Godwin Talks Talking To Brady

No. 12 no more.

The source of that respect is Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin. The fourth-year receiver was discussing with Albert Breer of SI.com his conversation recently with new Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady.
This afternoon, the Bucs unveil their new jerseys. And Joe wonders how many folks will buy today Godwin’s No. 14. That’s right, Godwin gave Brady his No. 12, which he cherished as a kid, without much of a struggle.
It’s respect, Godwin told Breer.
“It didn’t take too much,” Godwin said of what it took to get Godwin to give up the No. 12, although Godwin was tight-lipped about what “it” was. “We just had a conversation and I told him why it is important to me. But I will defer to you. … I am cool with it.
“It was a respect thing. I have a ton of respect for him.”
Godwin then added about his new number, “I think 14 looks sweet.”
There was no sentimentality or reason to choose No. 14, Godwin said, other than it looked cool compared to the other wide receiver numbers available.
Getting a new number was not why Godwin said he talked to Brady. It was to begin the learning process for Brady as well as Godwin himself.
“It was starting our relationship,” Godwin said. “If we want to go where we want to go and accomplish the things we want to accomplish, we have to be on the same page. Not just me and him, but him and the [rest] of the receivers.”
As for the overall conversation with talking to a guy he grew up watching, Godwin said the experience “was surreal.”

I need a new Bucs jersey. Seem like the perfect time to jump on No. 14. Man, that number sounds familiar. Oh yeah, that’s where the Bucs pick in this year’s draft. Cool!

I have been waiting to get a Godwin jersey. I was not going to get one of the old hideous unis. Now it’s worked out anyway. New unis…new #.
Godwin is my favorite Buc!!! Although I think Devin White may challenge that in a year or two.
CG14 is all class…all professional…all team…and busts his butt fearlessly out on the field.
I do not think that we should take for granted just how blessed we are. At the position with the loudest mouthed arrogant arseholes…WR…we have TWO superstars who are team first kind of guys. ME 13 earned so much respect from me in the way he handled CG14’s breakout season. He was happy for the team and for CG14…we have the two classiest receivers in the league!!!!

Smashsquatch…LVD has been my favorite defensive Buc since probably his second year. Would love to get him. I think White is going to do nothing but rise but I’ll have to wait till after sophomore season to make my decision for that. I also would love a Vea. We obviously seen his strength and skills and I doubt he’s leaving after rookie contract. If Shaq shows up again this year, much great possibility in 2021. Same w

Choices:LVD, White, Vea on defense. Godwin and no doubt Mike Evans on offense. Brady maybe if he has a good year and gets us to at least the second round of the playoffs.

Now they just have to keep him upright. He ain’t squirming out of the pocket like Winston used to do.

I have tremendous respect for Chris Godwin and a growing respect for Devin White……..what great persons……
This was a class act move by Godwin and he had lifted his stock with everyone.

Godwin is going to be a problem for defenses for many years to come. Most definitely a class act giving up his # and keeping it to himself what if anything he got in return. Is it just me or has there not been much said from ME13? I saw the clip with him playing video games and the Hennessey but nothing else.

He said he’s gonna be quiet until JW gets a job… He see’s how JW is getting ‘hosed’ on the low while QB’s like Trubisky, Rosen, Marriota, Mayfield, Tannehill, Allen etc. are in the league and given chance after chance.

On the jersey note does anyone know why the custom jersey option is not available for the new uni’s. I always get mine customized.
