Gronk To The Rescue

June 9th, 2020

Bails out local high school.

The guy hasn’t even put on a pair of shoulder pads for the Bucs yet and already tight end Rob Gronkowski has impacted the lives of locals.

Recently there was a fire at Tampa’s Blake High School that destroyed an athletic storage shed. The shed happened to include virtually all of the football team’s equipment.

With summer practice weeks away (provided there is a season), all of a sudden the team was scrambling to find equipment.

Never fear; Gronk is here!

The future Hall of Fame tight end the Bucs traded for nine weeks ago, along with the Bucs, cut the high school an undisclosed check to buy new equipment to supply the entire team. Gronk’s check came from the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation.

A season was saved.

Think about it: Hillsborough County puts a lot of players into colleges that would otherwise not be able to afford a college education. It’s not a stretch to believe Gronk’s effort may have saved a young man’s life from whatever was in store for him if he was unable to get an education.

That’s priceless. Props to Gronk and the Bucs for coming through.

(If Joe remembers correctly, former Bucs guard Davin Joseph is also heavily involved with the same school’s football program offering moral and financial support through his foundation.)

Sheesh. Guy makes a simple typo and you want to behead Joe. (Autospell can be a pain in the arse sometimes.)

    Thanks for pointing that out.

Getting caught up in minutia instead of applauding Gronk’s act of kindness for the betterment of the community … and he has not even reported to One Buc!!!

Great to read some GOOD NEWS for a change!!!

Free agents don’t usually embrace the local causes this quickly. Even guys that are on teams for years will still do their youth football camps in their home towns. Nothing wrong with that, but this is pretty cool.

  12. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

Glad that he’s on our team!

  13. Wesley Says:

He always comes off as an a-hole jock meathead.

My son goes to H.W. Blake high school and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for his donation to the school. I’ve been to every Blake home football game over the past three years and it’s a great experience for the kids, the parents, and for that community. When I heard the fire destroyed the equipment I was devastated and I’m sure all the other the kids and parents felt that way. It’s great that Gronk and the Bucs stepped up and it’s great that Gronk has endeared himself to Tampa Bay so quickly.

And decent people still outweigh thew goofballs of the world. Not really news, but lately it’s tougher to see. Thanks to Gronk for helping out. That would have been hard for the school to replace. Team sports may be more important than ever. Best place for kids to learn how to get along and pull together!

  29. Bradinator Says:

PS, I work for a phone company, and it’s not our fault! Android and Apple IT guys make that auto correct crap. If yer phone won’t connect or drops in the middle of a call, that’s on us. Sorry.
