Enjoy But Honor Memorial Day
May 25th, 2020“Happy Memorial Day” is probably something that shouldn’t be said.
Why? It’s not meant to be a happy day.
Joe adores summer. Women wear less and it’s not cold. It’s all good.
It also helps that the summer is traditionally bookmarked by three-day weekends, with America’s birthday right smack dab in the middle.
If you are like Joe, at some point today you will grill raw meat and crack open many Big Storm Brewery beers. If you are fortunate, then you are watching glorious bikinis from a boat in the Gulf or at the beach. If so, Joe salutes you.
But please take a moment today to remember the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to guzzle beer, ingest mass quantities of meat and throw (digital) rocks at each other when discussing our beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A few small U.S. flags on your property or apartment deck is a great touch, too.
Remember that heroes didn’t come home.

I gotta say being active duty Air Force… I believe the majority of the men and women who have died protecting our great nation would want use to celebrate their sacrifice and make this the happiest of days as we remember and Memorialize those people by taking advantage of what they died for, our freedoms! HUA! I love my bucs almost as much as I love America!

Well said Joe.
My Dad was a marine in Vietnam. I wont go into it but he passed not long after coming back, I was a year old.

I hope all can appreciate the sacrifices made for us…..I sometimes wonder if those who have absolutely no skin in the game can understand what it means to serve. I hope so.

All gave some
Some gave all
Had they not done so, this world would be very different.
I am both humbled and honored by their sacrifice.

Well said, “Never Forget and Always Remember” what many before us did to make sure that we have the freedoms we now enjoy as a lot of good men and women sacrificed a helluva lot to make sure we still have it.

Sorry for your loss. Sorry for your father’s loss. Make it back and look forward to a life with your son and…at least he did his part. I’ll definitely tip a brew and take a toke in memory of him today.
I realize this is a Memorial to those who didn’t make it back. They paid the ultimate price and I salute them.
But I also salute everybody who went or served anywhere.
I remember standing at the Vietnam Memorial in DC looking at that wall.
I shared with a fellow Viet Vet that I always felt guilty…doubly so actually. I was in the 101st Airborne but never airborne and station in the rear while they were up front at Hue in the worst city fighting of the war. I’ve always felt like a faker.
He said to me…”Hey you gave them a chance…you were there…it’s not your fault you got lucky.
To anybody who served ANYWHERE. Thanks…you gave us a chance.

Thanks for serving St.Pete and dont ever feel like a faker, you were there and ready for duty. Thats just as honorable.
Your maturity and wisdom is a blessing here. Thank you.

One of the things I always hate to see is guys online putting down “REMFs.” First, without the rear echelon, the infantry couldn’t even do what they do. Without the rear echelon, a lot of them wouldn’t have made it home.
Second, half of those loudmouths who say spit like that, enlisted with an open contract and didn’t even request infantry themselves. It was a crapshoot that they didn’t wind up peeling potatoes.
All of us put our name on the line, Brother, and none of us really knew for sure what our fate would be. It’s the willingness that counts, by my way of thinking.
That wall is a powerful experience. I always wished that I could afford to fly my dad to Washington so that he could be there.

Thank you for doing this every year, Joe. I’ll repeat what I’ve said the last couple of years:
General Smedley Butler said that “all wars are banksters’ wars.” His contention was that we have often been lied to about why we have to fight and die, and the necessity of it all. Therefore, without the banksters, much of this suffering and sacrifice would never take place.
Something I hope all Americans can come to realize is that the banksters he speaks of were never supposed to exist in this country. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is the most unconstitutional and most destructive thing ever done to us by sell-out lawmakers. Years after signing it into law, Woodrow Wilson even stated: “I am a most unhappy man–unwittingly I have ruined my country.”
It was the banksters who shot Presidents Lincoln, Kennedy, and Reagan–some of our best, all of whom publicly spoke against them. Never forget.
