Leftwich Preaching December Football
December 11th, 2019Joe has heard many Buccaneers speak in tones of reverence when it comes to offensive coordinator Bryon Leftwich.
The man is garnering a lot of respect.
Of course, it helps when you’re an offensive coordinator whose offense ranks third in total yards and succeeding in the red zone. The Bucs rank eighth in the NFL when it comes to red zone touchdown percentage, and they’ve been improving over the past month and are far better than last year.
Leftwich turns 40 in January and wants to be an NFL head coach. And per O.J. Howard, Leftwich is talking like one, heavily preaching the importance of December football to the team.
Howard explained this week on Buccaneers Radio. Asked about winning three in a row (and not asked about Leftwich), Howard rolled into chatter about Leftwich lecturing on December football in the last couple of weeks and the importance of learning how to win now in December so the Bucs can get to the postseason next season.
Joe thought it was interesting that Howard went there when he could have gone in many other directions.
Down went Mike Evans in the first quarter on Sunday and Leftwich adjusted en route to the Bucs exploding on offense and staying confident.
That was a big win for the coordinator’s preparation, and now Bucs fans will see how Leftwich can adjust again Sunday without Evans and the Lions very ready to make life tougher for Chris Godwin.

BL has managed to create a top10 offense with a QB that leads the league in INTs and no run game…..
he’ll be fine without ME13…..
just think of it as if we’re playing the saints….lol…
GO BUCS!!!!!

If he so good…. why do the nation thinks Arians is calling plays running the offense?
BL is still a unknown. And really it’s only been JW ME13 Godwin and whatever offense line is woke on certain key moments. Outside of them this offense will be in trouble

Leftwich,
No jet sweeps, no end arounds, no QB roll outs. Leaves a lot to be desired. Too many games started with a 20 yard pass in the middle of the field. Geez, gets the backs involved EARLY.

i am still not convinced BA or BL are the right dudes for the job but thankfully they have the savior jameis winston to carry the way and offset the horrendous running game and offensive lines.

thats because the national folks dont watch bucs games….lol….
those same media folks will say the oline isnt bad….but if you watched the game it’ll tell a different story….
GO BUCS!!!!!

Good one 813.

He’s not ready to be a HC. In a couple years, BA moves into the front office as team president and BL gets the job.
Byron should buy himself a big house on a lake in North Tampa and just relax.

Good thing he’s not preaching the importance of September, October, and November football.
Apparently the only important football is when we’ve been eliminated from playoff contention. And for quite a while now.

14 rushing TD in the red zone > Taking the ball out of Winston hands in the red zone makes us better. Could of had more Td’s! Winston fumbled snaps in the red zone three /and who could forget Perrimans tackle of the running back in the redzone blamed on Winston by BA.
December 11th, 2019 at 10:13 am
BL has the offense operating at a level that monken and dirk dreamed of…..lol….
this offense is way more efficient…..
top10 offense in scoring, yards, 3rd&long, red zone%….
and he’s doing all that with a QB that leads the league in picks, inconsistent oline and no run game……
if BA was calling plays and we were top10 offense in scoring, yards, 3rd&long, red zone% no one would be complaining…..
GO BUCS!!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!!

BL—just a though big guy—why not have several fake runs up the middle–should fake our opponent out of their jock straps!!!!!
December 11th, 2019 at 10:53 am
8th in red zone! We were a negative number in the red zone the past five years. My head dropped when BA said BL was going to be calling the plays but he has definitely shown what he’s capable of now and the future. Maybe a quick, cheaper fix at HC with Bowels remaining at his side when BA retires.

How can anyone say the want to be a head coach when they had to be talked into coming back and was basically living on a golf course and showed no interest in football?

He is preparing for the 2020 preseason paper champion runs when the delusional bucs fans are pumped at drafting Syd Finch, the alleged stud LS out of South Hampton Institute of Technology.

that’s pretty damn funny sir… unfortunately it’s also a realistic possibility….

talk to me after we are in the playoffs………nothing against him, but the offense had been putting up decent numbers since ME could catch a hail mary

When your out of the playoffs by Halloween why is December important. This is a reoccurring train wreck every year. Crap first half of year then some glimmer of hope as the year closes. It’s a Buc life!

Byron is be8ng groomed to be the next bucs coach. Arians will stay here until he knows the time is right!
