“That’s Really Big”
May 11th, 2020Warm sunshine on old bones is an elixir that just might turn the Bucs into a playoff team.
That’s the word from former Dolphins and Jets shot-caller Mike Tannebaum.
The old bones belong to park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady. There is a reason so many folks retire to Florida. And it seems Brady, who will be 43 soon, needs that warm climate to reinvigorate himself, so Tannebaum believes.
The recently released 2020 schedule almost feels like NFL strongman Roger Goodell actually wants the Bucs in the playoffs (largely thanks to Brady). And the closest thing the Bucs have to a cold weather game will be a Thursday night in Chicago on Oct. 8.
(Those who discount cold weather games in October have never been in Chicago in October, where the weather can get awfully dicey. To potentially make matters worse, Soldier Field is right on that friggin’ lake.)
So Tannebaum, now a BSPN talking head, thinks the Bucs’ unlikely to play in crummy weather is perfect for Brady and his creaky old body.
“Oh, that’s really big,” Tannebaum said. “[Brady] talked about that.”
Tannenbaum claims the Florida climate played a large factor in Brady signing with the Bucs, and he suggested non-cold-weather games will help Tampa Bay in more ways than one. Tannebaum believes the Bucs will be slow starters so they’ll need all the help they can get late in the season to make a playoff run.
“It’s going to take them a while to get going,” Tannenbaum said.
The Bucs will struggle early because of the lack of preparation Brady will have with his new team, Tannebaum believes — and he is hardly alone in this tonight. The Sickness has wiped out OTAs, minicamp, and (hopefully) maybe even preseason games.
See and hear Tannebaum’s full take in the BSPN video below.
My take on @tombrady being able to play in warm weather and how meaningful that could be down the stretch pic.twitter.com/OqvConFUJI

i agree that the offense may “struggle” early and score around 21-24points per game….but our defense will keep team under 20 for the same reason….teams still have to get that timing down in real game action….
right around week 6 or 7, offense will take off and defense will continue to stiffen…
GO BUCS!!!!

I disagree with a slow start. We will get 5-8 weeks of real practice time, put in extra work during preseason and regular season on offense.
Our defense was improving as the year progressed last year, we brought nearly everyone back on D, I expect them to pick up where they left off, including more improvement.
Go Bucs!
In BA I Trust!

The “real” fans are mostly worried about all the night games!!!!!!!!! With the elderly coach, will ole stale biscuit be able to stay awake??????? The elderly sleep so easy!!!!!!! Something to keep an eye on!!!!!!!! Of course, it could be a blessing!!!!!!! Ole stale biscuit seemed to make mistakes and just gets in the way, judging from last year!!!!!!! So maybe, it could help the bucs if bruce arrogance is napping more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s time to herd the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with him, the Saints game will be a wake up game for the Bucs, the first 5 games will be very close and I see Bucs going 4-1 or 3-2 after that the team chemistry would’ve developed

the tom brady nickname (which i’m sure is bound to grow) is already cringe-inducing. bummer that “Americas QB” was thrown away on the saints’ current 3rd string QB, would be a great one to pull out of the bag for the new guy.

El Realtardo, your “real fans” distinction is disingenuous and ludicrous at best. Trust me, if any “supposed” Bucs fan is reading these articles, much less the comments (you know, to see their particular brand of fandom called out by…other fans), they are real fans by any definition. This includes old fans, new fans, etc. It’s really not that hard a concept to grasp. You know what else isn’t a hard concept to grasp? Your weird obsession with sheep (I think we can all do the math here), your equally weird obsession with our coaches age (actually a year younger than some coach whose names rhymes with “Sellichick”), your pathologic obsession with exclamation points, ironically rendering them useless, your love of Mike Smith (which renders any supposed expertise you fancy yourself having completely null and void) and your tired attempt at picking a closing byline that you believe to be so clever you stick with it for the season but is rendered meaningless by the previous lame brained attributes. There’s a diagnosis for “fans” like you and it actually comes with a cute little number: DSM-5 295.90.

Offense will be kept simple until everyone is on the same page….. Defense will keep us in a lot of close games …. We win because of smart QB decision s and everyone believes…..

Why do they have him superimposed in the old uniform?

Tampabayb, perhaps! So many ways you could go with that unfortunately… So many potential neuroses.

More hogwash Joe, northern teams come down here all of the time and beat our butts is scorching hot weather. I would argue it is much much harder to get acclimated to the heat than it is the cold as you can layer up for one but not the other. Players over heat regularly, when was the last player that had to take a play off for under heating? None, because it’s not a thing.
All of this is irrelevant because our coldest game will likely be in the 50s. I go out in a bathing suit in the 50s, it’s not bad. So I won’t be overly concerned about a bunch of tough grown men playing in moderately warm temperatures.

Whats so very disappointing is that “Joe” labels Brady as a “park violator and a home invader” yet labels Winston BASICALLY “as then next candidate to be POPE”… Yet Brady is an outstanding person (seemingly) and Winston paid off and uber driver in order not to be arrested for a sex offense…. can anyone explain this logic to me? thanks

What has Mike Tannebum ever won? How do these GM’s keep getting jobs after failing at being GM’s to only then get a gig on TV claiming to be an expert. Who would ever listen to this guys opinion.

That Brady nickname is really working. I’m not sure Jameis could have survived those two slip ups. You guys love you some aggrievement.

We keep talking about Winston, he sucks and let’s leave it at that.
May 11th, 2020 at 6:03 pm
Generally, most successful GMs outside of Bill Polian are employed. Thus, their owners would greatly frown upon going on national TV and offering up insight.
So for analysis from a front office perspective, you have to go with what is available.
And yes, Joe would (and does) listen. Joe has never worked in an NFL front office.
Tannebaum did have a couple of playoff tams with the Jets.

The prime time games, the schedule, the look the other way attitude at tampering, playbook issues, un-retirements – yeah, the NFL doesn’t play favorites at all….we just happen to be in the very, very, very rare position of being the benefactor 🙂

I dont buy into any of this weather crap…in fact working in this florida heat most of.my.life I would argue that teams.coming here from.colder climates probably have more energy than we do because they dont play in it all the time

BucEmUp:
Will never forget how Raheem bragged how the Cowboys (home opener in 2009) were going to wilt here because his team was going to practice every day in the hottest part of the day (guess Rah forgot it gets blazing hot in Texas as well).
Cowboys wiped them off the field that day.

@Joe – editorial note, I believe it’s TanneNbaum. Not trolling, just noting.

Tom Brady in THAT uniform was the one thing I never wanted to see.
