“We’ll See How The Right Foot Reacts”

July 28th, 2020

Yes, Joe realizes the boot shown is on Justin Evans’ left foot.

Any hope for the Bucs’ second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft seeing the field this season seems like a dream today.

Injured repeatedly, safety Justin Evans hasn’t played a game since midway through the 2018 season. Myriad foot injuries have kept sidelined and unable to practice.

Asked about Evans today, Bucco Bruce Arians noted that he may be the only Buccaneer unable to go when training camp begins.

“He’ll probably be on PUP and we’ll see how the right foot reacts,” Arians said.

Right foot, left foot, hamstring, it’s been sad career for Evans.

Joe sure hopes rookie Antoine Winfield, Jr., comes as advertised and does a heroic job beating the inevitable learning curve.

No good to us on the training table. Good luck bro!

    Stick a fork in him

Didnt you hear Joe? Winfield Jr’s big knock was the injury bug!! If you look at his history i think he only played one complete college season. Can we get a healthy safety? And why do we draft a safety in the 2nd round who has injury concerns. The guy has tons of talent thats for sure but we already have Dean back there as a corner on two gimpy knees!!!

  4. gp Says:

Any player coming in off injured reserve will likely start on the PUP list until they can be evaluated.

  5. Allbuccedup Says:

    Time to release.

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

Good luck to you Mr. Evans. You gave it the Gladiators try and to your credit, milked it for all it was worth. But its time to say goodnite grace. At least you should if you are smart. I don’t think you can return to pro ball form.

  7. Jason Says:

Are rookie contracts guaranteed? If so he can opt out and take the $150,000 right? And his contract would be frozen until next year right?

Right foot? Left foot is in the boot. Smh

  9. Alexander Nascimento Says:

And we’ve just waived LB Kendell Beckwith

What a fate for this two young players…

    Anything on Kendall Beckwith ?

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Not good…..all this time and not healthy enough for camp?…….
What a shame…..a talented guy….best of luck, Justin.

  12. Buddy Says:

Wow not surprised the Grandpa Bruce had no clue what foot is even hurt. Left/right what’s it matter right? This guy is a total joke. Please make him stay in the coaches box upstairs so I don’t have to see him and his ridiculous hats that he tries to be cool in.

    Buddy is a hater

  14. Anonymous Says:

Poor Beckwith played decent then probably had a career ending Injury man

  15. Mike28277 Says:

The only ability is availability. He hasn’t been available for 2-1/2 years. We have some nice young, talented safety’s in the secondary. I believe Winfield Jr. was drafted so highly because of this. Plus we save almost $1.2M that we need, badly.

  16. mark2001 Says:

Very sad. Sometimes the body breaks down, and it is what it is.He seem to be a good guy. His career hangs by a wire. Best of luck to you Justin… I hope it works out for you this year.

  17. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Evans had a lot of talent. This is a sad day, but it’s time to release him.

  18. SOEbuc Says:

    Depth is everything for everyone.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

    Poor Beckwith. Poor Bucs.

Dang, I missed that. He was a baller, too. I’d hate to be the guy who was driving for him 🙁

  21. J Dubb Says:

Too bad, for all the flack Licht takes for his draft picks and some for very good reason, Evans and Beckwith were looking like potential draft steals. Could not have forecasted these injuries to these two players, and ultimately making his drafting look much poorer as these guys will not be on the roster.

  22. Pryda...sec147 Says:

    Bye ✌🏽

  23. Joe in Michigan Says:

The good news: Mike Edwards will be better this year, IMHO.

  24. Armybucfan Says:

Why in the flying “duck” haha is this man still on the team. He’s a wasted roster spot because even on the pup he’s taking up a spot. I’m not even sure since he’s got in since 2017 if he has even played a fun season with out getting hurt. We need to cut ties with him ASAP

  25. Wesley Says:

Funny how everyone thinks they’re a health expert. How about we just wait and see. I’ll keep being optimistic.

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

Bad news about Evans and Beckwith. Too bad, both had potential. Such is football though.
I hope Winfield is as advertised. This never-ending search for a safety has to stop somewhere.

  27. Mike Says:

It only makes sense he would start the season on PUP. Doesn’t mean he won’t be cleared and be able to play this season. Obviously the Bucs don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but the fact he wasn’t released like Beckwith indicates there is at least a chance he is healthy and will play this season.
