Brady And The Florida Heat
August 17th, 2020It is a little bit different working out in the Florida sun in mid-summer (even at 8:30 a.m.) than it is under the gentle, cool breezes of a New England summer day.
Florida is a sauna. So much so Joe remembers when the Belicheats came to Tampa for a week of controlled scrimmages against the Schiano Men, that it was mainly for the Belicheats to get used to the Florida heat as they wanted to learn how to prepare for their AFC East division rivals, the Dolphins, when they traveled to Miami.
The Belicheats lucked out, but they didn’t. When they came to Tampa, it was unusually comfortable for a west-central Florida August day. Joe remembers Tom Brady even joking how cool it was and the big reason for the scrimmages being in Tampa was lost.
Interestingly, Brady is 8-10 in starts against the Dolphins in Miami.
So now that Brady lives here and plays for the Bucs, how has he adapted? Per ESPN’s Jenna Laine, Brady is doing just fine battling the Florida sun as you can see in a video report she posted last week.
My observations from watching Tom Brady practice yesterday from #NFLLive, including how he’s handling the elements, which concerned some folks when he signed with the Bucs. This 106-degree heat index this week has been no joke. pic.twitter.com/6wCuPYiVtJ

I remember the Patriots pre-season game. The Bucs looked lost (as usual then). I aslo remember Aaron Hernandez caught a TD pass. His life was already way south, but no one knew it for almost two more years.

The key factor in this Florida humidity is staying hydrated, and Brady is already known for his habitat of drinking tons of water all day long.
