Suh Brings The Pressure
March 31st, 2020Long-time defensive line beast Ndamukong Suh may have wanted to return to the Bucs because of Tom Brady. But the Bucs wanted Suh for different reasons.
Yes, Suh, along with Vita Vea, anchored the best run defense in the NFL. Now critics will mock Suh for being over the hill at 33 and recording the lowest sack total (2.5) of his career.
That didn’t mean he wasn’t getting pressure on quarterbacks. Per NextGen stats, which is run by the NFL using sensors in players’ equipment, only two interior defensive linemen had more quarterback pressures last year than Suh. One of them, Aaron Donald, will be in Canton someday.
Both Calais Campbell and Suh each had 43 quarterback pressures last year. Cam Heyward was fifth with 42.
So you can easily see why the Bucs wanted Suh back. While he may not have the sacks any longer, he still strikes fear into a quarterback’s heart.

So cool to have what looks to be a legit defense again.

meaning the Joe’s …I don’t know how many times Joe has criticized him since he became a Buc and replaced Joe’s bro McSofty.

Suh!!! This is a prime example of why stats don’t tell the whole story. Suh was constantly disrupting plays along with Vita. This D is going to be exciting, they will play more free now with a year under their belt in Bowles system, not to mention minimal personnel turnover will go along way in trusting one another to do their job. Here’s to hoping everyone stays healthy!! Go Bucs and show us the new uniforms already damn it

He takes up two guys in order to let shaq and JPP feast on some QBs
Dont forget jpp missed Almost everything last year (practice/training camps/preseason/season) and JPP was still dominate when he returned not in the best shape of course
If this season ever happens…look out…
And don’t sleep on Vea with another year under his belt .
That line could be filthy

Such and Vita consistently passed the eyeball test. On any given play, you could feel confident that the middle of our defensive line was going to get a massive push. I often watched Vita just because it was fun to see him blow offensive lineman back.

The old guy still has wheels…remember the scoop and score against the Rams?
March 31st, 2020 at 8:54 am
Yes, QB’s are scared of him.

The Suh/Vea/Gholston combe kept QBs from stepping up into the pocket, helping the DE’s feast.
I had no doubt Suh would be back.

Is there a better front seven in the NFL than the JPP/Vea/Suh/Gholston/Barrett group?
Is there an equal?

Shaq may have the sacks and the cash but Suh and JPP are the motors powering that entire D last year. Very eager to see what year 2 looks like… fingers crossed that we see the late season DB play from the young ones. Bucs D could be one for the ages if it all gels… S is only glaring hole but Decota and Adams were sneaky no-name talent when on the field.

Just glad we got him back. Now they need to keep everybody healthy & the sky’s the limit.
March 31st, 2020 at 9:26 am
We essentially have our entire defense back……missing Nassib & Allen….but we should be able to replace them…
That, plus the continued development of our young DBs will make us a top 10 defense for sure.

Need to add another lineman and safety
March 31st, 2020 at 9:51 am
the way he destroyed goff to clinch the rams win should be an indication why QBs would be scared of this baaaaaad man!
March 31st, 2020 at 10:11 am
We need an IDL or 2 before we need a DE.
Agree about the need of a safety, that should be the priority because they are rather scarce this year. Dugger might be the best because he can cover slot receivers.

Add Kinlaw, or Brown to the mix.
March 31st, 2020 at 11:22 am
We need a RT as bad as any position but if by some miracle Kinlaw or Brown is there at 14 we must take one. I really do think the 49ers are sitting pretty there for this scenario. One knock on kinlaw is he complains a lot and doesn’t finish plays. He doesn’t seem to have that killer instincts. But man is he quick off the start, strong and athletic. Suh, VV and Kinlaw as our 3 linemen?! He would develop quickly learning from Suh and be a force by the 4th game.
Suh really is one of my favorite players in the league and he brings an attitude that cannot be quantified. He’s a cerebral massive bully who stays healthy. Big big signing for us, can’t express how important he is to our continued success. He’s worth every penny.

What is sad, is in a couple of years, the local media will be banging the drum for she-mc93 and about how great she was!!!!!!!!!!!! And right now, the better DT is playing at this late stage of Suh’s career!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suh and Big V!!! Anchors of our D…they free the Shaq and JPP!
God i cant wait till football starts!!!
March 31st, 2020 at 4:19 pm
Great job Joe pulling this out. I knew the guy was getting close on a number of occasions but 43 times is awesome and if you remember how bad we wanted Calais Campbell, Suh had just as many. So now all those who said Suh isnt worth bringing back put that next to the number 1 rush defense and Shaq and JPP and Vea and you have a damn good line maybe the best in the NFL. Hell yes!!!
