Leaning On Gronk

May 10th, 2020

Leader and part-time coach.

Yeah, there are people who talk about team leaders like they are some sort of mystic higher being, almost like something you would hear Robert Plant screech about in the odd, gothic lyrics of a Led Zeppelin song.

(If you are not cranking the May-long “Led Zeppelin Radio” channel on SiriusXM, Joe doesn’t know what to say.)

Joe just wants production from players and you can leave the paranormal football gibberish to the bad sports radio hosts looking to fill air time. But for those who cling to such metaphysical hype, this story could be for you.

Last week on “NFL Now,” seen and heard weekday afternoons on NFL Network, analyst Steve Wyche was talking about a savvy move the Bucs made in acquiring tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Why is that?

With the weird offseason that has wiped out OTAs, minicamps and possibly a regular training camp thanks to The Sickness, Gronk, Wyche explains, will be a critical cog. In fact, Gronk may be more important off the field for the Bucs offense than on the field.

Gronk, Wyche believes, will become sort of a part-time coach to help the offense speed up the learning process of how to play with park-violating, home-invading Tom Brady.

“This is going to happen with any team with a quarterback changing teams or getting a new head coach implementing a new system.,” Wyche said a team trying to gel with such a whacky offseason where players and coaches cannot even get to a team’s headquarters. “It is going to be hard to generate some type of chemistry.

“Gronkowski is not just a familar face [to Brady]. But Gronk can go to the Mike Evans and Chris Godwins and the offensive linemen: ‘Here is what Tom likes. Here is what you can look for in this situation. Here is the checks. Here is the cadance that might trigger something.’

“The addition of Gronkowski was a deft move not just on the field but helping other people getting familiar with Brady. It’s going to be huge.”

Joe never thought about that but it makes a whole lot of sense. Gronk will be like an assistant coach. Hell, Gronk might even work with coaches (whenever the Bucs do get together) to help them learn Brady’s ways.

Gronk: Hall of Fame tight end. Wrestling champion. Assistant NFL coach. Leader. Party animal.

Who woulda thunk?

Hey Gronk, ya missed the hole shot

People posting on this site have said that Gronkowski will be valuable as a coach at least 10 times. I have pointed out at least twice that Manning brought Brandon Stokley to Denver his first year after a March 18th article by Lindsay Jones article on the Athletic. Manning has been quoted as saying that Stokley acted like a teacher/coach for him that 1st year. And that he took so much pressure off him to teach others.

The Athletics, Greg Auman, also wrote an article about why Brady should get a player on March 19th that include players like gronk, dorsett, lewis, or Hogan to help in the room.

I expect/hope that this will make a difference for the team in early success.

I’m sure it will be a huge benefit to the entire offense including the coaches…Brady’s comfort level with the change of teams will be improved greatly.

Let us all hope that Gronk can coach!!!!!!!! Can he coach running backs??? Can he coach Tight ends????? Can he coach out the sloppy most penalized team from 2019 that clearly regressed from 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now with Gronk supposedly here to coach, on by far the largest coaching staff in the league, making his 10 million salary by far the highest paid coaching staff!!!!!!!!!! Can Gronk fix golf carts?????? Did ole stale biscuit just needed a drinking buddy in Tampa????????

Let’s hope that some of this is true, because spending 10 million on this already mismanaged cap of the bucs, just to watch Gronk limp around on the field for a couple of games would not be money well spent!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s time to need the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. SufferingSince76 Says:

Gronkowski is a great addition to this team regardless of what off the field abilities he also has. You can’t make me believe other teams would not have jumped at the chance to add him to their teams had they been able. Half a Gronk is still pretty good.

  6. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

^^^El Realisto Troll, your schtick is so old, it has become pathetic. When the Bucs make the playoffs, will you confine yourself to the “pen” and never post here again?

  7. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Senor Harry in Costa Rica

The sheep said the exact same thing to me and the “real” fans last year!!!!!!!! Was I a troll then????? Was I a troll during the 7-9 season when the sheep promised at least a 10 win season and playoffs because of the so-called “great” upgrade of coaching!!!!!!!!

But the “real” fans do not like the division of all buc fans, real, so-called and sheep!!!!!!!!! That is why I am proposing a new annual event once the pandemic has passed!!!!!!!! It will be hosted by the Great Joe’s of JoeBucsFan!!!!!!!!!!! The First inaugural “Running Of The Sheep”!!!!!!!!!! It will be an event that closes down street!!!!! Where floods of the sheep come herding down the street and the “real” fans wearing Bucs Red gear will run with all the sheep to their peril!!!!!!!!! Just imagine Ira shooting the starters gun in his 70’s track gear!!!!!!!!!!! It will be a huge event that will raise huge charities contributions!!!!!!!!!

It’s time to herd the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back when I was telling everyone the truth!!!! But now it is plan for all to see in Buc land the Coach Smitty is the real deal!!! Some might even say he is the “MVP” of the season!!!! But now we need to keep it quiet, in hopes that he stays the offseason and just falls in love with the Tampa Area!!!! Now is not the time to promote common knowledge!!!!!
    ***************************************************************
Man, what lies were told by ole El Buco Realisto!!!!!!!!!!

Now even the sheep know that El Buco Realisto KNOWS NOTHING!!!!!!

time to crawl back in the cage with ndog!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  9. TheBradyBunch Says:

At least we can see the names of posters so that I can avoid reading their nonsense. When I see Realist and Kobe up there I simply skip them and move onto the next post. I wonder though did the other troll T Max leave or change his name once the Bucs brought in Brady. Feel kind of bad for the trolls. Can’t imagine how sad it must be while this is going on and they are stuck in their mom’s basement while the Bucs are one of the darlings of the NFL now. They are like little kids that act out simply to get attention.

  10. RustyRhinos Says:

Joe. I know what I say, “Glad I have Spotify I can listen to every Led Zeppelin album ever made. As many months as I want to listen, not just in May.

  11. Smashsquatch Says:

Led Zeppelin Radio has been cranked well past the safe listening volume on my ear buds all month! “You need cooling…..

  12. SteveK Says:

Gronk is a stud. Pumped for the season. Go Bucs. Happy Mother’s Day!

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

“Who woulda thunk” Gronk could be an on-field coach?! I can only assume that this was rhetorical!
This was what made the trade that much more valuable. Now, it’s not just Tom teaching, it’s Gronk too!

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

Eric- Excellent “Realist re-post”! It was his unwavering support of ‘Ol Smitty that rendered his “sheep” diatribe pointless.

  15. Bucsfan951 Says:

I think people need to be hit with another narcissistic realist repost!

  16. Kobe Faker Says:

“This is going to end badly

    really bad

    This is Sweezey part 2

does he know what sport he is going to play? Does he care?

This buffoon has stolen 10 million dollars and the sheep is giggling?

Free $10 milly he never thought he would get.

Kobe cant even find $5 on the ground”

    Kobe Faker

  17. Pete Says:

I just hope that this coaching staff does a better job recognizing and utilizing the chemistry and the skills of Brady-Gronk that they did Winston – Brate!

  18. Pete Says:

    Than they did

  19. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Eric
What, I thought I was supposed to just be a troll??????? That repost does not sound trollish at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is the real lie!!!!!!!!! For the first year DC’s

Coach Smitty 2016 pts avg 23.1 and dragged the bucs to 9 wins and a winning season, with mostly incompetent lovie’s players!!!!!!!!!
    Or
Toilet bowls 2019 pts avg 28.6 and a losing season, supposively turned the corner against a bunch of backup qb’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Licht bulb did nothing but get garbage players, yet still Coach Smitty 2017 pts avg of 23.9!!!!!!!!!!!

When is toilet bowls going to beat that??????

    But keep believing the lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. TBone47 Says:

Joe you sure are jumping on Brady for some reason. Never saw you write uber grabbing , coed molesting crab leg stealing QB. Instead you brush that off and now go after the goat. Keep it real.

  21. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Exactly Pete! A coach who has no real use of a tight end other than blocking showed that last year even though they caught like 16 tds between the 2 of them in 2018 and now is going to be forced to play Gronk as a receiver. Guarantee OJ is still gonna stay in and block.

  22. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

El bucco clowno still whining about Mike Smith who was a worse DC than Lovie yet wants to bamboozle and hoodwink everyone into believing he wasn’t because he keeps putting 200 exclamation points in each of his posts. Truly one who is in love with his own words and sound of his own voice.
