Why??? He has always stunk and still does!!! What does he have on Bruce??

  2. Joe in Michigan Says:

Kinda figured this, BA likes him and probably will only make $1 million a year, or so.

  3. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Gabbert SUCKS.

  4. MadMax Says:

Well, that officially closes the door in JW?? (what was his number again, i forgot)…we wont need 3 backups, oh well.

  5. mickman Says:

This guy is an absolute Joke! It things like this that make me ponder ” Does The coaching staff have a clue what they are doing?”. Pretty easy to sign Brady not a tough decisions with a 20 year track record but what has Ariens done with any younger QB Since Big Ben and Manning, which by the way he was not the head coach of the team.

  6. Elite Vita Says:

Brady, Gabbert, Griffen. Are we not drafting a QB somewhere in this draft? Are we going with 4 QBs? Will there be QB life after Brady retires?

  7. JimmyJack Says:

He’s a Buc. Why are y’all hating him so much.

You haven’t even saw him even take a snap as a Buc. Calm down.

My opinion is this guy is probably a good fit for the lockerroom. Maybe he’s good in the film room and can help Brady get prepared. Bruce just aren’t gonna keep somebody around that’s useless.

Very simple minded takes above and trashing our own players…..and for no good reason. Pathetic.

  8. JimmyJack Says:

And yeah. We can still draft a QB if they wanna. Can keep 3 QBs like we did last year. If we don’t I might wonder if they think Griffen has some future potential. They did keep him last year after all.

  9. Bucsfanman Says:

Geez man! Gabbert is a BACK-UP, OK?! Everyone thought of Fitz the exact same way. When called upon, lets hope he’s ready.
And Griffin?! Ya’ll want a guy who’s started in ZERO games over a guy who’s started in some. No thank you!

  10. miken Says:

Was he hurt all of last year? i can’t remeber

  11. Bucsfanman Says:

    ^^^yes

  12. Defense Rules Says:

Gabbert is fine for training camp, but I’m convinced that BA is on the lookout for a quality veteran backup QB who could fill in should Brady go down in much the same way that Bridgewater filled in for Brees last season. THAT’S not Gabbert. Not Griffen either apparently.

  13. El Buco Realisto Says:

Strange that Gabbert’s most productive year was his rookie year with Coach Koetter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

I am good with it. A capable back-up who is very familiar with the offense, and has done well with Bruce in the past when needed.

  15. NDog is an idiot Says:

I’ve got to admit that he is definitely worse than Winston. But comes at little cost. Wonder if Winston would take 2 million for a year. That at least would be more than Ndog is giving him for his services.

  16. Marine Buc Says:

Gabbert looked effective in preseason running this offense until he got tackled and injured his shoulder. This is probably a sign that we will not be drafting a QB in April unless it’s a 4th or 5th rounder to replace Ryan Griffen.

Don’t hate on Gabbert. He isn’t bad for a backup QB.

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

    MarineBuc

A voice of sanity on a blog of hyperbole. Everybody doesn’t always either suck or play great…there is actually room for some mediocrity especially if its backup QB for just a million.

To illustrate Marine and now my point…to see Gabbert’s upside look at his 2015 season.

He started 8 games for Jim Tomsula’s 5-11 49ers. He went 3-5 passed for over 2000 yards, 10 TD’s 7 ints. Sparkling numbers? Nah..sucking numbers hardly.

Do the math that projects to a 4000…20 TD…14 int season. Gabbert is a prototypical game managing QB whose job is not to get us to the SB…but keep us from falling off the cliff if Brady misses time. Based on his 2015 season on a poor team…poorly coached…he fits that bill.

  18. Pewter Power Says:

Leave it to this site to have nothing but a negative spin on this signing. Do any of you think to use your brains first. Honestly think we are signing this guy to actually play or hold a clipboard?

Who better and cheaper that will help us the more than Gabbert when really what you need from this guy is to help Brady get up to speed on the playbook and draft a quarterback to learn from both those guys.

Damn people we’re hoping he has no more impact on the field than he did last year, who the he’ll cares about his stats and how productive he was, Brady gets hurt not even Winston would get us to the playoffs. How do I know? He hasn’t yet

  19. Ndog Says:

So we have a 43 year old immobile QB playing behind Donovan Smith and what looks to be a rookie RT and Blaine Gabbert.

Boy this is going to be good!

    So excited…..

  20. Ndog Says:

Our future is so bright I think we all need to buy shades.

  21. Elita Vita Says:

Would prefer to draft a young QB so that Brady can also mentor him.

  22. SB Says:

Gabbert has a back up job.
    JW3 still doesn’t

  23. Mark Says:

This is my doomsday scenario. Tom Brady gets hurt in the first two games. Blaine Gabbert is the backup. Then we either need to trade something of value to try and get Ryan Fitzpatrick or we are “tanking for Trevor”.

  24. AwShbucs Says:

I’d much rather have waited and maybe signed Jameis as the backup.

  25. rogertampabay Says:

this is only a feeling, so i might be wrong, but i dont think coach wants a decent backup. he didnt want to push our former qb. this backup wouldnt be pushing tom, but i think its his way of avoiding a qb controversy. if we signed #3 as a backup, hed have to deal with a very loud but small segmaent of our fans screaming for him to be back in.

  26. IE Buc Says:

Joe Flacco was available. He would have been a good backup QB and a way better upgrade over Gabbert.

  27. K2 Says:

I don’t think that changes the BUCs draft plans. Hopefully, they will be looking for the future in the draft.

  28. Swampbuc Says:

Please baby jesus do not let Blame Goobert see the field ever.

  29. Ndog Says:

So if you guys hate Jameis now, how much are going to hate him IF Brady gets hurt, Jameis is still a free agent and the Bucs call him to come save their season and he says na I’m good you got this with Blaine.

That would be so karma coming back to bite the lier Arains.

  30. FortMyersDave Says:

Man I hope the Bucs get a door number 2 to Gabbert/Griffen as TD12’s backup….. Lets see what the Bucs do come draft time, perhaps the Bucs get someone who can be groomed by TD12 on day 2 of the draft (assuming the Bucs go OT in round 1).

Fir those still posting about Winston; I suspect that he will find a home right after the draft along with crossdresser Cam Newton once teams like the Chargers and Jags figure out if they need a backup or someone to compete for their starting job under center. For some reason I can see Jaboo playing fr the Jags next season and I wish him all the best!

  31. stpetebucsfan Says:

    NDOG

You don’t need to wear shades you’re obviously blind!

  32. Proudbucsfan Says:

Every Buc fan better pray that Tom Brady doesn’t get hurt.
These fans thought that Jameis couldn’t read defenses and held onto the ball too long, wait until Gabbert gets in the game, he’s clueless, just ask any Jags fan.
13-35 carrier record with 56% completion rate 48td and 47ints. Blain Gabbert should not be in the NFL….

  33. chuckabuc99 Says:

    Boooooo

  34. firethecannons Says:

    how unfortunate
BA has a man crush on this guy cause he has no ability–last years preseasons he was bad–Ryan Griffen was better

  35. SwampFox Says:

BRILLIANT! Another under appreciated management coup by the Bucs personnel tacticians. Huh?

  36. Craig Says:

We get to find out if Arians really is a straight shooter.

Last pre-season Griffin was the top rated QB in the League. Gabbert looked horrid before he got hurt.

The Bucs should still draft a QB. They will keep three on the roster, maybe put the draftee QB on the practice team.

If they don’t and Griffin does what he did last pre-season and gets cut, we will know how Arians works. Maybe he wants to add Gabbert to that massive coaching staff of his.
