Licht gave the patriots a 4th round pick for Gronk who said he only wanted to come out of retirement to play with Brady .. why not offer a 6th or 7th round pick instead ?
Impossible to tell yet if these players will be good or not until they’re on the field. All we can do is see if they got good value and filled holes in the roster. Tampa did both so they get an A from me.
I give them an A. This was a great draft especially when you consider Gronk as our 4th rounder. Only pick I thought I would have changed after the draft would have been Vaughn.
But after doing a deep dive into his game film and not just highlights (which were underwhelming) I’m ok with the pick. Dude is like a bigger, tougher, but stiffer version of Jameis White which is great for us.
He doesnt quite have White’s lateral agility and fluid hips, Vaughn is larger, tougher to bring down and runs behind his pads a bit more but they are essentially the same type of player.
Vaughns hands are under-rated and had more receptions than Dobbins and Swift.
I love the value of the first two rounds’ picks. I was initially a little down on the 3rd rounder (Vaughn) with Moss still available, but the coaches probably liked the production vs. level of SEC competition they saw on Vaughn’s film? Love the 5th round value they got in Johnson. Based on where they got him he may end up being the biggest bang for the buck steal for this year’s Bucs draft class? Sixth round on…I have no idea, but extra depth and special teams is usually the goal. They may have bolstered both? In a perfect world we would have landed Wirfs and kept our 4th round pick (where I thought Vaughn would have still been available), but I’m still in the “A- grade” camp based on addressing holes in the roster and getting very good value.
I would have graded it an ‘A’ if they had drafted a hotshot running back. Maybe their guy surprises all of us and blows up (maybe…hopefully). But I still think we’re going into the season with a glaring hole on the roster.
You cannot give an A when the running back position was not improved. A better GM figures out a way to get Wirfs and a top RB in either draft or FA. No excuses for the general manager of facility coffee.
B. Would’ve gotten an A if Lichtweight had called Lynch’s bluff. If you lose Wirfs, then you take the D tackle from the Niners, and still have many decent OL prospects on the board. And a 4th round pick.
I give then an A+, considering I believe their 7th rd RB, Raymond Calais, will make the team replacing TJ Logan. Gronk is essentially our 4th and 3 others will receive starters snaps if not start, so this was an awesome draft!!
Based on the curve system I’ll give the draft an A-. Bucs knocked it out of the park w/ Wirfs & Winfield. Unfortunately the way the draft fell there were no top caliber RB’s available after rd 2. To me Vaughn was the best available RB. T. Jones has the talent to be WR3 & Nebraska DT will have the ability to make an impact immediately. Calais has the speed that’ll give him a chance.

90% grade A or B. Not a bad consensus.

Unlike some who believe otherwise, I CAN give an A. And I did.

Can’t be mad, though.

Think it was stretch on Vaughn. However, loved first 2 picks and thought we did well in later rounds. Vaughn = Payton Barber at best. B
