Vita Vea Running Pass Routes?
November 15th, 2019If Bucs fans thought it was cool that Vita Vea wiped out three defenders to allow Peyton Barber to score the game-winning one-yard plunge last Sunday, stay tuned.
Yesterday when speaking with the local pen and mic club, Bucs offensive coordinator was peppered with questions about the new Bucs’ secret weapon on offense, hulking Vea.
Now Vea has yet to touch the ball, but Bucs fans already have Warren Sapp dancing in their heads.
Remember when Sapp lined up at tight end in a game at Atlanta during the Super Bowl season? He caught a touchdown pass from Brad Johnson and did a Beyoncé dance.
Well, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich sort of held a carrot out to nibble on with a tease that could be coming for Vea (though Joe doesn’t know about the Beyoncé dance).
Asked about Vea running pass routes, Leftwich replied, “We’ll see.”
Why not? Let’s add spice to this season and give defenses extra things to worry about.
And for those who think Vea may not be athletic enough to run pass routes, check out him terrorizing high school defenses as a running back.

I would have no quarrels at all if we used Vea as a short yardage RB…..or put him in as FB……no problem.

The new Refrigerator Perry!
November 15th, 2019 at 8:11 am
LOL, I hope we put him in the offense again, against the Saints.

bad idea imo….
VV is too valuable….a DB goes low and theres VV out with a knee sprain or worse….
its sad when our best DT is our 6thbest olineman….
GO BUCS!!!!!

I’d rather see him run it, Jameis would probably overthrow him or throw him one of those 50/50 balls on his first attempt and be intercepted.
November 15th, 2019 at 8:21 am
Those kids didn’t want any part of trying to tackle him! Beast!! GO BUCS!!!
November 15th, 2019 at 8:27 am
Vea reminds me of Philly’s Jordan Mailata who played professional rugby and would drag players until he was finally gang tackled.
November 15th, 2019 at 8:28 am
Why not give him the ball on the goal line as RB?
November 15th, 2019 at 8:33 am
That side-shuffle is straight out of the Jerome Bettis playbook.
I like it!

That’s awesome.

Vita did play high school running back. Would love to see him get a chance at the goal line, either fb dive, or a pass

Our second best player behind Mike Evans.

can he play well for a full season before you hand out free passes and put him in the ring of underachievement.

The RB Vita ran down from behind was also on his school’s track team. Saw that before the draft. One reason I was so high on him if Neslon wasn’t available , as well as his natural strength.
Short and goal ? Vita would be a nuclear A-Train. THAT would be entertaining.

I wouldn’t say it’s sad that VV is out 6th best o-lineman, though that’s still a stretch. He is a freak of nature, Joe was right when he called him “manbeast.” It’d be a problem if say Anthony Nelson was our 6th best (though Iowa does have a history of good O-lineman).
November 15th, 2019 at 10:27 am
Didn’t the Bucs just put Vea in near the backfield against the Cards as a distraction?
November 15th, 2019 at 10:28 am
Running routs?…….how about handing it off for the 2point play after touchdowns!!!
November 15th, 2019 at 10:33 am
Tmaxcon,
Fair point on Vea playing a full season. He’s been great for us this year. No denying that. And he’s talented. I hope he and OJ can get/stay healthy bc both of them are freak athletes.
I do believe that 2nd most talented/valuable player on the roster is between Godwin and Vea.

Sapp did way more on offense than just that TD in Atlanta. He lined in multiple places including FB, RB and TE. God I miss him. After seeing that Good Morning Football film clip, I cannot wait to see VV on offense! I want to see him at RB and not just on the goal line. How exciting would that be?!

Awesome idea!!!

Would love to see him as a RB or FB
November 15th, 2019 at 11:13 am
he is probably the best RB on the team, look at his highlights
November 15th, 2019 at 11:21 am
@Joe do you know how many TD’s he has scored in one game and how many for a season? Just curious.
November 15th, 2019 at 11:38 am
That’s just not fair. I was expecting to see him running everyone over on goalline. Not out running everyone for 50 plus touchdowns.
November 15th, 2019 at 11:38 am
My favorite was the chest bump at the end of the clip where his team mate bounced back about 3 yards off of him.
Imagine if they were unstoppable in goal line situations, touchdowns and two point conversions?
Give him the ball.

i like vea but we have been let down too many times by players that flashed but were not consistent it’s part of being a bucfan
November 15th, 2019 at 12:34 pm
Loved seeing him come in for a few offensive snaps, whether he was blocking for the RB or just being used as a decoy. He’s quite fast for a big guy, just look at his high school and college tape.
No idea if he has good hands, but if so, why the hell not? It can be the Sapp / Donal Penn FB catch 2.0
November 15th, 2019 at 1:24 pm
Might as well let Rookie Devin White tote the rock down near the goal line and short yardage situations. He went to LSU to be a running back and converted to linebacker. Use all your weapons.
November 15th, 2019 at 1:43 pm
If VV enjoys doing a little offensive shuffle every now and then, go for it. I still want to see a complete and intelligent gameplan called using all our offensive talent, first!

“Throw to OJ Howard?”
Kobe Simpleton Faker
November 15th, 2019 at 4:25 pm
Vita Vea is a bad Mfer!! And to think, you idiots wanted Derwin James🤣
November 15th, 2019 at 6:01 pm
“Vea’s a bust.”
To all you negative douschebags who repeatedly posted these words, up yours.
November 16th, 2019 at 6:18 am
Looks like he’s running over a Hillsborough defender in the clip
