M. J. Stewart Talks Leadership Difference Coming

March 20th, 2020

Bucs smell radical change

Yeah, backup cornerback/safety and 2018 draft bust M.J. Stewart may not be on the Bucs roster this season, but he’s there now, and he’s been talking about the earthquake that just rocked the Tampa Bay roster.

Stewart was on CBS Sports Radio this week talking about how he learned of the Brady signing on Instagram and instantly told himself “the culture was going to change.”

Brady will even lead and inspire the defense, Stewart said.

“I’ve heard so many stories from my football friends about Tom Brady,” Stewart said. “I know he’s a field general. He’s a general out there. He makes sure the team is going how it’s supposed to, and if you’re not doing what you’re going to do, he’s going to get on you. That’s what we need as a team, especially on the defensive side playing against a quarterback like that, a Hall of Fame quarterback, and especially because we have a lot of young guys in that secondary, it’s going to help us a lot later on in our careers.

“Jameis was a great leader. Don’t get me wrong. But, you know, Tom Brady, he’s a Hall of Fame quarterback. He has multiple Super Bowl rings and he knows what it takes to get to that Super Bowl level. Just to share that knowledge of what it took, what type of team chemistry it took for his team to get to that Super Bowl level multiple times. For him to put that on us young guys, you know, that will help us out tremendously.”

Bucco Bruce Arians referenced Brady’s leadership, as did Jason Licht, in their quotes via the team’s official announcement of Brady today.

Joe remembers Jameis talking once about working with Vincent Jackson on learning how to communicate with defensive players so he could effectively lead them.

Whatever. It truly is a new day in Tampa Bay.

…I have always believed that well done is better than well said, so I’m gonna not gonna say much more — I’m just gonna get to work! #Year1″

    Ahh, no BS!

    How refreshing.

Who cares what MJ Stewart thinks……but what he says is likely true…..the entire team will be inspired.

  3. Sarasota Garey Says:

MJ will be gone before the season starts.

Just wait! Guys aren’t playing for money anymore on this team. They’re playing for Brady… they’re playing for a ring! It’s a new day today. Leadership on the offensive side is here. A true leader who inspires greatness all the time, is here. A leader who knows what it takes, is here. A leader that’s been there… multiple times, IS HERE!

It’s a new day, Bucs fans. Sit back and enjoy the show while it lasts 🙂

MJ will be gone before the season starts.

I was hoping the same thing but unfortunately since he was taken in the 2nd round his cap hit would hurt the Buc’s so he may actually be on the team because when you actually include his cap hit, he makes more sense than a rookie making the minimum. And after our signings this offseason, we are up against the cap again.

“Jameis was a great leader. Don’t get me wrong. But. . . .

Mr. Unemployed, America’s Draft Bust, backup Jameis Winston was not a great leader. He wasn’t even a bad leader. He wasn’t a leader at all. When anyone makes a statement and then follows that up with a “but” then everything said after that nullifies the first statement.

  9. El Buco Realisto Says:

There will only be 5-6 starters left from the opening day of 2018 season!!!!!!!!!!
Do the sheep still think the roster was not the problem!!!!!! Will they still say that they had “playoff” talent!!!!!!!

    Lol!!!!!!!!

The truth has been revealed, and the sheep are just now starting to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Sarasota Garey Says:

geno711 Maybe draft a cb late rounds, and have them battle for a roster spot, MJ has not played well.

  11. TOM Says:

Bucs players who are not ready to give 110% on every play need not show up. Are you listening D. Smith?

  12. lowercaseg Says:

MJ shouldn’t be on this team.

  13. That guy Says:

I bet the chances are none.. But given that Jameis is going to be relegated to backup somewhere, wonder what his chances are resigning with us? He always loved Tom Brady. So it would be an awesome situation for him to sit behind a HOF and learn for2 years and then Tampa Bay could be set for a long while.

But egos are always bigger than dreams.

  14. The Ghost of Leeman Bennett Says:

Winston has been a starting QB in the NFL for 5 years now and I am reading people around the NFL using words like “project” and “potential”…. that sums it up pretty well.

  15. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

When the final roster is announced, MJ Stewart will be doling out Quarter Pounders with Jay Miss as his Manager!
