  1. Immaterial...WT(H) Do I Know..? Says:

I chose “Franchise” for one specific reason: what other options do we have? Cost…? He comes with a hefty, hefty, price. We are dammed if we do, and damned if we don’t at this point. Why not roll the dice? Let’s add pieces (supplements), and go for broke? This team is ready….

  2. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

Bring him back. No one out there to replace him and damn a rookie. Draft for the trenches. No secondary picks

  3. ben Says:

keep Winston and be an average team with good weapons on his side of the ball. If you want to play in the big games in January ,move on

  4. Slugglife Says:

    200+ votes. 3 comments. Make that 4.

This will work out just like the polls in the 2016 Presidential election.

  5. Slugglife Says:

Yes. Trenches all day. Our RBs are good enough. Just need more running lanes and pass pro.

    Better not draft 1 CB.

  6. Donuts Says:

I have shifted from don’t resign to franchise tag 1-year. I see glimmers of hope with Winston. If he can cut down the turn overs on his side of the field by 25% Bucs could have a big 2020.

I don’t think we should resign JPP and pick the best DE in first round.

  7. SB Says:

Joe there are not enough options on this poll for me to answer correctly.
Now we will see if this post is in m o d eration or not.

  8. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Not sold. If you can get Jay Miss for $10M to $15M, ok. I certainly don’t want to franchise him for 27M or whatever it costs.

  9. bucfanforever Says:

not my money; sign up him for a decade

  10. Ndog Says:

The people saying sign him for $10M to $15M are yet again proving how CLUELESS they truly are. SMH!!!

  11. NPRSageBoy Says:

Mr. Turnover needs a new home.

    Bye, bye JayMiss

  12. TexBuc Says:

LMAO if anyone believes Winston will sign for anything less than what he currently makes which is almost 21mil. Winston will be under center next year and we a REAL chance to finish with a winning season.

  13. snookman Says:

Bruce knows what he is doing

  14. George Rauh Says:

Sign him to a long term contract. 5 or 6 years make only the first two years guaranteed. That way if he does turn the corner you have hit locked in long term. If not drop him like he is hot.

  15. TexBuc Says:

    George

    Well said!

  16. bojim Says:

‘Keep firing’. Last few weeks sure have been good.

  17. Jim Says:

Agree that the preferred option, a two-three year contract at a team friendly price is not available.

  18. Jean Lafitte Says:

The debate is not even really about Jameis.

    It’s about Jason Licht.

If Jason Licht is not fired, Jameis stays.

If Jason Licht is fired, Jameis goes.

  19. Wesley Says:

You people are freaking insane, multi deal gtfoh.

  20. Jean Lafitte Says:

Don’t believe what I’m telling then listen to the burner account Jameis 1 of 1.

He pretty much summed it all up as if he has inside information. ..or does he?

  21. DI Says:

I think an overlooked aspect to a multiyear deal by some is that it can be formulated to cut him with minimal to no cost after 2 years. So a 4-5 year deal loaded up front so that if things don’t work out, cut him with little cap hits. Also, if I remember correctly – and someone please correct me if I am wrong – there can be clauses based on behavior that can void the contract. Mike Greenberg is great at these things. So a multiyear extension doesn’t bother me if that’s how it’s structured.

  22. Billy_45 Says:

    @Donuts
How we gonna pick the best DE.

    Young will go #2 overall.
Unless you mean the best available who might couldn’t hold JPP’s jock strap.

  23. David Says:

    Absolutely 1 year deal.
Stupid not to at this point.
Who’s going to replace him in one year?
I was ready to let him walk out the door when he had four ints in their last loss, but not now.
They have to give him one more year with Bruce. We need to see what Bruce can do.
If he can find a running game and get rid of 10 interceptions, then this is one of the top three offenses in the NFL and the Bucs would be sitting at 9-4 probably.

  24. JimmyJack Says:

Man I’d just love to see a multi-year deal. Make the commit. End the questions end the fan bickering…..and I think there is something to be said for not having a open ended contract fight hanging over your head.

Winston can handle in-game pressure. Let him just worry about that. Commit to this guy and let him relax. Get all this contract crap out of his head.

    4 solid year 110M guarantee…..That’s my plan.

  25. JimmyJack Says:

Then we can all just worry about one thing. The game. We starting to win games. Add on to what you have during the off-season and keep getting better.

Build around the cord we got right now. Cause they playing good football and can just keep getting better.

Let the Bucs get good then we can be great!!

  26. Craig Says:

I think he wasted the first four years of his contract thinking he was the ONE/ When this years audition started he sucked like he has for years. Then he started to realize he needed to be better, but didn’t really know how.

He is a talented slacker and will always revert to that. He will be resigned and we will have a few more years that are good for the booze industry. The best drive Jameis has is to make people drink.

  27. Buczilla Says:

He’s getting franchised despite the fact that he’s not worth it right now. Arians and Licht need to save face and who knows maybe Jameis learns how to be consistent? And maybe I’ll find the location of the fountain of youth and live forever.

  28. Kobe Faker Says:

“What Kobe Faker really wants to know is

When are they going to allow Jameis in the Nissan Heisman commercials?”

    Kobe Faker

  29. Coburn Says:

Stop asking who’s gonna replace him… you dont keep the guy out of fear… if he’s not it you don’t keep him around… finding the right guy is priblem for another day and may or may not be solved this offseas on. No need to be so short sighted. If you sign him for one year 27 mil then that’s 27 mil you can’t roll over to the next year. Are people really afraid if we drop him instead of franchise that we might miss a possible superbowl next year? At least try to upgrade th position even if it’s a mis rounder. Better than staying with something you know doesn’t work

So Craig the first guy in and last guy out, the guy that played with a jacked up shoulder, the guy organizing off season workouts, the guy that played through a broken thumb and is about to do it again is a slacker? And people wonder why I defend Jameis so much. If you want to know why just read this uninformed crap above from Craig. Ridiculous

  31. Adrnagy Says:

Calm down Stephen a Smith JR …

  32. BucFanDuh Says:

The Bucs have a lot of money to play with, but a rather large % of the 2020 cap space is based on the simple fact that we don’t have a QB next year. The % to keep Winston is roughly 25-30%. Franchise tag will cost 30%, multi year deal(heavy up front) is 28%, multi even spread is about 25%… “ish” on all of those factors. Aside from the QB position, our offense(3rd in the NFL) will continue its pace and be highly productive. But… big BUT, it will only continue is pace with Winston holding the gun. Lot of money to play with… and based on the offseason free agency pool, we can plug a few holes on the sinking side of the ship(the defense, ranked among the worst in the nfl). An experienced LOCKDOWN CB will cost the bucs $10-15mil.. that’s a predraft CB. We need new blood on the OL, save the top picks for an OL. Now… what do we have left to spend on the QB? That’s a fabulous question that Licht is paid to answer. The goal is to keep Winston next year(franchise, multi), not pay him a ridiculous amount(Franchise is ridiculous for the league leader in INTs). Are we trying to make the playoffs next year!?!? Of course.. so just like this year, where we are bad enough to not make the playoffs, and good enough to not draft a quality starting QB….. what is the goal for next year? Do we post a another .500, and win ourselves out of another QB draft pick? Imma just hope we can keep Jameis for 25%, not lose him like Steve Young.. and leave us with enough cap space to fix our REAL problems..

  33. Boltsfan17 Says:

Wins against lousy teams and confidence polls for Arians go up. Same for Winston.

It’s the bigger picture folks, team needs to go in a new direction at QB, HC, and GM NOW.

  34. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

85% of the JBF voters want to keep Jameis.

    Sounds about right.

  35. George Rauh Says:

    DI well said.

2 to 3 year deal is stupid. If you commit to him for 2 years you should sign him to six. You can cut him in 2 if he isn’t worth the money. 25 – 28 million a year now. 2 years from now we will be in a new CBA. There is suppose to a big jump in the cap. 2 years a QB will be averaging 40 million a year. Winston will look like a bargain at that price

  36. Allbuccedup Says:

If we keep JW the first four picks offensive tackle, defensive line, edge and cam akers.

  37. Donuts Says:

I meant to say best available DE in the draft. The entire first round is a crap shoot anyway. If the DEs are depleted, then go RT since Dot is done.

This game is and always will be won in the trenches.

Pick a RB in round 2-3. The other thing I would do as GM is trade Brate for a RT or picks. We don’t utilize him in BA offense.

  38. Craig Says:

Ndog Putting in a bunch of time does not mean he is not a slacker. If he was paying attention he would have figured a few things out by now, he hasn’t, so he isn’t paying attention.

Tossing passes to Louis Murphy in the off season is not the kind of thing that will make him better. It just reinforces his bad habits. He needs to spend some time with a QB whisperer, one who can help his mechanics. More consistent mechanics will lead to a more accurate passer, Jameis could use some consistent accuracy.

The broken thumb. He should be sitting down this game, but he knows it is a contract year and he does need more on his resume. Too many bad games this year still make his resigning a shaky thing.
