Bucs Draft Khalil Davis In Round 6

April 25th, 2020

Beau Allen is on the Belicheats, Carl Nassib is with Chucky in Vegas. The Bucs needed another big body to bolster their front.

In Round 6 today they added Nebraska defensive tackle Khalil Davis, a lightning-fast big man at 6-1, 308 pounds. Davis ran the 40-yard-dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in 4.75 seconds.

That’s crazy quick for a man that size, and his athleticism is what stands out. He has burst off the line of scrimmage and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of NFL pass rusher the Bucs might be able to transform him into.

Davis was a fifth-year senior in 2019 and had a career high 8 sacks.

He’s a needed depth piece (maybe more), and ironically NFL.com film guru Lance Zeirlein served up an NFL comparison for Davis in his predraft scouting report. He likened him to current Tampa Bay backup DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

Joe will never pout about the Bucs adding D-line help.

Priority free agent, not a draft pick, unless you wanted to waste one, I think we did. Look at his video before you say I am crazy.

I like that they addressed the DL depth. Obviously we are at the point of the draft where you cant really count on these guys making a big impact, but depth is always good.

    – Starting RT
    – Starting Safety
    – 3rd down RB
    – WR3
    – DL depth

Idk how anyone can be upset with this draft so far. Would love to see them draft some OL guys to close it out. Prince Tega is falling due to injury concern but he is worth the risk at this point

lets see – OT, safety, RB, receiver, DT, brady gronk resigned JPP ,SUH ,tagged barrett, took the apple turnover out of the oven, i do not think there has been a better job done this season, by any, gm coach duo in the league, way to go jason

  9. james west Says:

every position that needed addressed has been fulfilled, except the next QB and maybe we will get rodgers after brady

This guy is relentless, does not quit n is always making plays. He played DT and DE n had 8 sacks last year not to mention the tfl he had. He’s a regular in the backfield after the qb or anyone with the ball in their hand. Sort of reminds me of a baby Warren Sapp. I think this guy is a steal n a keeper. Once he connects with former Cornhusker Suh, he’s going to take his game to another level. Again, this guy is a steal and what I love most about him, even if the play is opposite his side of the field, he arrives on the scene somehow making or involved in the play being made.

Great 6th rd pick. Will learn from fellow husker Suh.turning out to be a very good draft from JL,keep it up we still have two more pics!

  12. hamilton Says:

a good pick, beau allen did nothing last year.

  13. Jason Mclaurin Says:

Hey 4.7 I would rotate him at OLB at times folks. Seriously he’s fast and I like this pick as well they are nailing this draft and it will show too. Benito Jones is a guy on my radar as well. He’s very strong on the interior.

  14. Cobraboy Says:

Solid pick. Need lots of Big Uglies.

  15. Zwak Says:

    Joe,
Has anything changed regarding personal in the scouting Dept.?

  16. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

Built like Fapp. Not that it means anything. Most guys built like Sapp are not athletes. He was getting some sacks, though!

It’s pretty cool that he gets to play with Suh. I’m pretty sure he probably looked up to him as a young Husker! Some good chemistry might really boost his development.
