Hard To Believe

April 1st, 2020

Bucs coach Bruce Arians.

When Joe asked Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians what quarterback he would pick up the phone to call if he had his pick of a quarterback to swoop up in free agency, Arians famously said “Tom Brady.”

But at that moment, Arians didn’t actually believe Brady would be available.

Last week when Arians appeared on “Tiki and Tierney,” seen and heard on CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Radio, Arians was asked to walk the co-hosts, Tiki Barber and Brandon Tierney, through how this came about.

Arians said he didn’t believe Brady would be a free agent, that the Patriots would sober up and sign him. Then, Arians added, the closer it got to free agency and Brady still wasn’t signed, he started to believe more and more the Bucs had more than a prayer.

You can listen to Arians describe this in the CBS Sports Network audio below.

    Still hard to believe.

I don’t think it’s really going to really sink in until we see Brady in a Bucs uniform!
It’s going to take some getting used to… But it sure is awesome to be positive about an upcoming Bucs season after decades of caring the foreknowledge that the next season was going to be filled with more loses than wins!

Some day it will be fun to learn what was really going on behind the scenes between Tom Brady and the Patriots before free agency.

Right now I don’t really care. I am just pumped because he chose us. I am happy that the “stars have aligned” with Bucco Bruce Arians, his people and Sir Thomas Brady coming to us and the return of our key free agents.

Thank you Jason Light and the “football gods”.

    Yeah, still hard to believe.

The Boston Belicheats could easily argue to the League office that BA’s media comment were a clear tampering case & hampered their ability to negotiate a new Brady contract (in good faith)….As TB12’s agency was using BA’s comments as leverage.

    We got him baby!!!

I saw it coming! I see the SB in our future too! Brady needed this team full of weapons, our GM, our Coach….and we needed him.

Cant wait for that opening kickoff!

@catcard, i seem to remember they werent even trying, wasnt reaching out to him….i seem to remember someone was actually rushing Brady to let them know what his intentions are…Kraft or Bill, i forget which one.

Thats not the way you treat a goat…..dude is gonna be playing with a chip on his shoulder, count on that!

Not sure how excited I am, because even though I was dizzy with Jameis, it was exhausting and exhilarating football, so we may not see the fireworks, but hopefully we will see the wins and still have exciting football, the excitement may come from the defensive side of the ball.

Has ANY team even sniffed at Winston yet?

Yes the teams sniffed then turned away but the Dogs rolled in it !!! LOL

Max…If NE wasn’t reaching out to TB12’s people, how was Bill/Kraft rushing him on a return decision???

BA’s comments in FEB (when most pending FA negotiations are on-going – behind the scenes) gave TB12’s people clear indication that there would potentially be a bigger pay day/bidding war on the horizon – if he didn’t accept NE’s offer & reached FA in MAR.

(That was not necessarily a given, even for the GOAT…As one RARELY sees NFL GM’s invest in age 43-44 of any players career, regardless of previous accolades.)

    No excuses

    QB> fixed
    defense> fixed
    kicker> fixed
    run game> will be fixed

AGAIN…BB was a LOSING HC before Brady. Parlayed his defensive genius into getting HC gigs…went one winning season and five LOSING seasons until he started Brady.

Coincidence? Or causation. Perhaps we’ll know better after this year.

To quote the wolf from pulp fiction “let’s not start sucking each other’s *****s”. The season hasn’t started yet.
