Bucco Bruce Arians if he is interested in Fournette.

Arians replied by praising Fournette and said, “We’ll have to just wait and see where he fits.”

Joe suspects Arians, Tom Brady and Jason Licht will having a conversation before lunch.

He would be better than runningback on the roster, except maybe Rojo, Im not sure how good he would be in the locker room though.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Can he play special teams….if not…..pass.

  3. Go Bucs 72 Says:

    Hard pass. No knuckleheads please.

  4. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

    Go get him coach!

  5. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

    All good here without him.

  6. Casual Observer Says:

    Too many RBs.

“He would be better than runningback on the roster, except maybe Rojo.”

That’s extremely hilarious. Excited for RoJo this year, but he hasn’t had 1,000+ yard season and his first two years were hidious.

  8. T.J. Grove Says:

We don’t need him. I agree. Pass, our stable is just fine

  9. Joe Says:

“Stable” may be the apropos word when describing Bucs running backs.

And no, Joe is not referring to the definition that equates the word with “secure.”

As in what you shovel out of a stable.

  10. Bucsd04 Says:

According to joe’s article he ran less than 2 yards last year so hard pass

  11. lokog Says:

i wouldnt but he better come to play if he does

  12. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

He is better thank any RB on our roster and better than the starting RB on more than half the teams in the NFL….on the field and locker room there is not any better teammates and leaders than what the bucs currently have to help with a dude like Fournette

  13. donuts Says:

Fournette would be an upgrade over every back on the roster. Hope Tom puts the pressure on Arians. NFL is a biz…let Rojo play special teams as returner. He did it in college.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

i think our locker room is strong enough to handle a guy like fournette….rojo still unproven and shady still has fumbling problem…lets go for it all….

    GO BUCS!!!

  15. Casual Observer Says:

    Why didn’t Jax keep him?

  16. lambchop Says:

This would be an all in move for 1 year. Why the heck not? Tom, Shady, and BA will keep him in check and motivate him.

If there’s a way to get him without too many casualties to our roster and cap, this is a no brainer.

I don’t hold his chaotic time in Jax against him, way too many players on that team hated it there for one reason or another and left to play well without being a malcontent for their new team.

  17. Sarasota Garey Says:

@casual observer, Jacksonville got rid of alot off their players from their playoff team a few years ago. There was a lot of distrust between the players, Coughlin, the front office and ownership. They got rid of Ramsey, Campbell, Ngakoue etc. Noone would trade for Fournette though.

  18. BillyBucFan Says:

I mean of course the guy is disgruntled.
Ramsey Ngakue and others were unhappy for a reason.

The dude is a no brainer on 3rd and 1

  19. BucEmUp Says:

    Sure….why not

  20. hammerhead Says:

    He’s a turd.

  21. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

There is a reason that we didn’t pick him up when Jax offered him to us months ago. The cost back then would have been 1mil. Something is up with him because he isn’t drawing much interest, and Jax just cut a 1,600 yard last year runner.

  22. Clean House Says:

Do whatever it takes to sign this guy.

  23. Casual Observer Says:

Sarasota – Thanks. His availability is still a puzzle. Maybe a clubhouse cancer?

  24. Sarasota Garey Says:

@casual observer, hes been suspended before, He punched someone in the middle of a game once.

Why is Joe asking Bruce when he should be asking Jason the question…interesting…

Jason Licht is only available twice a year and Aug. 31st is not one of those two times.

So you either ask Arians (who often gives direct answers) or Brady (who dances like a ballerina) who offers politically correct non-answers.

Or ask Leftich who responds to questions with answers to questions you never asked.

Pick 3 with depth chart: Rojo, Shaddy, Ogunbowale, Vaughn, Fournette, Devonta Freeman

    #1
    #2

    NOT TRUE!

He had 1,033 total yards last season. That’s a thousand yard season.

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Lenny will want too much.

  30. Jonny Says:

He is a very average power runner. He’s been a bell cow which has helped his stats, but I have rarely seen a game where I thought was Fournette was loaded with talent at the pro level. ???? He’s averaged 4 yards a carry with all the defensive focus on him for three years. And he has good hands. –Joe
