The Bucs Got A Call!!!

November 11th, 2019

On the last play of the game, Cardinals receiver Pharoh Cooper was mugged before the ball arrived by Bucs cornerback Jamel Dean.

Man, the football gods toyed with the Bucs yesterday — good and bad.

Joe’s biggest head-shaker was when they put K-Y on the football before Ronald Jones’ bizarre fumble, the first of his career.

But Joe’s focus here is on the last play of the game. The Cardinals trailed by three points and Kyler Murray heaved up a ball to receiver Pharoh Cooper, who took a shot to the body from Jamel Dean, followed by a left-arm hook squeeze and Dean impeding his Cooper’s right arm before the ball arrived at about the 20 yard line.

Joe’s got a screen shot above that shows a little.

No flag appeared.

No booth review.

No last-second Cardinals kick for the tie.

No goat status for Dean.

It was a freakin’ beautiful thing. Joe kept waiting for the NFL zebras in New York to step in. It took Joe a good 60 seconds to believe the game was really over with the Bucs eating a “W.”

It’s about time the Bucs caught a break like that.

I was waiting at my seat, in disbelief.

  2. Easy Says:

You dont get that call at the end of the game unless you have Brady, Brees or Rodgers as your QB

  3. Kobe Faker Says:

“Cardinals didnt have a timeout to challenge?”

    Kobe Faker

  4. BrianBucs Says:

We all complain about the officiating but the good and bad calls usually average themselves out.
I was also waiting for the flag on that one.

  5. 813bucboi Says:

That was a make up call from the BS PI the play before….

need a little luck every Sunday with this team

    GO BUCS

  6. Lubby Smith Says:

I’m surprised Old Bruce didn’t challenge it.

  7. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Yep…a Ref make up call for earlier blown call against the Bucs…PI flags are scary sh#!….no consistency,no rhyme or reason, no review, mandatory review, questionable timing … as I said scary flags

  8. Dewey Selmon Says:

The bald guy in the background is Cards GM Steve Kleim(sp). he was jumping up and down before the ball ever hit the deck. About time some Buc luck went our way.

  9. orlbucfan Says:

Zebs will never make up for all the bad calls Bucs have suffered over the years. They need to get rid of holding as a penalty, period! But, I had it on radio, and heard it. Long past time due. Bucs still have to play knowing they have to outplay the refs as well as the other team.

  10. nano107 Says:

There was a lot of contact but is a good no call
One went our way the Hargreaves one should not have been
Zebras cost us a game in Nashville
We got one I’m ok with that

D Smith had a hands to the face flag which was not really hands to the face other than an explosive follow though slip of a block to the chest…

.and OH !!….the STUPID kick off rule which virtually eliminates kick off returns has taken one of the most exciting plays in football away and a chance for a team just scored on a chance to get back on the score board quickly…it may even endanger returner more as they only now return in desperate situations…

  12. Buc believer Says:

Kobe being the football aficionado you claim to be surely you know that in the last two minutes all replays are done in the booth but you already knew that right?

  13. Rick Says:

It was an uninspiring win. As a Bucs fan I’m happy they won, but doesn’t inspire much hope for the rest of the season.

  14. James Walker Says:

The reason that was a “No Call” at the end was because BA threw that illegal challenge flag one the SACK, and cost the Bucs a timeout. This psychological ploy by Arians called out the referees terrible calls against the Bucs forced them to keep the flags on their belts at the end.

  15. Kobe Faker Says:

All scores are rechecked end of 2 minutes

Wasn’t the saints PI rule changed this year because of that exact situation

But the Cardinaks didnt have a timeout left?

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Yes….the Cardinals had one time out remaining…..but no, it wouldn’t matter because it was inside 2 minutes and teams cannot challenge.

It’s all up to the refs, Kobe.

  17. Stevebobucsfan Says:

As said. It’s time the Bucs get some calls that help with a win. We have had so many that cost us games. Just 5 minutes earlier Murray’s knee was down for a sack was not called I just hope this energize the Bucs. So many times the team come off a win like the Rams and just play horrible the next game

  18. Conte Piscatelli Says:

They threw up a prayer jump ball, nobody gets that call unless you flat out tackle the wr while the balls in the air. Additionally, Dean is playing the ball, good no call.

  19. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Better to be lucky than good sometimes

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

About time a ref noncall went the Bucs way. Bucs fans were waiting for the loser hammer to fall but the refs were too plum tuckered out.

  21. Coburn Says:

I must have been te only one who saw what looked like our d linemen get pulled hy the face mask on the same play.. offsetting of anything imo

  22. DB55 Says:

I thought the PI call on Evans in the end zone was a bigger gift but wtfdik

  23. Mike Johnson Says:

Again, Its about time we got a break our way. We’ve had several during the season that went the opposite. It did appear on the last play of the game we interfered. IN AZ we probably would have not gotten that call. I’ve said it before, When you enter another mans territory for war, you must defeat him soundly. In most cases, the breaks will go to the home team. All the record books reflect is a W. Its in da record books baby.

  24. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Did anyone notice how Peyton Barber was able to skitter past that Cardinal defender who only waved an arm at him. That’s because his other arm was in an arm bar hold by one of our OL.

A holding call right there would have been devastating.

The ref’s owed us a few make ups that game. Imagine being a referee and watching the “no sack” of the Card’s QB on the Jumbo-Tron.

  25. Beachdrive727 Says:

The call was correct, Dean was in position where both he and the receiver could make a play on the ball.

  26. cmurda Says:

Like Beachdrive just said, the ball was hanging up in the air and both Dean and the receiver were both jockeying for position. The last second heave rarely results in a PI. It should be noted that Dean does need to be a little more conservative at the end. He can still go up to defend the throw but the most important part is not to get a penalty and to make the tackle. The game still would have ended in victory.

  27. cmurda Says:

Let’s also not act like we got saved by the refs with the calls. There were several calls that got botched that went against us particularly with some of the phantom PI calls and letting a couple go that could have been called on the Cards. Also, there are always several holding calls that either get missed or touchy calls that are made. It’s just what it is with the terrible officiating and the “revenge” that NFL officials are utilizing when PI calls are challenged. Some of these calls that should be overturned are blatantly obvious and they are still not overturned. 9 calls all year have been overturned. 9. There should be more than 9 every week.

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

DB55 Did you think the throw was uncatchable already well past ME? To me that was what that call hinged on since the guy clearly took out ME’s legs.

Here is what bothered me about those officials. TV crew announces that the officiating crew was in second place in the NFL for the number of penalties called.

I knew we would have yellow fever. There were plenty of bad calls but as Brian pointed out they seemed to at least average out.

I like NBA attitudes far more than the NFL…No harm no fall.

If I see one more illegal shift that doesn’t have any impact on a play get called…..

  29. Hank Rearden Says:

    DBag55 aka Troll #3

Per usual, you don’t know. That PI in the endzone on ME13 wasn’t a gift. The DB fell and leg whipped ME13 and was a great both review.

  30. David Says:

Defenders do this all the time it drives me crazy.
If he didn’t wrap the left hand around his waist, it’s great coverage. The Bucs got damn lucky there was no flag.
Maybe the refs were making up for the bad call that went against the Bucs earlier
