No Respect For Bucs RBs

July 6th, 2020

Has one NFL observer yawning.

Respect is earned and not given. Thus, it is no surprise to Joe in any way shape or form that someone thinks the Bucs running game is a joke.

Now Joe is all too aware fantasy football is not football. And Joe’s concept of fantasy has absolutely nothing to do with a football but a lot to do with a Hooters girl who is part of Chase Elliott’s entourage.

So when the following came across Joe’s Twitter timeline, it sure raised an eyebrow with Joe how NFL observers looking for the best individual talent at a skill position have no use for any Bucs running back.

There is a guy by the name of Kyle Yates who is supposed to be a fantasy expert (How does one become a “fantasy expert?” Is it the number of leagues the guy won? Vegas big-money tournaments the guy cashed out in? What?). Yates types for something called “Fantasy Pros” and listed his top-40 running backs as we inch closer to training camp.

There isn’t one Bucs player in his top-40. Think about that. The Bucs’ best runner — yes, Joe knows there is a faction out there that swears Ronald Jones is the next Franco Harris but Joe just doesn’t realize it yet — isn’t even a top-40 guy in one observer’s eye.

Don’t you have to try to be this grim at running back?

Look, Joe is very much a pass-first kind of guy and is not a big believer in ground-and-pound football, though it is fun to watch at times. Joe is even a skeptic of “balanced” football. So Joe is not arguing that the team needs the next Barry Sanders. Not at all.

But is competency too much to ask? Is there some 11th Commandment Joe is unaware of that states “Bucs Running Backs Shalt Not Break A Tackle?”

That list is…..interesting to say the very least.

Also they have running backs on this list who haven’t played a snap in the NFL.

    How did they earn respect?

  2. Casey Williams Says:

    Never heard of Kyle Yates

  3. Stanglassman Says:

Fantasy pros has Vaughn at #33 and RoJo #34. That’s pretty disrespectful to RoJo. I have Rojo on my list of players with best value draft ADP.

How many times must I repeat….and will continue until Joe prints it….

Rojo with only 15 carries per game would have had 1008 yards……FIFTEEN!!!

    15x16x4.2=1008

    JUST FIFTEEN!!!

The offensive line and scheme and diversity are what make a RB thrive, most can hit a hole and break arm tackles some better than others, not too many Barry Sanders who could create everything by themselves maybe Bell but it is a one or two cut league now. So unless we look to bring in a veteran RB who catches, our backs should have a good year and definitely one will be in the top 20 and possibly higher or both. Our team will be much more diverse and taxing on the defenses we play, so the opportunity for both Rojo and Vaughn to excel is there. I think there will be a lot more games where we will be grinding teams down in the 4th with the running game and as our defense has been in the past they will to exhausted to stop us.

Can’t blame the writers of the the list. Although Rojo improved by leaps and bounds by mid season last year, he was average at best. I am hoping with an improved right side of the line, Rojo will have an incredible year. Also, Vaughn might surprise a lot of people.

  7. Wesley Says:

Still need to add a veteran back.

  8. PuertoRicanBucFan Says:

Whoever doesn’t think RoJO is a damn good RB needs to quit their job because you’re garbage at it. If RojO wouldve been the starter all last season and not Barber RoJO wouldve easily broken 1000 yards rushing . Go back and watch the tape. I have. Watch him the last 4 games of the season. Watch him against SF and the Giants. RoJo is a stud and i cant wait for him to show just how talented he is now that he is the starter. And when he does I hope Dekemper and alll the other garbage analysts that don’t rewatch the tape quits their job.

BTW who tf is Kyle Yates and who cares about his worthless opinion

“Also they have running backs on this list who haven’t played a snap in the NFL.”

See, these are the things that make me shake my head. It renders the list useless IMO. In disclosure, I’ve never been a big list guy to begin with!

  11. Bradinator Says:

Eh. It’s a Fantasy Football blog. The key word is “Fantasy”. Agreed Rojo needs to show he’s really a top shelf RB, but is he a FFL Stud? Who cares? I love FFL, but it ain’t reality. I’d be much happier to see the Bucs win the SB, than see me get bragging rights over my buddies for winning my league.

  12. Youngbucs Says:

But joe jones is in the top in breaking tackles I’m tired of these false narratives.

  13. Cobraboy Says:

Not sure how to establish a running game if you don’t call run plays.

I thought Jones really came on the last 2/3 of the season.

I never, ever understood the Peyton Barber love.
