Brady Will Play Well, But…

May 28th, 2020

Not on bandwagon.

In the minds of one national sports talking head, the Bucs missed the playoffs last year because of their quarterback. And the same fellow believes the Bucs again will miss the playoffs in 2020, because of their quarterback.

Nick Wright of FS1 is a big fan of park-violating, home-invading quarterback Tom Brady. Wright also believes NFL strongman Roger Goodell did the Bucs a solid by giving them a cake schedule with five prime time games. In fact, Wright seems to think the schedule was all laid out for the Bucs to skate to the playoffs.

But Wright has a problem with pinning hopes on a quarterback who will be seven years away from AARP eligibility and less than two decades from being clear to file for Social Security when the NFL season begins.

Speaking on “First Things First,” seen weekday mornings on FS1, Wright predicts Brady will have the best year a 43-year old quarterback will ever have, but he adds that’s a low bar. And it won’t be enough to drag the Bucs into the postseason.

“I think we saw the trajectory that Tom Brady was on,” Wright said of how 2019 ended for Brady. “It will be the greatest season a 43-year old quarterback has ever had, because we’ve never had a 43-year old quarterback play a full season.”

You can see Wright’s prediction for the Bucs in the FS1 video below. In short, Wright believes the Saints will win the NFC South and will be the only team in the division with a winning record.

Joe you give this fool too much attention. He makes Stephen A Smith sound like Stephen Hawking.

  2. Matt Says:

The exponential synergy that Brady’s and Gronk’s wills, energies and determination bring cannot be quantified.

We had an absolutely brutal schedule of away games last year that determined our fate early on. We showed great strides defensively once JPP returned and that secondary matured and developed. These are quantifiable variables. The Tom Brady effect is immeasurable. The competition in practice every day in practice and every film session, the accountability for every assignment on offense and defense. If a defensive player blows a coverage on a mental mistake expect TB12 to chew his tail off just the same. This is the difference between winning and losing in the NFL. Mental toughness! Everyone is so fast and and quick and big and strong now that it really opens up these offenses to attack any and every part of the field in such a short period of time. Team wide accountability to do your absolute best on every play, if it’s a backside DE/OLB pursuit running down a running back even after a 13 yard run on a 3rd and 15 or a WR diving and selling out his body on a cut block to spring a big run for a 1st when backed up in your own end zone, these are generally the types of plays that make a huge difference in swinging momentum or field position that have major outcomes on games. It’s an elevated level of effort and mental toughness that we haven’t had in over a decade.

We may not see the big bump in wins this year because of this unprecedented offseason because of this covid19 one world government hoax, but I will just be paying close attention to the aforementioned plays and how we just see more and more of them as the season grows old. This will be franchise changing for us without a doubt. If Gronk returns to old form our offense will be impossible to stop. I expect to also see some more innovative ways to get OJ Howard the ball on TE screens the way Belichek used Hernandez.

RJIII will be a fringe Pro Bowler, Gronk and Wirfs are massive massive upgrades in the running game and TB12 will make the right calls at the line against favorable fronts. RJIII looked a bit clumsy at times with his added muscle but I expect nasty nasty highlight runs this year. Gonna be fun to watch!!!! Finally my Bucs and Gators are relevant again. It’s a tough year when it’s October and both your teams on Saturday and Sunday are out of it.

Assholes and opinions, everyone has them.

  4. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m sorry but, anyone that looks like Tom Green I just can’t take seriously.
And way to go out on a limb, “he’s old”. Thank you for that take.

Looks like the “tin-foil hat crew” is up early this morning!

  5. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

I got into the wrong business. I could be paid well for BS opinions and predictions.

This dude literally knows as much as the sh!t I just took while typing this.

  7. Nosetackle Says:

Then explain last years schedule d$$k head.

  8. SC Bucs Fan Says:

I think Joe goes looking for naysayers to post here.

  9. macout247 Says:

    his show is the worst

  10. Chris Says:

Joe- why are you giving a Boston sports hater this much attention? He’s always been bias against Brady. He also has no clue what he’s talking about in terms of football analysis perspective.

Look at the weapons Brady had and see what he still put up.

Get off of the jameis bandwagon. He wasn’t taking us anywhere.

  11. Joe Says:

Joe you give this fool too much attention. He makes Stephen A Smith sound like Stephen Hawking.

    LOL

Joe- why are you giving a Boston sports hater this much attention? He’s always been bias against Brady.

Is that what it is? Had no clue. (Honestly).

Joe hears Wright’s SiriusXM show once in a while. It’s sort of predictable. He absolutely slobbers over the NBA. His football takes don’t seem too terrible. (We will see about this one.)

  12. Chris Says:

You’re giving it too much attention. How does Wright know the Bucs receivers run lazy routes? Does he have a copy of the playbook? Does he know what the route tree looks like?

Your FSU love for jameis is showing badly. But hey, why don’t you write about how we replaced a third string QB from last year – since that wax the best job he could land on the market with so many teams needing starters – LAC , Colts, New England, Miami , Cincinnati , etc. also the eagles wanted to upgrade their back up so badly, guess they didn’t give jameis a call nor did the Steelers.

  13. Marine Buc Says:

As much as I hate to hear about it – it’s true. We have a great QB that is 43 years old. If he stays healthy we will win more games than we lose. If he gets injured it’s a coin toss.

    Healthy Brady = 10-6
    Injured Brady = 7-9

Let’s hope he stays healthy. Go Bucs!

  14. Day 1-76 Says:

He looks like that idiot Tom Green.

  15. Joe Says:

Your FSU love for jameis is showing badly.

Stop! Not only did Joe not go to school there, he doesn’t give a flying sh!t where a guy went to school so long as he can play.

You see Joe crying for Bobo Wilson???

What next, people are going to say Joe wants another running back because he supposedly doesn’t like Wisconsin (Dare Ogunbowale)?

  16. Joeypoppems Says:

I still dont understand why people act like Brady has to have this all-time, historic season for the Bucs to have success.

  17. Jimmy Says:

    Did FS1 hire Gil Arcia?

  18. SufferingSince76 Says:

If Brady was still with New England none of this crap about his age would be said. It’s a form of still ragging on the Bucs.

  19. TOM Says:

Another assclown heard from. Who is this bum? Never heard of him.

  20. Swampbuc Says:

Wright is a feminine hygiene product. I can’t stand that pencil neck. He might be correct, and I’m glad he’s putting out some negative vibes to temper the ridiculous hype, but, man what a gork.

  21. Roadwarrior Says:

Why is it that people think the nfl gave the bucs an easy schedule the schedules are predetermined except for two games and those two games are also determined based on last year’s records.

  22. adam from ny Says:

without jameis blowing around 3 games and matt gay blowing at least 2, we potentially could have been a 10-12 win team…

    say an 11 win team…

so said dude is kinda buggin’ out…

    i really can’t see 8-8…

but if such is the case, brady and gay and a lot of others are really going to have to blow a handful of games…and i don’t really see that happening…

saying the bucs are this years browns is an easy call, but a bad call…this team can’t be compared to the last years browns for a number of reasons…

brady is a seasoned vet, mayfield was almost a rookie…

the coaching is significantly better than kitchens and squad…

the veterans sprinkled all throughout this roster (except in the secondary) is incomparable to that wet behind the ears browns squad…

and we have a solid locker room, with no divas like they have over there…

i can go on and on, but the bucs and browns are not really comparable – some folks just seem to need to write a story, and lack a creative new theme to discuss…

it’s just a simple storyline that gets reiterated when pundits have no quality thoughts…

in the end, an 8-8 season this year would likely be considered more of a failure than last years 7-9 season…

i just can’t see it happening, barring mega injuries of course

    #DudeIsStraightShmuckingOnTwitter

the 2 teams are not even in the same spectrum roster wise

  23. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We all know how Brady responds to being told he will fail. I have no issue with this guy saying this, because I know Tom Brady will feed off it. As he told Jason Licht when he first called him:

“You won’t be sorry you called.”

  24. Chris Says:

Did anyone look at that New England roster and wonder how they won 11 games? Or that offense and wonder how Brady threw 24 TDs to 8 picks without a deep threat or really any threat on offense?

  25. Givva Says:

Pretty sure the opponents were known before we even signed Brady

  26. Oneilbucs Says:

Chris The Patriots had the number 1 scoring defense . They were number 2 or number one in total defense that have a lot to do with winning also . But what happened when the runningback got hurt he threw a pick 6 to end the season . And don’t tell me nothing about Jamies because he’s gone now . No more scapegoats no more excuses superbowl or bust …

  27. Tyson Kennedy Says:

Did anyone else notice? Homeboy looks like a friggin terrorist! I’m waiti g to hear the bastard start screaming Jihad against Tom Brady! Lmao
The guy is a complete garbage factory. For Joe to even give this moron print is ridiculous. Cmon Joe! We expect better than rehashing some d-bag going against the obvious. That’s like calling MJ the worst basketball player and you give him credit for it!
    Wasted my time, Joe.

    Absurd

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

    O’Neill

“No more scapegoats no more excuses”

Wow you expect us to go cold turkey after FIVE YEARS of nothing but excuses for “Blameless”?

  29. Buc4evr Says:

I love it. You can bet Brady is reading this crap and using it as motivation. Bulletin board material- keep it coming.

  30. Proudbucsfan Says:

This d- bag definitely has that face you just want to punch, he probably got his
arse kicked a lot growing up. He is so annoying to watch.
