Perriman Sets Record, Too

December 15th, 2019

Humming.

Just a few weeks ago, many Bucs fans were hoping wide receiver Breshad Perriman would have been cut so the Bucs could get potentially a measly fourth-round pick.

And Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht caught hell from these same fans for sticking with Perriman, even though the speedy receiver flat out stunk.

Well, something happened between Perriman and Mr. Excitement, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, because the fourth-year pro from Central Florida is blowing up.

Perriman caught three touchdown passes from Jameis today, a career record for Perriman.

“Jameis was stepping up, so shout out to him,” Perriman said with a laugh on the Buccaneers Radio Network. “None of this is possible without him.”

When Perriman was informed he was part of an NFL record-setting day for Jameis, Perriman only added. “He’s a dog, man. Jameis is a dog.”

Last week Joe had a brief one-on-one with Perriman and asked him why he’s balling out when just a few short weeks ago he barely made a dent in a game. Perriman seemed to believe his extra work with Jameis is beginning to pay off.

“It is just clicking,” Perriman said. “Everything just started clicking. Me, Jameis, everything started flowing.”

It will need to flow more, at least for two more weeks, with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller all nursing hamstring injuries.

1 game sample size. Buy or sell?

    Sell

  2. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

The Joes were leading that “cut him” pack too! Nobody’s perfect!

I was tough on perriman in the beginning of the season but he’s turned it around….

Would like to see him back next year

    GO BUCS

    Tbbucs3,

1 game? He’s played well the last 3 games. Right now he is passing the eye test easily. You can see him catching the ball effortlessly. It was a struggle for him early but not now. Looks like he has been working hard on catching.

    It’s a buy for me.

Kid was a fkn stud in college. Great speed AND great hands, so it really surprised me how much he struggled catching the ball in the NFL.

Good to see things clicking for him and him making plays.

  6. runnerdoc Says:

The Bucs aren’t going to sell. The question is, will the Bucs compete with the buyers? The buyers are going to make offers. No question.

  7. DB55 Says:

Good thing JayMiss WinsNot has a pro bowl hof WR like Perriman to bail him out.

  8. Rayjay1122 Says:

Winston is gaining confidence in Perriman. Good thing WR is a team strength with good depth or else it would be very ugly next week but I think with PMan19, Watson, OJ and Brate as well as involving more RB screen passes that we will be OK.

  9. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

At least, he’s starting to catch the ball. However, we’ll see how he does as #1 next week as there is no way Godwin plays.

Dude broke free when it mattered exactly when he needed to and went OFF!

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I was maligned, scoffed at, ridiculed by many when I posted (several times) that Perriman would outperform Djax…..well Perriman has 5 tds this year & Djax had 4 last year…..I’ll take a bow. Thanks!!!

  12. Buccfan37 Says:

Possibly the turf at the game has something to do with the Buc injuries.

  13. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

    Any word on Godwin?

  14. Jean Lafitte Says:

The work on the jugs and extra film study is paying off. Jameis has said he has been working with him after practices and it shows. That receiver room is helping each other out quite a bit with Watson and even our new guy Ishmael Hyman who caught his first Buc pass.

  15. DBS Says:

Funny as hell to read this. Bucs fan’s? Guess we should go back and see what some writer were saying and thinking should have been done or happened.

  16. DaBux Says:

Pay but don’t overpay. If some team wants to go full metal stupid and pay him $10 million per year, good luck. Offer him 3 years, $4.5 million per + incentives.

  17. Craig Says:

I gonna kind of blame Jameis for the starting slump of Perriman. It takes Jameis a while to notice anyone new in the offense. Perriman was open often and Jameis passed him by. When he throw the passes were in obtuse places for a clean catch.

They have now gotten on the same page and it should work well for the rest of the season, or until Perriman gets double teamed. Maybe we can even see a real deep ball by the end of the season.

  18. bojim Says:

Fooled me. He ‘clicked’. Unlike Jackson. Congrats.

  20. rrsrq Says:

People down on Perriman early on couldn’t see the value of a speed receiver that opens the field up for ME and CG, even the tight ends, he was the third option, so even being mentally ready when you may even be the fourth option could be difficult

  21. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

DB55 your posts making fun of all the haters are the best. Keep up the good fight my man. Good stuff.

  22. Ozziethesportsjunkie Says:

I would find a way to keep
This guy…either Winston was sandbagging 5 years or this is the WR he’s been looking for..beautiful passes in stride rarely seen in these parts …I like most was ready to jettison him earlier in the year (see the handoff collision and two point one foot in conversion) but I stand corrected

  23. July Joe Says:

Jameis has a history of making any WR look like a star and getting that person a nice new contract … Breshad Perriman’s up next … one more guy who will love JW for life for padding his bank account.

  24. Slugglife Says:

P Man had an awesome game. I think two of those passes looked like overthrows and Bam! Snatched right out of the air.

Like that one hander last week. Well done.

  25. Bill M Says:

I ragged on the guy earlier this year, but he has been a star the last 2 games. He made Jm look good by snatching some of target throws. He won’t be under the radar the rest of this season.

  26. Greg Says:

The fans were saying Joe? I seem to recall there being story specifically on this website where the Joe’s were saying to cut him. The hypocrisy continues
