Brady’s Off-Field Influence

We all sort of expected park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady to sort of raise his teammates’ level of play, if for no other reason than his once-a-generation talent.

But it appears Brady’s influence extends past the football field and locker room at One Buc Palace.

SI.com NFL beat guy Albert Breer spent a couple of days at training camp earlier this week and noticed something about the Bucs that he hasn’t often seen with other teams this summer.

@AlbertBreer: Thought this was interesting–The Bucs have noticed how the receivers who worked with Brady the last few months have taken better care of their bodies. The proof is there, too.

Not a single veteran receiver of Brady’s has had a soft-tissue problem thru a month of camp.

That we know of.

Just yesterday, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians dropped a match on a bucket of gasoline when asked why Chris Godwin was missing so much practice, he said, “That’s for me to know and nobody else to find out.” Arians has been anything but secretive about other injuries Bucs players have suffered and battled through this summer. So why all of a sudden is he clamming up about Godwin?

Teams generally don’t try to hide or cover up minor or benign injuries. It’s the troublesome if not embarrassing injuries that teams get all Manhattan Project bunched up about (hello, J.R. Sweezy!).

(To be fair, there is no such thing as an injury report in training camp. Teams are not obligated to discuss injuries until the opening week of the season. The first mandatory injury report is released in 13 days.)

Regardless, the Brady influence seems to have gone from the football field to the trainers room with Bucs receivers. Hey, whatever it takes to win games and get this team to the playoffs.

Why not try and emulate one of the best in the business?
I agree with BigHog in that these guys should be ready every year but it does help to have an influential example to look to, as well

    park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Brady

WHY the Disrespect? Oh that’s right it’s Funny. To whom?

  7. Eddie Says:

Who ever you are your a jerk. Your park violating nonsense just shows how juvenile you are.

One of Joe’s writing style demonstrates a rather juvenile need for attention. He would be the one wearing the lampshade at an adult party. Seems like he’s still all butt-hurt his 5000yd homie got shown the door at One Buc. Rather than show the respect a six time World champion should command he chooses to slander and sully the GOAT. Shameful. This Buc fan is beside himself with joy that Tom Brady wears a Buccaneer uniform.

  9. Christopher Schiefen Says:

JimBuc, unfortunately Joe is still of the opinion this site was built on “the fan’s take”, so he thinks juvenile stuff is how fans think. In 2020. It’s a character and an outdated one at that. And since the site is fairly successful, he thinks he shouldn’t change or grow either, which is…actually a *real* juvenile thought.

  10. WillieG Says:

    Influence? Don’t you mean leadership?

    HEY JOE-

    park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady

Does feedback matter to you or is your obsession with bad-mouthing the GOAT and being childish take precedence over all?

The name of the Website in of itself lowers the expectations of the quality of content on your site. Then the disrespect shown towards the GOAT-that we are all pinching ourselves that he is now the Bucs QB-makes it hard to sit back and read article after article with that moniker you gave TB. WHY?? Who thinks it’s funny? Creative? Intelligent? No just Ignorant!
