Bucs Season-Win Totals

May 9th, 2020

Bucs and the season-win total.

Nothing like beginning your spring Saturday morning with a little bit of gambling chatter along with your Bucs news.

Joe knows some readers live in states other than Florida, forward-thinking states where you don’t need to walk into a casino to lay cash down on a bet. You can use a virtual casino.

In some circles, this is also known as your phone.

Florida, unfortunately, is not yet so enlightened.

TeamRankings.com decided to study certain sportsbooks to see what the season-win totals are for the Bucs. The wiseguys are of the mind the Bucs will have their best season since 2016, when they missed the playoffs in a tiebreaker.

(This winter, the playoff field will expand to place an additional team in each conference.)

The average season-win total for the Bucs from four sportsbooks is 9.63.

Here’s how it breaks down:

DraftKings: 10.0.
FanDuel: 9.5.
Westgate SuperBook: 9.5.
William Hill: 9.5.

Joe is guessing the trade for Rob Gronkowski pushed win totals higher. Yes, of course, it is a no-brainer that park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is a major factor as well.

It’s not like the Bucs have a cake schedule. To Joe, laying cash that the Bucs will win more than 10 games is a pretty telling vote of confidence in Bucco Bruce Arians, Brady and the Bucs finally halting the Chucky Curse.

If the Bucs are going to win 10 games, it might help to have a winning record at home for a change.

Wont have a qb throwing away games. That’s a great start. I’ll be surprised if they win less than 10. Dont underestimate Brady’s intelligence. He knows the punter is there for a reason. Defense too etc etc etc

  2. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @joe

And thank goodness Florida is NOT so enlightened!!!!!!!! The sheep would have been broke and homeless years ago!!!!!!!!! They would have blown their families money years ago because they wrongly thought that talk show dominik created a super talented team and that the coaches were holding them back!!!!!!!!!! It stinks that we have to punish others for the stupidity of the sheep, but we cannot destroy the small economy florida has!!!!!!!!! We need the sheep wasting their little bit of money on other things and not all of it to casinos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, we have to herd the sheep to protect them from themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Pablo Says:

PBloe. Thanks we will lose the season opener, like our Super Bowl year but then we will proceed to go 12-4

  4. The Coroner Says:

    11-5 🤔

  5. Lord Says:

Lol everyone here thinks Dominik sucked.

Now I know this guy is just super lost with himself right now. I kind of feel bad. It’s really really weird.

    Go Bucs…

  6. BUC CHEEKS Says:

As I scrolled down (NOT FAST ENOUGH MIND YOU) past El Buco Nutjob!!!!! And his sheep! 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 damn man! You even wake up cranky! Go count some damn sheep and go bahaaaahhhaaaack to sleep you creep!

  7. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

Not really sure why everybody is certain we lose to NO. Why? This is no rookie QB that just came into the league on short prep.

This is a six time super bowl winning QB that can read defenses with the best of them. Three months until opening day. Plenty of time to get the ship ready for sail. No worries about NO. Beat em before. Beat em again.

  8. Ocala Says:

    14-2

As usual….no prediction, no original thought…..just sheep-in-mouth diarrhea..

And for those who say…..don’t engage the trolls….>BS…..this a-hole has been trolling for many years……he has his copy and paste on the ready daily…..

    So….TBBF will attack on a regular basis…..because I am the good shepherd….in wolf’s clothing….

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We should all feel a bit sorry for Elsuckopessimisto……because his Father is also his Uncle…….that can create many disorders.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The safe guess on the win total for me would be 9……I’m hopeful that would still get us into the playoffs…..that total could have been easily reached last year….pr

Elsuckopessimisto needs to get on record with his win projection…..I’d say by the way he posts…..it would be 3 wins…..that’s the non-sheep total.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Elsuckopessimisto

Come out from behind that sheep when your finished…..

  14. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

Pay attention, I gave my prediction when the schedule was released!!!!!!!! Not surprised that you and the sheep are way behind as always!!!!!!!!!!!

The hardest part of being a “real” bucs fan, is waiting for the sheep to catch back up!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. richbucsfan Says:

    8-8 or 9-7

  16. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Brady stays healthy… No way we win less then 10! Shoot, my grandma could quarterback this team to 9-7

  17. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete Says:

Most Sure Bet of the new football season: the Over on the Bucs win total…

My heart & mind say we might go 19-0.

But my official prediction for the regular season is 14-2.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Elsuckopessimisto

    So….6 wins….that’s generous for you…..

And…..since you have stated I was fence sitting by wanting to retain JW at a reasonable price…..vs……the alternatives……Higher priced FA……Trade or draft for a questionable talent…..

What was your suggestion…….I must have missed it.

  19. Steven007 Says:

Tampa, his suggestion is and has always been retaining Mike Smith. Does anything more need to be said?

  20. TheBradyBunch Says:

LOL at Rich! The Bucs were 9-7 last year! Sometimes you aren’t what your record say you were. A soccer player single handedly lost two games. A chip shot at the end of regulation in one and missed all 3 attempts in the Falcons game. I won’t even include the 50 yarder he missed at the end of the Seattle game and the refs stealing the TN game from us. So we bring in the GOAT, bring in the best TE of all time, draft a beast of a right tackle and a first round talent safety, and bring back Barrett, JPP, and Suh and we will win two less games than last year. Does that make sense to you?

  21. 813bucboi Says:

    12&4…..

    #2 seed….

    SB CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS

  22. Afo Says:

    10-6 for me

  23. Lord Says:

I’m just gonna say if Brady can ward Father Time both physically and mentally we will be a legit threat

If not then anything can happen.

  24. bucnjim Says:

You know the world has turned upside down when Winston is called America’s QB and Brady is the Home invader. Tom Brady’s Buccaneers 11-5

Winston? 0-0 watching how great QB’s actually work

  25. PTWalk Says:

13 and 3, number 1 seed and a Superbowl appearance. But we win the following season. 15 and 1 Superbowl champs then Brady signs for 1more season.

  26. Defense Rules Says:

More and more I’m thinking that predicting win totals this year … for ANY team … is a gigantic waste of time. We still have ZERO idea what June holds in terms of ‘The Sickness’, much less September onward.

It would seem that certain teams (like the Ravens, Chiefs, Seahawks?) would have a distinct advantage over the Bucs. They were solid on offense AND defense in 2019 and returned a lot of veterans. This time off with no OTAs, etc will hurt them, but I’d think that they could bounce back easier than teams like the Bucs (and many others) with so many really young players (who need the reps even more than the vets).

My HOPE is that BA, TB, BL & Brady have enough time to get this team functioning effectively enough to keep us ‘in the hunt’ for the first half season. Little doubt in my mind that we’ll improve considerably as the season wears on, but it’s that first half-season (Saints, Broncos & Packers especially) that could put us disastrously behind the 8-ball early-on.

  27. Tye Says:

For the last 10+ years I have never been able to foresee above 8 wins… Most season was 6 and rarely 7..
This is the 1st time in over a decade it isn’t hard to foresee a winning season…
    11-5 isn’t a stretch…

  28. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

11-5 seems like a reasonable record based on the roster. I just hope we shore up that backup QB position. I’m definitely not comfortable with Gabbert if Brady goes down.

  29. Ocala Says:

    Alvin Scissors Harper:
I do agree with you regarding the backup QB position. Bucs are a 14-2 team if Brady is Healthy. If Gabbert is the QB the Bucs are a 6-10 team.

  30. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Steven007

My whole point at the time, was the roster was the “real” problem!!!!!!! And if a bad gm was going to get him slappy free-agents and was told to keep She-mc93 happy with the scheme she wants, then to fire Coach Smitty and the GM!!!!!!!

But my point of the roster being the “real” problem has proved out, as there are only two starters left from just a short two seasons ago from opening day, and only one defensive starter from three years ago!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry if it seems I am talking down to all of you, but I am putting an explanation on an elementary level that the sheep should have known years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s time to herd the sheep, and put them back in the pen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. JimmyJack Says:

No guy. That is just a closed minded opinion. Joe screamed on here for years how the coaching didn’t develope a single DB. That’s where fans look to coaching and say these guys suck.

Bowles comes in and all the sudden we see secondary players finally show some promise and start shutting down big time receivers.

Same with the OL. In three years of work Dirk and his staff never once develope a Guard or a Tackle or a Center. Bruce come in and in one year has more success then Dirk had in three. And he didn’t even get a draft pick.

You can also look at free agents. When did the last staff have 1/10th of the success we got from Shaq Barrett last year? You can pretend that Dirk’s first order of business wasn’t to publicly lobby to pay Doug Martin big time money but you would be wrong. You can pretend Brent Grimes wasn’t a player the coaches wanted but again would be wrong…….The dude led one of the worst secondaries in NFL history hahaha.

Bruce went out and got Suh……The result? Best run defense in football. That’s called results. Point to the roster if you want, that’s fair. But coaching has something to do with it, that’s real.

  33. Steven007 Says:

El B, the former GM of the colts famously said of Mel kiper that he knew as much about football as his postman. And while I think he was a being a bit hyperbolic, I understood what he was trying to say. Same applies here. With you, and frankly with all of us. We have opinions but that’s as far as it goes.

  34. stpetebucsfan Says:

They pay the opponents too. It’s not going to be easy.

My biggest fear honestly is our kicking game. We know of Gay’s struggles last year and our punting was also sub par.

The league is too balanced to give away any games on missed FG’s. And our defense has improved dramatically time for our punter to start pinning teams deep to let our D feast.

  35. crazyBucs_CL Says:

these are “opinions” to make you put the money on them….. hard to predict anything…. they see the hurricane on top of our heads, and still can’t find the path… so my guesstimate is:
    12 – wins
    4- undetermined (maybe W maybe L)
..very happy if become reality… 🙂

I’m beginning to think this Realist character has a sheep fetish.

    Baaaaaaa!

    Call 1-800-Realist for prerecorded message.

  37. Buczilla Says:

Even with our lousy running back situation, I think that 10 wins is a given and that’s what I predict as of today.

  38. Joe Says:

I’m beginning to think this Realist character has a sheep fetish.

  39. DerrickBrooksGOATLB Says:

Objectively looking at the schedule week by week, thoughts below. Obviously injuries, other factors, etc can modify this but knowing what we know now:

    – Week 1 @ NO: Loss. It’ll be close, but Saints offense has benefit of years together and Bucs will be playing first game with new cast. Also Wirfs and Vaughn’s first NFL game. Bucs lose a nail biter and everyone freaks out about Brady being too old, washed up, lol (0-1)

    – Week 2 vs CAR: Win. Panthers rebuilding and it’s Brady’s first home game as a Buc. This one could get ugly. (1-1)

    – Week 3 @ DEN: Win. Bucs have way more firepower than DEN and Bowles blitz happy scheme should frustrate Lock. (2-1)

    – Week 4 vs LA: Win. If this were in LA, could see Chargers pulling it out. Not flying across three time zones though for an early game for them. (3-1)

    – Week 5 @ CHI: Win. Bears simply overmatched. (4-1)

    – Week 6 vs GB: Loss. Another close one and this could go either way. (4-2)

    – Week 7 @ LV: Win. See Bears game. Bucs overmatched Raiders. Coming off a loss to GB, can see a rebound. (5-2)

    – Week 8 @ NYG: Win. If this weren’t MNF, I could see a trap game. This is where Brady is really valuable. Can see the offense starting to really click. (6-2)

    – Week 9 vs NO: Win. We always play NO tough at home and this is both a revenge game and a chance to regain the division lead. Crowd will be amped here. (7-2)

    – Week 10 @ CAR: Loss. Classic letdown spot. Sandwiched between a huge game vs NO and back to back games against good teams in LAR and KC. This game will matter much more to CAR than Bucs. (7-3)

    – Week 11 vs LAR: Win. Classic rebound game. Can’t see our QB letting it happen twice in a row. Bowles blitzes confuses Goff like crazy last year. (8-3)

    – Week 12 vs KC: Loss. Our pass defense can’t keep up. KC is still the class of the NFL. This one could be a big time shootout. (8-4)

    – Week 14 vs MIN: Win. Two weeks to prepare for third straight home game and coming off a loss. I’ll take our guys here. (9-4)

    – Week 15 @ ATL: Win. I think the Falcons are in for a rough season this year and Quinn won’t make it to the end. They are a team on the edge of a rebuild. Close early, but we pull away. (10-4)

    – Week 16 @ DET: Win. Lions likely will be eliminated from the playoffs by this time and nothing to play for. Brady and Gronk very familiar with Patricia’s schemes. This also could be to clinch NFC South. (11-4)

    – WeeK 17 vs ATL: Loss. Only because I predict this game will be meaningless and Bucs playoff position will be locked up so lots of backups. If this game does have playoff implications, then change to a win. (11-5)
