Life will change for Byron Leftwich once he gets to start coaching this season.
One of best friends, a future Hall of Fame quarterback, explained.
Leftwich spent years as backup to Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh, where he was screamed at a lot by Bucco Bruce Arians and also played a ton of golf with Arians and Roethlisberger.
On Thursday, Roethlisberger was asked what he thought of Tom Brady going to the Bucs during a chat on The Blitz on SiriusXM NFL Radio. The Steelers’ star said Leftwich already is liking his lightened load.
“I was excited for [Brady] because I knew who he was going to play for in Bruce Arians. And he’s going to enjoy the heck out of that because he was fun to play for,” Roethlisberger said Thursday on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“Byron Leftwich, I texted Byron and said, like, ‘Hey, don’t screw it up.’ And he said, ‘All I got to do is get out of the way.’ So, you know, it’s going to be good for [Brady]. I’m excited for all of them.”
Figure out the roller coaster that is unemployed America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, or watch Tom Brady dissect defenses and raise the level of practice all week?
It’s no wonder Leftwich is ready to “get out of the way.”

Leftwich is smarter than we thought. Sit and watch Bruce Arians, Tom Moore and Brady craft an offense. Two years of that and teams will probably come calling for head coaching jobs for him and and likely gutting the biggest coaching staff in the nfl.

That’s interesting. Last I knew you were bragging about Jameis stats. So if both of those coaches are garbage, yet Jameis still put up those stats, he basically did all of it on his own, without them. Oh, and we finished 7-9.
So now with Brady, you’re saying we can’t win. Well what if Brady just does what he wants to do and changes plays early and often? Because he’s proven he can read defenses and assess routes and coverages more efficiently than the blind JW.

I think BL was great last year. Now he doesn’t have a turn over machine, has an OC on the field, and hopefully will have a RB.
He needs to stay here 2 more years with Brady –

Here is a professional and prudent attitude that Byron has! How refreshing it is to find a coach that is malleable. It is rare; very rare!
Give credit to Harbaugh for designing an offense & implementing it to his unorthodox quarterback’s strengths instead of forcing him to be something he is not! It’s working now, right?
Most of these guys are arrogant twits willing to change for no one.

BL is fine to some degree. BA is cool but ego is his issue. the real issue over the last 6 years? Defense. Our secondary was garbage first half of the 2019 year and every year before that. We gave up points and lots of yards before we gave up 30+turnovers. We need to fix the secondary and our weak run game before we talk about QB play and oc play calling.
When was the last time we had a runningback that took pressure of the QB? You can’t be aggressive up front and run play action pass or manage clock control with a bad run game and half ass defensive backs giving up 300 yards and 3-4 TDS a game. Thank God for Barrett last year. Winston got too much blame over his career but we sucked before we got Winston. YI’ve been a Bucs fan for years coaching and drafting has hurt us way more then Winston.
Winston was only 20 when we got him that’s 4 years younger than most rookies in some cases you should expect a learning curve for a kid only 2 years out of high school playing big boy ball with grown men. We need to develop and draft better on defense and on the o line before we change our staff,Again. We need a consistent team identity which has always been hard defense and pound the rock, not throw it 40 times a game and be one dimensional. That’s why we turn the ball over so much. To many plays that take forever to develop and that is BAs system. Use your tight ends. Brady didn’t have either last year and he regressed. I coach so I know. We need to get back to running the ball and let our defense win games not rely on a 43 year old QB
