The NFL Sage of sages dropped a great take on Tom Brady’s impact on the Buccaneers.
No, Joe’s not referring to Ira Kaufman.
Joe’s talking about 87-year-old Gil Brandt, the Hall of Fame executive who helped craft the original Cowboys dynasty and is considered the godfather of NFL Scouting.
Brandt chats it up regularly with co-host Alex Marvez on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and Brandt explained that from his experience, adding a big-name, hard-working veteran to a new team can have a tremendous impact on the attitudes, expectations and performance of a roster — even if the veteran free agent isn’t what he used to be.
Brandt said that’s what he expects to happen with the Bucs and Brady; the roster will feel the upgrade and the emotional lift, even if Brady isn’t all that.
“Your team doesn’t realize that you’re bringing in a player that’s a descending player,” Brandt said.
It makes a lot of sense. Players know what they know. And in Tampa, most know incessant losing. Brady represents an upgrade and a new standard. He’s going to feel like a new Rolls Royce (we hope) compared to Jameis Winston, even if Brady is just a high-mileage but gorgeous Mustang Roush.
Brady will have it easy in some ways. If he throws just 10 interceptions this season (a shred more than his annual average), his teammates might start kissing him and erecting statues in his honor.

The week of the Super Bowl that the Bucs destroyed the Raiders, Brandt was on the radio saying there was no way the Bucs could learn the Raiders offense in the week before the game. It was so stupid. It was Gruden’s offense. I take anything this guy says with a grain of salt. Despite his impact on the Cowboys and the game, I think the league passed him by a long time ago.

Don’t care if Brady is trending downward in his career. He is still an upgrade over Jameis. I seriously doubt he will lose 4-5 games on his own.

Even if Brady ends up going all Peyton Manning noodle arm on us, we had the GOAT QB’ing the Bucs. THE GOAT! I’m on Cloud 9 nuthugging Brady and loving every moment of it. When’s the last time the Bucs were the toast of the town? When did the Bucs attract the cream of the crop free agents? Yup, after winning the Super Bowl. I loved every minute of the SB and I’m loving every minute of Brady – Gronk in the hizzy.

Think about this for a minute Brady supposedly had a bad season last year. And if that’s the case his bad season is still better than any season Winston has every had. Josh freeman had a better season than Winston ever had in his career. Guys.. conversations like this will never help the cause… When you insist on feeling your comments (thoughts) with white people/black people, you reveal that you yourself keep the division between the 2 in your head…
Only when you think deeper, become one of a deeper existence and stop seeing people as color and start seeing them as people, only then will you ever become part of the solution and STOP being a part of the problem…

Tye we have been asking to look at us as a person for a long time . Since slavery we have been asking to look at us as a human . And I know even back then there were white people helping my people run from slavery and they were killed for it . So it’s never everybody. Today their are white people that was protesting yesterday . But it’s still a big problem . Now the uncle Tom is real with some of my people . Youngbucs is not a black man . But it hurts when things like this happen plus he’s from my city and my older brothers played up against him in high school . So yes it hurts seeing things like this happen .

Slavery, in general, has been over for many years and unless you are very very old, you yourself was never a slave… So that means you are free…. Nobody owes you or anyone else anything for the atrocities of the past… In fact, study history for yourself and not what people want you to believe… Poor white people were slaves also…. So we’re people from other countries brought here… It is only the ‘black race’, for whatever reason, has taken it on as their identity…
I am not putting it on you but it’s just the truth… The white people that say ‘if it was a black cop that choked and killed a white man’, it would have been celebrated… Now you and I both know people that would have…. That is not ok! 1 death is to many regardless of color or who caused it….
If you are angered by the death of a man, then join the rest of us… If it is only because of the color of the people involved, you are as much racist as the people you are pointing your finger at!

tye when comes to slavery we all know that there was white people helping us out and some of them was killed for it . I stated that in my post so what are talking about ?? And yet still till this day my people are still being killed by cops . And guess what you don’t have the same worries about your kids if you are white like I do with some of these cops . I grew up in a time where this was common and I have experience it in my family . Where my brother was handcuffed and was beaten by HPD officers while my niece and nephew watch when they were 5 and 3 years old . But it wasn’t no cameras back then and the cops got away with it .

Oneil – you are saying white people helped slaves escape.. I am letting you know there were white people that were slaves.. not all slaves were black… There were even black people who owned slaves… Slaves were made up of many different races from many different countries…
There are many different races other than the 2 you keep trying to put people into… Yes! I am concerned for my family, your family and anyone else when it comes to cops that are authority driven and use excessive force as they so chose… a cocky cop is a determent to every person around him… They just want to make themselves feel powerful no matter what it might do to the other person.. corrupt cops come in all colors and they hate and abuse people of all colors… Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, etc.. get harassed and tormented often all over this country… Even some white people do as well I’m sure…
