Did you wear your seat belt? Because that was one wild ride.
This has become Bucs football. It’s ugly. It’s pretty. It’s maddening. It’s exhilarating.
Lots of individual glory and breakdowns — and lately it’s enough for a “W.”
The Bucs are now 6-7 after this wild win against a very flawed Indianapolis team.
America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, did a ton of good and a whole lot of bad with three more interceptions that were on him. That’s 23 on the season. But James threw for a career-high 456 yards and four touchdowns.
Kudos to Bucs receivers for rising up after Mike Evans left in the second quarter with a hamstring injury. It was good to see. Justin Watson lives! Breshad Perrman had another strong game, and O.J. Howard and Chris Godwin did their thing as Jameis had no issues minus his top-dog receiver.
It’s likely Evans’ 2019 season ended today. That would mean he wraps up 2019 with 67 catches for 1,157 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Devin White’s late fourth-quarter forced fumble deep in Bucs territory, as well as Shaq Barrett’s goal line tackle at the end of the half, were massive, massive plays that should not be lost in the celebration.
The Bucs have won four out of five games. Enjoy it!!

Why do I feel this team just trying to get us to hope they can carry it into next year hen im reality they haven’t beaten an actual good team in a while and have basically just screwed their draft position these last few weeks. We will prob miss out on a couple real good players and not be very good again next year… hope I’m wrong. Just felt like today we limped by on a team that wanted thr win less then we did

I cannot help but be reminded of Andy Reed and Brett Favre.
I’m not saying Winston is as good as Favre, but Reed acknowledged the pipcks were driving him crazy and his assistants had to talk him out of benching Brett multiple times.
I imagine Jameis is driving Arians crazy in the same way.

That was a gutwrenching win. Very entertaining and exciting. But at same time was maddening how we lacked a ton of fundamentals today.
Winston made some great plays but was really quite awful with just too many mistakes. Our defense overcame the mistakes and gave the QB a chance to win it. Multiple times. To Winston’s credit he did what the team needed him to do………We were the better team today. The mistakes clearly cost us and almost lost us this one. This was a game where our talent prevailed.
Was a very fun win but there is clearly work to be done if we want to contend in this league. It will not happen with these mistakes.
All in all a great win and must be a lesson learned. We must get better from this and realize our full potential. If not we will go nowhere in the future!

the worst defense in football since 2015
the worst kicking game in football since 2015
the hardest schedule in football since 2016
This is one of the few 4th quarter comebacks the defense didn’t blow.
Anywho, we won – be happy people.

Winston’s not the answer…..the Jags tried with Bortles. He went far once, now he’s a back up for the Rams. FYI….Bortles is in all those “yds in first five years” conversations….as is Freeman. One is a back up, the other is out of the league. It takes too many resources to overcome those turnovers. You need a solid o-line….you need a running game….you need a pass rush….you need a secondary. The cap only allows for so much patch work via free agency…..you have to be able to hit on your draft picks consistently. We don’t have the GM to do that….we don’t have the QB to carry us. Something has to give and when it comes to a small market team with cheap owners, it will either be the d-line or QB. Keep the d-line you still have a chance…..keep the QB but lose the d-line, you have no chance.

This is the perfect JW game to sum up his career. He played an almost perfect game except for 3 throws….and those were just horrible. Its a phenomenal case study. The one thing I know. It is much easier to teach him how to make less turnovers than bring a safe QB in and teach him to make great throws. Still don’t know what this off-season will bring

And I know some goons will deny this but the secondary played great all day. The only thing that was easy for Brissett today was all the short field our offense (and ST) gave them.

Good game, but as soon as this team starts to get on a roll the glasers will screw it up by meddling or just pure cheapness….mainly because they just dont give a ****…they get paid win or lose, and losing is actually equally profitable given the flawed structure of NFL TV revenues.

One of those games where Good Jameis and Bad Jameis each share time in the huddle. No question that throwing 3 INTs is BAD, but he also threw for over 400 yards, completed over 73% of his passes AND brought us back. Defense played MUCH BETTER in the 2nd half than they did in the 1st half.

Also Davis may be the best tackling Corner I have saw in a very long time. Without some of his key tackles we lose today. Not to take anything away from a few other backend defenders who are also great tacklers.
Our tackling is so much better then it’s been in the last half decade+ and is key to us winning football games.

You are right they made more plays in 2nd half. And oddly enough their worst series was the first one of the 2nd. No idea what happened on that drive but they looked way out of sync.

Gifting the opposing team TDs most since 2015
Putting a bad defense in awful spots most since 2015
I mean, you must look at the entire picture to be intellectually honest about it.
Some of the misery the Bucs have suffered since 2015 is directly on Winston.

Anywho Bortles played in the worst division in football, year in year out played the easiest or 2nd easiest schedule (generally it was Mariota or Bortles) – and had a good defense or very good defense with most of his run – and speaking of run, he generally had a running game – and for the most part a good kicking game.
Learn the basics kiddo then you won’t be such a bore.

Turnovers nearly doomed this team. It took a team effort to overcome them.

Bucsfanman – We know what the game looks like with a “safe” game manager QB who doesn’t turn the ball over, it’s called Mike Glennon, and the Bucs lose 27-6 in a boring and dull game.
If this was 1999 or 2002 and you have the best defense in football then sure, get a game manager and grind out wins 16-6 wins. But in case you haven’t noticed the Bucs don’t have the 2002 all-time great defense, they have just about the opposite of that. I do think the defense will be better as the defensive backs improve, but we’re a long ways away from being even middle of the pack.
No risk-it, no biscuit.
Yet people think you can have one of the worst defenses in football and still win with no running game, half your o-line out and your top WR out. LOL!

Meanwhile the Chiefs defense has given up 265, while the Bucs defense has given up 381 (31st in the NFL).

It’s not a ‘light’ issue with me. It was a very painful life experience for myself and my entire family to watch my only brother die from AIDS.
I’ve asked you multiple times over the past year to stop using AIDS to try and insult people on this site. You continue to make a joke out of it, and for whatever reason, it continues to be allowed on this site.
So this is no longer a site I wish to participate on or spend my time with. It’s a matter of principle.
For all the Bucs fans I’ve had the pleasure of ‘debating’ with this on this site over the years, it’s been fun. I still don’t think Jameis is the answer at QB but Go Bucs.

Rod, “drinking a gallon of AIDS” is just a painfully stupid thing to say. Not humor, just stupid. I wasn’t offended. It was just some idiot putting words together in a comment. But to go all free speech anti-snowflake about it because someone WAS offended? That’s just being an assclown and hiding behind the First Amendment.
But yes, you absolutely have every right to sound like an idiot. I defend your right to offend people. Your comment is the text version of the Bucs uniforms today. Legal, but that doesn’t make it right.
